Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Thanks for asking.  Her hands were aching throughout the day but tolerable.  Right now they are hurting pretty bad.  She was advised not to do much with her hands, especially the one with the fractured thumb but it is very hard for her to not be doing something. She did the laundry earlier and while doing it the hands were ok but it eventually catches up.  The grandkids are spending the afternoon and night with us tomorrow.  Aubrey loves to help around the house. I am hoping the kids keep her preoccupied she lets Aubrey enjoy helping around the house and they love playing games with Shashey (that’s what the grandkids call her)

That must be so tough for her.  Not just the big things...but so many little things we take for granted that we need thumbs for!  😮 🥺

Hope it heals fast, and the pain lessens soon.

Oh, we've reserved a cabin. Or maybe two.😉

More research needed before I commit 16 grand in NRD.

Soooo...you reserved...but did not commit...are you actually booked?  OK...call me confused.  🥺

Still I think it would be so hard to leave Belle for that long.  😮

Glad to hear Jim is doing well!  He'll be chasing you around the dining room table soon

Thanks Bonnie!  When i got Jim from PT this morning, I said I just wanted to go to a particular store if he was up for it.  He suggested Home Depot had what I was looking for, and he wanted to come in with me.  We wound up walking around the store picking up this and that, because, well, we were in Home Depot.  He didn't have his wallet with him, and I mentioned to the cashier that Jim has a Veteran's card buy that it was home. and the nice cashier gave Jim the discount anyway.  Nice!  We also wound up food shopping while we were out.  Jim said it felt really good to be out and about, since he's only been to PT and doctors offices for the past month.

What do you do with the fish while you are gone? And another question about 2 houses. What do you leave there while you are gone? Obviously the appliances and general utensils and such. But do you leave clothes? And we keep needing to restock food at the other house, and we can never remember what is there, at least in the condiment category or OTC medications.  Of course we are not there for long stays yet.

Patti, as the weather begins to get cooler, you cut down on the amount of food you feed them, and once you see they've stopped eating, it's time to winterize the pond.  We turned off the waterfall and disconnected the filter.  We have a bubbler to keep oxygen in the pond, as well as (I don't know the name) a thing that will keep the pond from totally freezing.

As far as two places, we really only go to the Condo from January through the end of April, unless we've got a cruise planned in the Fall.  I've been keeping more and more clothes at the Condo.  Shoes don't always do as well after a couple of years.  Funny story...last year it was chilly out one evening and I put on a pair of closed shoes that I've had for years down there exactly for when it's cool...I took my shoes off under the table while we were playing cards, and it wasn't until I got back to our place and saw there were pieces of what looked like cardboard all over the place;  it was also all under our friends table..lol!  I was told that the shoes dry out.and it certainly is true!

As far as food goes, we only leave canned goods;  no boxes of food of any sort..no pasta, etc.  We put our spices in the freezer along with flour and sugar.

As far as our home in NJ, we have a mother/daughter with one of our daughters and two of our grandsons, so no worries there!

I'm out of control.  I just turned our 3.27 sailing for Eric's birthday into a b2b and booked the 3.20 sailing.  Same cruise itinerary but we had a free casino offer and same balcony was available.  Couldn't resist.   Still have another freebie to use.

Son Chris and fiance may use one of those free cabins and join us.

Good for you, I say!!!    It'll be so nice if your son Chris and his fiance can also join you. 😊                      I'm especially happy that Jim and I will be going on our first B2B, thanks to your encouragement!🥰

Whew...you have all been very busy the last few days!

Took me a long time to catch up!

Have been offline for a couple of days in a whirlwind trying to get the land yacht emptied out to bring it in for consignment sale.  Will start the cleaning process as well.  Happily we are happy to do that in community with our local RV sales office.  They are having a 90 day seasonal special at just 5% commission charge.  🙂  Timed that one right!

Unreal how much "precious stuff" we have stuffed into it.  It's like moving out of a condo...pretty much the same deal...except for the furniture.  😉

We had our Moderna boosters today.  Both had a light headache right afterwards...but did not last long.  Couple of Tylenol...took care of it for me.

