Jim I noticed in the pictures prior to these, that there was a deer standing in front of the cornfield.  Do the deer not bother your corn, like they do go after your hydrangeas?

How very generous for you to share your bounty of corn and tomatoes with your neighbors!

Oh with the amount of deer we have roaming on our property the corn wouldn't have a chance.........If you look real close you will see green stakes about every10 ft or so, and then there is a 5ft  high Wire 14 Gauge  fence welded wire mesh 2 inch by 4 inch around the whole garden. Dimensions  of the garden are 30ft x60ft x30ft x60 ft.(Just went out and measured it)

So far since we lived here the deer have never attempted to jump the fence.

You can see the fence here, this picture was taken on June 12th.

The town where I used to live, we had an amazing Greek restaurant at the end of my road.  I literally cried when they closed -- it was a huge place, but you walked in and you were family.  The owners would come and sit and chat with me if they had free time, they'd ask how my son was doing (he did beginner hockey with their grandson a bazillion years ago), and if I hadn't been in for a while, I'd be greeted with a hug.

For a couple decades, they hosted the town's Greek Fest, and Stacy made ALL OF THE FOOD herself, by hand.  I know she deserves a good retirement and time to enjoy her grandkids, but geez, I was so sad to see that place change hands.

We had an Italian "joint" in NY we used to frequent at least 3x a month.  The owner was the chef, his wife and son waited tables, his other son flung pizza dough and was the cashier.  They always stopped to chat even if we weren't in their section.  Chef Rocco always stopped by.  I feel remiss in not visiting when I go back East to NJ but my time is spent a distance away.  I always ordered the same dish every time.  Salmon with penna ala vodka.  My mouth waters just thinking of it.

We went to a upscale Italian restaurant in downtown Carrollton a suburb of Dallas weekly for 30 years , he served many things you rarely see like Elk , always some seafood, best eggplant. He just closed it on New Year’s Eve . Still play poker with him once a month luckily he isn’t as good at poker as he was at cooking.

I'm not much of a food porn guy but I thought the presentation of today's breakfast was too good not to share.

Called "The Whole Nine Yards"  it was 1100 calories of goodness. And yes, there is ham tucked under the bacon & sausage.592271011_20220804_1238022.thumb.jpg.88de593edb31b228e34fac848a848ca1.jpg

And I did make it to Tuesday nights Red Sox-Astro game. Red Sox won unfortunately but good news, it was $1 hot dog night & I took full advantage. I was told they are Nolan Ryan hot dogs & are very tasty.

Sorry, I ate the hot dogs before pics could be snapped.

Standing room section, between center & left.  We bought the cheapest tickets and bounced around the stadium, occasionally visiting our seats.

My other daughter stayed with me .We decided to watch a movie together .It was a Clint Eastwood directed film and we expected it to be good.We both agreed that it was one of the worst movies we ever saw:15:17 to Paris.

That's great to hear all went well today😍

Packed our suitcases for flying out to Anchorage on Friday for the upcoming Alaska cruise – first cruise in 4 plus years. Super excited but also stressful to be traveling nowadays.

image.thumb.jpeg.dbbe6be35a07be3c210c4630bfeab1dd.jpeg

Took our online proctored Covid tests today (all negative) before we finally feel like we are “allowed” to cruise.  In case anyone needs to cruise in near future, we booked OnPoint proctoring ($15/pp) on Zoom meeting using the free Covid kits you get from the government.

This has been a cruise with many changes as both departing and returning flights were cancelled by airlines after we booked them and we had to rebook both.

Then with the landslide at Skagway, we lost that port two weeks stop two weeks and had to do a crash course on YouTube to see what’s happening at Icy Strait Point. Very sad as we had an excursion planned and my kids have never been to Skagway.

But as the great philosophers Beatles once said, life goes on.  Guess as long as I have enough clean underwear on the cruise, I’m good…

WooHoo!  Let the fun begin!   Hope you have an awesome cruise.  We look forward to your photos.  Will you be doing a live review?
