A big disappointment to fans of miserable bone chilling winds on both sides of the Tasman.🥶

Don't think you could say that of Byron Bay and looking more interesting as our weather turns cold.

Byron Bay? Currently 13.2C, feels like 7.9C with a 30 km WSW wind and showery. Brrrr!

Well done NZ. 🥂

The only restrictions that will remain will be international border controls." Source ABC

Good stuff, we were doing well here in the ACT but have just had an international diplomat come in and present with Covid.

That's what success looks like, despite some other politician's claims.

Now it's up to them to decide how to go forward, instead of having things forced on them.

"New Zealand's Deputy PM says internal borders in Australia are delaying trans-Tasman travel

Winston Peters says he does not want the plans to be held up by the "slowest state in Australia"

Pressure is mounting on the Federal Government to have a travel bubble by the winter school holidays." Source

Yes ...if Australia can’t decide as a whole ,he is suggesting the possibility of State by State travel bubble with NZ .

Hmmm, that could be interesting. NSW, Victoria and the ACT never closed their borders but I suspect those states aren't the ones that most Kiwis want to travel to at this time of year. And all hell would break out if Queensland opened it's border to NZ an not to NSW.

I think it is worth considering.

My  (personal) issue with that is our Christmas/New Year cruise to NZ and Vanautu sails from Sydney. Unless Royal Caribbean can move the departure port to Brisbane, we need NSW open.

Word is NZ ...might... get a aTrans Pacific bubble before a Trans Tasman bubble , in order to help tourism which has been savaged . Looks like the Islands for winter sun instead of Gold Coast .🏝🏖🏝

So the South Pacific Islands are talking of opening to tourism??  To safe countries?

Cook Islands is located between French Polynesia and American Samoa. It is self-governing in 'free association' with New Zealand. That means that while it administers its own affairs, Cook Islanders are New Zealand citizens who are free to live and work here.

NZ needs to do what is best for them, I am hoping we get included soon though.

The prime country under discussion is the Cook Islands.

They make a very good case for early consideration if possible.

That really is the equivalent of Australia re establishing flights to Norfolk Island, hardly international travel😕

NSW never closed its borders to visitors from other Australian states, although like all the states non-essential travel was restricted during the lockdown.

However Australian borders are still closed to overseas visitors. This is not a State issue, it is a Federal issue. For your cruise to go ahead you need the international borders open AND cruise ships permitted back to Australian ports.

Even if the Trans Tasman bubble goes ahead and includes cruises it is unlikely that your itinerary will remain the same as Vanuatu would be outside the TT bubble.
