LET'S BUILD OUR IDEAL P&O SHIP

Recommended Posts

Just thought - a sunset bar at the back like on the Solstice Class ships and a large outdoor seating area for the buffet.

Rather than one or two huge dining rooms have 4 smaller ones that you can book / move round with a different theme for each (included in the price). This was on Celebrity Edge and was a great idea.

Definitely tables for 2 that are not on that horrid bench thing they have so many ships and with a decent space between the other tables

Thanks for your replies . So far the concensus seems to be :

Maximum 2000 pax

Covered pool

Atrium with wow factor

Tiered stern

The Crow's Nest on Arcadia

A Glass house

Cafe Jardin

Cinema

Arcadia or Ventura theatre

Proper pub

A full Promenade Deck such as Oriana or Oceana

Andersons

A good Library as in Aurora

Quiet places to sit

Plenty of well spaced tables for two

Any more before we send it to the shipbuilders?

All cabins to have balconies, big enough for two sun loungers.

All bathrooms to have shower cubicles with glass doors - no shower curtains!

I concur with Prestos requirement for good useable space at the back of the ship. We normally go for cabins on the back and it is a great place to be, looking out over the wake from the deep balcony. Provided we can have useable space and a cabin with a big balcony for me that is not overlooked, I am happy with your specification. Are you selling shares to finance the ship? Maybe with the wide expertise and skills of our fellow posters, we could build it ourselves. As shipbuilding is not my forte, I volunteer to be project director or foreman so I can do least damage. Any other volunteers?

I think you will struggle to fit in all the required facilities on a ship that only has 2000 passengers. You are going to need it to be Oasos class size to accommodate all your restaurants bars swimming pools cinemas wrap round prom deck and all the entertainment venues etc.

It has to have lots of lovely aft cabins with a lovely large balcony and NO soot ! ;-)

I would like to help with cabin design so that we get decent storage space ;-)

We can call the new ship 'TARDIS', paint her blue and hope this works then :classic_biggrin:

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a casino in any shape or form.

We're certainly saving some space by not having one. 😄 (sorry casino fans!)

But if it is going to be our ship, we probably need to generate some cash from any guests we choose to be allowed to pay to use otherwise empty cabins. Dodgy playing cards and biased roulette wheels may be helpful along with shops and stalls selling expensive tat that nobody on previous cruises chose to buy. 😎😇

Can we put you in charge of the flooring Andy? And perhaps Brian can help with the plumbing.

Do you think Kalos will lend us his high quality mobile accommodation for housing the skilled workforce?

I am happy with a labouring position.

Yeah we got this...

Kalos has a big role to play as he is accommodation and entertainment Guru..

Is this going to be only for grown ups or can all of us be involved. 😇 Definitely no children though.

We will have a specific Stoke bar where you can all talk about Tatton Park? while eating oatcakes.... 😊

We can drink beer from our local Titanic brewery but only if it changes it’s name to ours.

Oh, and we need to introduce 'freedom lifts' so the table for 2 crowd don't have to share with others... And I can avoid Malcolm... 😊

He won't be invited. He too rude and obnoxious. All passengers must be polite and friendly.

No children, only the young at heart with a good sense of humour.

Are we having any entertainment in our Arcadian theatre? I have two comedians in mind. Kalos and Andy. The new Morecombe and Wise. 😆

We are going to do a Chuckle Brothers tribute... To me... 😊

After a long think I will contribute. Given the possible future restrictions on cruising My ideal ship would be...…. a new Saga type with an added casino. Advantages are free car travel to the port, preferably Dover as I live in Kent. All cabins are balconies so you can't be imprisoned in an inside. Social distancing of course but as I only have two cruises to go to reach the magic fifty I won't really mind if it costs a small fortune. I could manage without the casino at a pinch.

I definitely think we will need 2 ships. Lots of folk want plenty of aft balcony cabins and lots of us seem to want a lovely tiered stern with outdoor space...
