Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

How does that happen? That is disgusting and a health hazzard. Where is the quality control?

There were several of us waiting for their chicken sandwich.   When I took my first bite or two it looked okay.  But as I continued to eat it was mushy.  I thought it was the lettuce and tomatoes so I removed them.  Took another bite or two then set it down and saw a fully pink center with just slight white and saw the breading was mushy.

I then walked back to the shack and saw an officer with 2 stripes, not sure what rank that is but he took it into the shack to show the Chef.   He told me he would be right back with another sandwich.  I said No Thank you and walked back to our loungers.

He shows up with the Chef who wanted to apologize and a 3 striped officer who took down all my info my seapass.

Chef explained they double fry their sandwiches to make crispy and he believes what happened is someone only put in first fryer for a couple minutes then someone grabbed and made into sandwich instead of putting into the 2nd fryer for 10 minutes.

He blamed on them not being prepared to have this many people on the island today.

The 3 stripe officer told me if I have any medical issues to call immediately and any bill they would take care of.

We had dinner in MDR, no surprise gifts yet.  Which I don't care about.   I'm just hoping I don't spend night in the bathroom.

How did you like them?  Wasn't it you that bought a portable pump for them?  If so, how did that go.

Yes, I bought portable air pump for our anthem b2b in march/April.  Worked great then and again today.  Highly recommend.

Maybe I'll move to an island when we retire and rent or sell pool noodles in a beach hut😁

Making Friends !!!  Since I assume you have been to Coco Cay before..........what's it like with 2 ships there as opposed to only one..........Can you really tell the difference?

With Oasis having around 6600 passengers and Mariner having ???   It definitely felt very busy today.   Long waits for food (then undercooked food) long waits for trams, drinks and tough time finding empty loungers at south beach.

I was last here March and April on Anthem with around 4200 passengers and Indy with a couple thousand, that was just fine.    Today was definitely crowded and very hot.

That probably produced over 10,000 passengers today.

Thanks for the explanation. Interesting that they fry them twice. I could see how that could have happened but un called for.

We are really wanting to see how they compensate you. Strawberries will not cut it. I think a comp in a specialty restaurant would be appropriate.

The time to ask for that is right then when Debbie had their attention.  If one asks politely and for a reasonable resolution they usually comply .  We don’t eat ground poultry because of possible contamination. Debbie, I hope you are okay.

Nice review, after we have the cruise we have booked now with Royal. Our next cruise after that will surely be on Virgin Voyages. It's time for a change from Royal.

Any Food pics and the hammock on the balcony, what category cabin did you have?

I'll stay up to 12:01 tonight to check in for our Liberty/Galveston sailing. Last time for our Symphony I used a combination of the app on my phone and my computer. Picked the time on the phone but when it asked to upload passport info and vaccine cards I had all that info on my computer so I just jumped over to that. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly tonight. I'm not looking forward to try and stay awake tonight.

I got a reminder on my phone today, that I could check in for the October cruise.  That just made me sad, because that was the first of the bunch we had canceled.

And another related thing, I have been copying the image to the clip board then pasting it in the message.   This way you don't have to try to find the pic among your other pics when using "Add Files".

The photos I want to add, I save to my favorites.  Much easier to find then.

We booked the balloon twice, and both times it was canceled due to operational difficulties.

I've played those Quick Hit machine plenty of time in various casinos & cruise ships. When they get on a hot streak, it's a lot of fun and rewarding!

Key word being "when"😉😄

Susan is always looking for those Quick Hit machines, and has had some luck some of the times.  Usually only at land casinos though.

A few years ago,  DW and I were celebrating our anniversary while on a cruise.  Her daughter arranged to have "Happy Anniversary" signs and balloons and other assorted decorations delivered to our cabin as a surprise. Well, the surprises was that "Happy Birthday" decorations were delivered instead.  We laughed it off & didn't say a word but our stateroom attendant - who know it was our anniversary - had it corrected and the proper decorations delivered the next day. Along with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberry as an apology. I think maybe a tray of cookies too. Then the next day, a fruit basket and a bottle of wine shows up in the room as an extra apology.

