I would call it a little girls game.

I have just had a phone call to see if I can play again tomorrow because that team is also short of players, they are obviously desperate because the captain said that he would pick me up so that I don't have to drive to the other side of the city. Warning for @pete14, we are playing in your area at Goldenhill 😇 May the best team win. Only sorry I won’t be able to be a spectator as the Welsh sunshine is detaining us at our static caravan. 🌞☀️

Dermotsgirl Posted May 21, 2023 #46067 Share Posted May 21, 2023 I said a few days ago that I’d let @Adawn47 know my impressions of Warner’s Bembridge ( and anyone else who is interested). We arrived last Monday, so our week is nearly over. A standard Warner break is either a 4 night Monday to Friday, or a 3 night Friday to Monday weekend. We noticed a difference between the two types of break. The midweek break was a lot quieter with mainly older retirees. The weekend is more lively with a younger crowd (well, relatively younger, ages mostly about 40s to 60s). Our room has been nice and comfortable and spacious compared to the average cruise ship cabin. The furniture is quite dated - I noticed that in another area of the hotel they are refurbishing rooms, so I hope this is something that they will do throughout the hotel, it would be a definite enhancement. The shower is more of a dribble, which has been disappointing. We’ve enjoyed the food. The dining room operates on a sort of hybrid buffet/waiter service. There is a themed buffet (Tex-Mex, Asian, Italian or Indian) a carvery, a salad bar and a couple of specials which are brought to the table. Starters and desserts are also waiter service. You prebook your dining times for both breakfast and dinner before the holiday. This regulates the flow of people into the restaurant, so that the buffet is never crowded. As the norm is short breaks, menus are now repeating themselves. We knew this would be an issue as we are doing a longer holiday, but there is enough choice to have something different 2nd time around. The bar/lounge area is very spacious with lots of seating and there’s a very pleasant outside seating area. There is table service, or you can go up to the bar. All waiters and bar staff are very nice, and service has been good. There is a singer in the bar in the evening, or there is the main show lounge. We’ve had two production shows from the resident entertainment staff, which were excellent and we both enjoyed these shows. The visiting acts have been a little disappointing, and not quite to my personal taste. I normally can sit a show out to the end, but on Friday we left after a few songs, and we weren’t the only ones. But this is the nature of entertainment, can’t win them all. Having said that, we have a Showaddywaddy tribute act this evening and I have high hopes for them, as that really is my era! We’ve had a lovely week, aided by the beautiful weather, and it’s a thumbs up from me! We are not done with Warners yet , as we are on a Warners road trip. Tomorrow we go to Cricket St Thomas in Somerset for a few days. We had originally booked to go to Cricket in 2021 but we cancelled due to ‘reasons’, so we thought it’d be nice to tag on another break. PS. For anyone coming to the IofW this summer, be warned that there lots of road works as fibre optic cables are being laid. Be prepared for road closures and diversions 6

Be prepared for road closures and diversions The standard house entertainment can be a bit naff, but generally fairly entertaining, not always for the reason intended. We tend to go only go on the breaks with ' named entertainment . We saw Tony Hadley and a few acts that have been on P&O. Cricket is my favourite Warners, but DW prefers Bembridge. Enjoy part 2 of your road trip. You may still be lucky with the weather.

I hated hockey at school, far too rough for me I used to pray for really bad weather so that we would have to go into the gym instead. My main memory of hockey was during a PE lesson when one girl was accidentally hit in the face and had to be taken to the accident unit at the hospital for stitches. I much preferred summer when we switched from hockey to tennis.
