Full release.

MIAMI, Jan. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Cruise Line today released plans for additional ship deployments as it continues to refine its phased in approach to a return to guest operations for 2021, resulting in some ship-specific cruise cancellations and movements. Those plans include:

  • Related to already-announced dry dock plans for Carnival Magic, Carnival Paradise and Carnival Valor, those ships' return to operations will be delayed until November 2021. Consequently, voyages on Carnival Magic from Norfolk (embarkations from Sept. 29-Oct. 30), Carnival Paradise from Tampa (embarkations from June 5-Oct. 28) and Carnival Valor from New Orleans (embarkations from Sept. 16-Oct. 28) have been cancelled.

  • Carnival Miracle's planned seasonal service from San Diego has been suspended until further notice, and sailings out of San Diego that were available for sale through April 2023 have been cancelled, with the exception of seven voyages to Hawaii, which will move to Long Beach.

  • Carnival Radiance's dry dock and transformation has been moved to September, with a planned arrival to Long Beach in November 2021.

  • With Carnival Miracle's reposition to Long Beach, the ship will assume the three- and four-day itineraries for Carnival Radiance from May 3-Nov. 1, 2021 as well as the seven Hawaii Carnival Journeys referenced above. In addition, Carnival Miracle will launch a new program of four- and five-day cruises to Mexico during the winter season, beginning November 2021 and continuing through April 2023.

Carnival is advising guests and travel agents of these changes. Where possible, West Coast guests are being accommodated in a transfer to Carnival Miracle (from Carnival Radiance), or the retention of their Hawaiian itinerary via a Long Beach embarkation instead. With this change, Carnival will eventually run a three-ship operation from its port facility at Long Beach: Carnival Panorama sailing seven-day Mexican Riviera itineraries and Carnival Radiance operating three- and four-day itineraries year-round, with Carnival Miracle operating four- and five-day Mexico and 14-day Hawaii itineraries during the winter.

"Like so much about this current global situation, we are adapting our plans as circumstances evolve and we are able to confirm alternatives. We are disappointed that our return to seasonal ports like Norfolk and San Diego has been impacted and appreciate the support of those port partners and communities. The support of our guests, travel agents, ports and business partners has truly been overwhelming as we work through this situation," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Just saw their notice on Facebook.  All sailings through October 31, 2021:

Magic

Paradise

Valor

Radiance also delayed until November 2021.

Radiance passengers are being moved to the Miracle in "comparable cabins". Carnival will notify passengers of their new cabin assignment by February 26. No amenity has been added to entice moving from a newly refurbished ship to one that is not so recently done. Disappointing for sure.

I have a cruise that was switched over to Miracle. I am not impressed with the ship itself and disappointed in the change.

Does anyone know if they ever offer anything when they do a ship downgrade? I have never had this happen before.

Then again.... I guess I should be grateful that they  didn't cancel the cruise completely, like they have my last 5.  😉

Well that makes one last Friday, Mardi Gras, already re-booked and taken care of.  Now today, Magic is cancelled for Bermuda in October.  Think I will just take a refund on this deposit.  Already have 2 cruises booked for next year from previous cancellations, just think we will sit it out quietly the rest of this year from cruising and enjoy our vacation property at the beach with our new golf car!  Gotta make lemonade out of all these lemons 🤣.  Good Luck everyone!

Welp. We just lost a cruise out of these cancelations, but it was completely expected at this point.

Was originally slated for last summer, then this summer, now who knows when? It stinks, but is minor compared to all the other losses as a result of the pandemic. Stay safe and stay kind. Hope to be back on a cruise in summer 2022!

I won't get a truly comparable cabin.  I booked a porthole cabin on the Inspiration.  When it was moved to the Radiance, they put me in a true interior cabin under the slide.  I had to call and get an override to be downgraded back to a porthole cabin.  The Miracle doesn't have porthole cabins.  The only interior cabins with a view of the outside are the 4K cabins with floor to ceiling windows.  I know that isn't Carnival's definition of comparable.  I fully expect to get screwed.

actually the 4K cabins are what used to be the Interior French Door cabins, the window opens, its actually a nice cabin. I sailed on the Miracle in a 4K. It's actually our favorite ship!

Have you sailed on her before?

The French doors no longer open. The view also can be completely blocked by a lifeboat.

I love the Miracle too.

I know what the 4K cabins are and what they used to be.  I was saying that although I think the 4K cabins are the only real equivalent to the porthole cabins on the Inspiration and Radiance, Carnival doesn't think the same way, as evidenced by being moved from a porthole to an interior under the slide on the Radiance.  I need natural light, even if the view is mostly blocked by a lifeboat.

We had an ocean view room booked on Radiance with cabins above and below..very important to me. There is no real comparable cabin on the miracle as the ocean views are below or above something noisy. Will be interesting to see where we end up....

Have you ever cruised on any of the spirit class ships, Legend, Spirit, Pride or Miracle? They are our absolute favorite. So easy to find your way around the ship. Not as many passengers so you seem to interact with the same people more often. We've always found people just a wee bit friendlier on a spirit class ship, including staff.

I found the Legend to be the hardest to navigate.  The atrium was backwards compared to any ship I had been on before or after that cruise(Jubilee, Sensation,  Inspiration, Fantasy, and Triumph before and Triumph, Dream, Sunshine, Glory, and Valor after).  I frequently went in the wrong direction.  I constantly had to look out the window to tell which way the ship was moving.  I don't hate the Spirit class as much as I used to.  That level of hatred is now reserved for the Sunshine class and everything after.  I am extremely happy that my cruise is no longer on the Radiance.

What are you talking about? The Miracle was dry docked just last year.

The radical makeovers of the Sunshine Class - Sunshine and Sunrise are totally different than Spirit Class Ships that have had drydocks with some of the newer eateries and bars added. The look and feel of the Sunshine class has more in common with the Dream/Vista Class than the Spirit Class in the overall FEELING and aesthetics of the ship. The Legend, for example has most of the newer eateries and bars on board yet the overall look and feel of the ship is still the original 70's Vegas casino aesthetics.

No surprises here.  Based on the news about NCL sending all of their non-essential crew back home after spending months getting them back on ships, I see very few ships sailing before 2022.

NCL Crew Sent Home

Absolutely. People who are still wondering if their spring cruises will sail are - once again - ignoring the obvious evidence about where we are & where we're going.