The moral of that long-winded story is, if that was offered for a mere mix-up in decorations when we didn't even complain, then @Sunshine3601 better get something at least as good for being poisoned & potentially sicken by worker incompetence.  Ok, maybe that's a bit over dramatic and I know the cruise line doesn't "owe" anything but still......

I think you might be on to something. I wonder if CoCo Cay is a different department or "profit center" or "Revenue Generator" or whatever, than the ship, no compensation will be given once she was back on board.  They might view the offer of a properly cooked sandwich as "compensation", similar to when the MDR offers to swap out a meal if you didn't like your first choice 🙄

My days have slipped into somewhat of a routine, now that our grandkids are back in school.

Up early every morning and drive to daughter’s house to pick up the kids and take them to school.  Then back to her house to do some work around the house and take her to any appointments.

Monday, SIL took her to the long one. Yesterday, Susan took her to one, and tomorrow I will take her to another one.

End of the day, pick up the kids from school.

Monday, the kids did decorate some apple cookies to celebrate the first day of school.

When we finally get home for the day, this is how we relax.

Not a frozen kraken colada, but just as good over ice.  Sometimes I am too tired to fire up the blender.

Tonight   , I'm sitting in one of the chairs around the fire pit.  About 20 ft from the deer.

They are not scared of me anymore since I have been feeding them.

When they see me in the yard now they come running to see if I have any food out for them.

It's amazing how they become used to us. We've gotten to the point where they will walk by our backyard and the dogs will bark and they see us but they do not fell threatened. It's kinda cool.

Where did the bird hit?  What is going on with the plane? You should know you have my attention now. I want details!☺️

Sorry, but I forgot to ask him details when he got home. I’ll ask him tomorrow since he’s sleeping (1:25 am now) and has to get up at 5:15 to do a turn to Havana. He hates turns since he has to drive down to Miami in the am and then again in the afternoon during traffic. Out of the 2 flights they could put him on this was the one he did not want. Oh well. Not sure if he took any pictures. If he didn’t I’ll tell him you want him scolded. 🤣

…Until Renee will reply, here's the "result" of a close encounter between a bird and my son's (FA) plane...

The plane was damaged (it seems that the radar is there), and the crew "gained" an unexpected night in Paris...

We are docked at Cococay.   Yay!   Going to wait for mad rush before we get off.   I think we will head to South Beach today.    Looking forward to snack shack for lunch.   Love their chicken sandwich and funnel cake😀

Have you tried the cheese sticks? They seemed to be popular, but I didn’t like them. There is definitely more than just cheese in them. I think they add flour or something. Not so tasty to me.

…The only real "problem" is he likes to claw furniture despite having several scratching pads & towers. I'm told there is a spray thar can be used to discourage him. But its not a big problem just yet.

Leonard would like to welcome them personally but he's busy chasing a moth.  At least he's earning his keep by keeping the house insect free. Last night,  he brought me a spider as a gift.

So cute. Our last cat would also scratch the furniture when we got her. We put the scratching post right where she was scratching and she started using that. Sometimes it gets pushed around and away from the couch, but she still uses the post.

Love her markings. I’m surprised they have the no other cats allowed clause. Did they say why they have it?

This would be the only problem for me.  I have space and love enough for more than just one cat.

Completely agree. I think it’s odd they have that requirement. Having another cat so they can play with each other can’t be a bad thing.

We were on a cruise several years ago in which my wife sustained serious injuries due to faulty equipment on the ship. She was taken by wheelchair to the medical area. That night we found in our cabin a bowl of strawberries .

We always received the chocolate covered strawberries on a plate. Didn’t know they put them in bowls, that is assuming they were chocolate covered.

For clawing - try loops of painter's tape.  Won't hurt any furniture and cats seem to get the hint pretty quick after getting it stuck to them a time or two.

We tried that and it would usually work, but for Leilani she was a slow learner when it came to the tape. The scratching post placed next to the furniture did the trick right away.
