I'm wondering if they will simply close all or some of the public bathrooms to force passengers to go back to their cabins when needed.  (which is what we do most of the time, anyway)

There are probably regulations about having public restrooms, minimum needed for X number of passengers, locations near restaurants, etc ??

I believe the river cruise sailing now closed public bathrooms and elevators

It can be a very long walk from where you happen to be to where your cabin is on an O class ship. Closing bathrooms doesn't seem like a practical idea to me.

One more reason for me not to cruise for a while .

Why bother with all the perceived restrictions .

I will wait years for this to get sorted out .

No rush for me .

Yep, we're waiting until at least fall 2021 at this point.  Next winter will be the first time since 2007 we won't be cruising.  Everything has been lifted and shifted into 2021/2022 and we're happy with that.  No interest in masks or god knows what other fun sucking restrictions will be in place.  Instead we'll do our 8-10 weeks in Florida, and a couple weeks on one of the islands if things are OK there.

Right now, we plan to go in august.  Only thing that would really be a deal breaker for us, is having to wear masks all the time.  Otherwise, we are good to go and will go the minute they say we can cruise ago

What happens if a person desperately needs the bathroom and does not have enough time to get back to the cabin. That has happened to me many times.

They used to have a sign at the DMV that read... poor planning on your part does not make an emergency on our part.😯😄

Just to add another what's gonna happen,  I wonder how self assist disembarkation will be handled or if it will still be offered.  No social distancing there.

Why would self assist not have any social distancing?  It is incumbent on people to space themselves out. Sames as at Costco or anywhere you need to line up. Standard disembarkation would be no different. Everyone gets in line to disembark (with or without bags).

Is it cheaper to fly to say Europe?

I have flown from Boston to London r/t for less than what I have sometimes paid to fly from RI to FLL r/t.

You forgot the crowds around the $10 sale tables by the pool or in the promenade😇

DH and I were on the March 7 Grandeur cruise out of Baltimore.  When we left our house there were no CV cases in Virginia [where I live]. When were returned it was a different world.  . . . but, there were a number of measures onboard I think will be the norm.

I did not notice anyone shaking hands or hugging and hand sanitizer was everywhere.  You had to use it.  [before you enter the theatre, at all meals, at the casino entrance, just everywhere] I noticed the crew being very firm about that.

We had our temperature taken and answered questions about travel history before we ever went through security at the terminal.   However, I felt it was very superficial.  It was a VERY cold day and temp check and questions made for a slow wait outside.  When they went to check our temps our foreheads were too cold to read a temp. After a minute or so it got warm enough to register.  If a person had a temp I am not sure it would have been caught under these circumstances. So the questions and temp check were not all that effective. If it were a hot day I am sure it might be the opposite--so that procedure needs to be adjusted.

On the cruise there was constant cleaning.  There had been a deep clean before we boarded.  Outside of cleaning the first couple of days were not much different.  Then some noro cases showed up.  The cleaning went into overdrive.  They began serving at the buffet for breakfast and lunch and the WJ was closed at dinner. There was not enough crew to serve dinner. Everyone, including the Captain, served meals [breakfast/lunch] in the WJ.  They switched to a faster and stronger disinfectant.  It left a sticky residue after use on the tables and handrails.  It took longer to dry so tables were often wet when you sat down. This is a lounge table that was cleaned with the stronger disinfectant.  You can see the residue. [we were glad they were taking precautions]

There were no sales outside of the stores.  i.e. t-shirt sales, $10 specials, watches. [not even at the permanent counters outside the stores]  The photo areas were roped off. You had to ask the clerk to find your picture.  He held it up to show you the pics.  You decided if you wanted it and then you held up the sea pass card and he entered the folio number into the machine. [no touch]  Most of the shop clerks wore gloves.  The shops were open but there were few in the shops, except the liquors store.  🙂 The photo area was very empty because we only had 2 ports that let us stop.  That was OK, we still had a good cruise.

We were all ok with this.  We were not socially distancing.  We saw the news and were glad we were on a ship that had no CV.

None of these things really impact our enjoyment of the cruise.  After a day or two it seemed normal.  I think masks and other things put in place will be the same.  I am not sure what all of the changes will be.  I doubt the self disembark will be a big issue.  They will figure out the distancing [or cruising will not work]  They will be glad for us to carry our own luggage.  JMHO

Not really.  Canadian airlines are brutal.

I used airline miles for my trip to Paris and Rome in February.  To fly direct from Toronto was $2500 For two of us  in fuel surcharges and taxes on a “free flight”.  Drove to Buffalo and flew from there on a partner airline and it was less than $500 in extra charges for the two of us.

Some people don’t get a 10- or 15-minute notice that they need to use the bathroom, so there’s no planning for it.  And, what if a person gets sick and needs to throw up? That would cause a lot of additional work for the already overworked staff.

They could have several muster drills.  Just assign a time and note it on the card.  Hey,🙂 they might even be able to do them inside; perhaps in the theater with spaced seating and no one would need to stand outside in the sweltering heat.

..... and if we hit the iceberg, or even the rock in front of Giglio, we go to the airconditioned theater and take our spaced seat to spread times.... 😳 🤪