Now...it's happy hour...perfect!  😄

I know you said you like to eat at the bar…but I thought I’d mention that you can put your name on the waitlist via the Yelp app.  We’ve done that before and only waited 15 minutes for a table when the poor hostess was quoting a two hour wait…

Thanks.  Good to know about using Yelp.  Never thought to do that.  That place is definitely bad about quoting wait times.  One of our first times there we were told 45-60 minutes.  We decided to walk <5 minutes to a place called the Decantery to get a drink.  Less than 30 seconds from when our drinks were put in front of us, we were texted that our table was ready...maybe 7 or 8 minutes total from when we checked in.  I guess that's better than quoting 15-20 minutes and having to wait 45.

Mother/Daughter.  Our home has an attached apartment, which is called a Mother/Daughter home, since many times a mother moves in with her daughter, with each having their own space.😁

In our case, our daughter Melanie (who has lived in this town since marrying her husband 11 years ago) was taking our granddaughter to school when she saw the sign for this house.  Jim and I were ready to move closer to Melanie and family.  Our daughter Judy (Melanie's twin) and our two grandsons were going to be moving with us, and this house worked out perfectly for the 5 of us.  In our case, the main part of the house has 4 bedrooms, 2 and 1/2 baths, and a guest room.  The apartment has a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and full bath.  The house and apartment are only separated by an inside door.  This has worked out beautifully for us all.  We all use the bedrooms in the main house to sleep, and Judy and the boys use the apartment to hang out, so we all have our privacy..I hope I answered your question without going on and on too very much!😉

That’s a gorgeous sky! I know the old saying, “Red sky at morning, sailors take warning “, but I think such beauty was a good omen.
Football season came and went in a hurry up there. Owen must be really good at multitasking; it will take him far in life!

My DH (brought up in Canada)says this. In the UK its 'red sky at night shepherd's delight, red sky in the morning shepherd's warning'

Thank you for the explanation [usually, I google lot of things being said / or places where you all go on vacation -- just found the meaning of "half bath".... turns out nobody cut a tub in two with a sword 😁].

This time, I went back and forth, from the beginning [of the sentence] to the end, wondering if a comma is missing, so as to make sense...

Or is "mother/daughter" a secret code?😉

Oh man.  Sorry to hear this.

Thanks.  I know it is the right choice to try to let it drain, just expecting a lot more rain tomorrow and think it is just going to make it worse.  We are just up against the end of the season as they can't pave once it gets too cold, usually around Thanksgiving is the end of the season.  This wet summer has really made it hard.  We had planned on having it done earlier but wanted our fence replaced first and the 8 week timeline on that turned into 17 weeks.  The 2 day install turned into 2 weeks and the firing of the subcontractor by the fence company and the fence "fixed" by one of the companies own crews.  That crew ended up here at the same time as my contractor who had to reframe our garage prior to a cement crew coming to demolish about a third of our garage floor and install new concrete.  That has been curing for about 2 weeks prior to the driveway paving date.  We then have a company coming to replace our garage door opener which I had planned on replacing first while we were waiting for all the other work, but was advised to do it last just in case something got damaged during all the other work.  That was good advice as one of the laser eyes for the opener got damaged by my contractor.  He was all upset about it until I told him it was being replaced anyways.

I just have to see if I can get a few orange cones to put on the sidewalk on either side of the driveway so no kids trip on Halloween.  The sidewalk at the end of the driveway is gone and is just muddy gravel and crushed stone.  There is caution tape across the driveway but not the sidewalk.  We live on a cul-de-sac known for giving out full sized candy bars, so lots of kids get dropped off in this neighborhood.

It is going to be wonderful when it is all finished.  Just a long time coming. 🙂

Love your sweet kitty, @Lionesss.

Since it's National Cat Day, here's a memory of Miss Priss, who we lost this year.  I think that @Keksie's  Samantha is going to look a lot like her.

Ms. Priss was a beautiful cat.  Happy Cat Day to Marcel.  Cinnamon, Kubota and Samantha say howdy.

Maryann, that's what my daughter has.  The attached apartment has a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom.  It connects to the main house with separate doors thru the screened porch. Very private!  I think in FL it would be called a lanai.

The picture is before they bought the house. The listing calls the apt a "mother-in-law suite.  This is the back of the house.  Door on the left is "our" apartment, door to the right with steps is to the main house. Outside door to the right of the screened porch is the entrance to the main house mud room.  The main doors to the apt. and main house are in the front.  2 car garage with large workroom is not attached.  I don't know ANYONE who uses their front door.

I’ve heard of mother-in-law apartments but not mother-daughter. It’s a great solution to a fairly common puzzle: How to keep people safe but have some separate time, too.
Your description was very interesting.
