You're on the money there. I could not believe how many cruise ships were tied up in  Ft Lauderdale for the start of our Panama cruise. Many of the local hotels seem to be almost exclusively for cruise passengers and run their own shuttles to the port. Then, at the end, San Diego. Not only cruise ships but also warships. IIRC San Diego is the biggest naval port on the west coast.
