Black Friday Sale details

Not really much of a “deal” except that now ALL rooms qualify for free WiFi, rather than the current offer which only gives it to suites.

All I can say is “MEHHH”......

Princess is similar - rapackaging their current “Fall Frenzy” offer of $50pp OBC as the “Cyber Event” keeping the same OBC amounts and adding in a 50% off deposit.

I don’t think CCL corporate is loosening up the marketing pursestrings for their various subsidiaries much this year, hence the less than spectacular offerings!!!

Would be nice if they'd go ahead and cancel my B2B for 1/9 & 1/16/21 so I could rebook using the sale.  Any FCC from those won't go far since they were "free" OV cabin (really $200 each + taxes/fees) from the casino with casino chips and Drinks on Us.  But because I couldn't use my FCC from cancelled Zaandam April 2020, I should at least be accumulating enough to pay for a sizeable chunk of a rebooking.

Sigh.  Really wanted to sail, partly for the great deal, partly to sail NA, but mostly just to sail!!

Thanks for the heads up.  Wifi included would interest us with the longer cruises we have booked.

Mention promo Z0, it says in the flyer...  I'm going to try it!  May even have to book a new cruise...

So it’s . . . Free wi-fi, basically? See what the actual fares are like. I already put a deposit on a May ‘22 Alaska cruise. I suppose I could rebook and get the free wi fi if the fare stays the same. But this certainly wouldn’t drive me toward a purchase if I weren’t already booked.

@lderochi yes - free WiFi for all bookings and a 50% reduced deposit.  I don’t expect and fares fluctuations either up or down.

NONE of the cruise lines will be offering much extra this year and even less so in way of fare discounts.  In the current financial environment I’m not surprised.

We will all be phoning our PCC or TA’s on the first day, lol.   Appreciate your info.

Hi AtlantaCruiser,

I am on a Grand Voyage, I am hoping it covers that.  We will all be doing live blogs from our cruises.  😃

The only problem I see, having experienced Wifi on multiple ships, is that when everyone has it, it will be even less reliable than it already is.  More frustration for more people.  Yeah!!

HAL recently did a major upgrade on internet at sea. It was an upgrade from the service provider, it came out coincidentally at the beginning of the pandemic so I don't know if anyone has been able to provide any feedback yet.   I will try to find the press release later today and provide a link if I can

We got off the Konigsdam 23rd of February 2020 and arrived home and have gone nowhere since. It might have been K's last sailing prior to shutdown.  We were on for 3 weeks and I know the service was not great then. It was better than it had been on some other sailings, but when all 2600+passengers are using it, not sure how much better it will be.  Most crew aren't allowed to use it -  ones we spoke to wait to find a hotspot when they are in port.  So, unless they have upgraded again, it's like they're "giving you the sleeves out of their vest".  It's a selling point and, if it doesn't work so well, lots of folks will say, "you get what you pay for" and they may opt in for some upgraded service (which will come at a price).

Hopefully HAL boosted their service while on haitas since we're hearing that everything will be relying on personal devices for information/room keys/menus/reservations/excursion confirmations, etc., while on board. Most will be on their intranet which was already free to all, but I'm waiting to hear how well it works.

I do believe it was a scheduled upgrade in service due this past summer.  This is not a ship retrofit, this is an upgrade in coverage and power from the contracted provider.  I will keep looking for that article.  I have never bought wifi onboard because it was so bad but this announcement held a lot of promise.  Of course, I will always carry my t-mobile phone so I have internet on land.

This offer won't do anything if they not open up the bookings for cruises over 7 days. Leaving the US ports.

We can book 2022 or upgrade our own current bookings.   But yes, it is not as grand as it was in bygone years.

Maybe I'm up too early, but I don't see anything on the HAL lists except "Best Price".    Of course, it may be that Canadians are not going to be allowed to avail themselves of the Black Friday sale.

I looked too and nothing so far.

I'm not seeing it, either.  I talked to my PCC about it and she said she'd call me on Friday.

Thanks, I'll try the same.  She did say at one time, that, as we do have a US credit card we would be able to book a US price - if that's what is going on.

With all of the cancellations and itinerary changes that have happened and will happen I find it way too difficult to book anything else at the moment.  My two remaining booked cruises will most likely be cancelled or changed.  I’ll wait until the offerings are more settled.
