Rare Crazy For Cats Posted February 28, 2021 #57 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Good Afternoon, thanks for the daily report. I do enjoy a good bowl of chili. Today’s dinner will be a beef roast with wine. I was feeling a little optimistic this morning and emailed my PCC to book a 14 day holiday cruise on the NS.

Vaccinefinder dot org and you put in your zip code, answer some questions and it shows you if you are eligible and where you can make an appointment. It’s tricky though, I’m not sure what day appointments open up. Worth a try. Unfortunately I am in the under 60 age group. Not eligible yet in my state (perhaps most states, although Georgia seems to have had a slow rollout....)
65 Gator Posted February 28, 2021 #61 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Thanks to the gang for the postings... Was happy to see the suggestion for chili since I have thawed out venison and beef for chili... Thought you folks might be pleased to see the latest graph from Johns Hopkins with a noticeable downward trend in total cases. Norseh2o Posted February 28, 2021 #62 Share Posted February 28, 2021 When I learned that group of polar bears is called a celebration, in honor of National Polar Bear Day yesterday many family members were able to gather to celebrate a BIL birthday, 2/29. DH and I are 2 weeks past our 2nd vaccine (California) and all other adults are nearly complete (Arizona) with their vaccinations so it seemed that at last we could get together. A simple supper, 2 darling great nephews joined us, and @cunnorl, I am glad that you reminded us to value times together and am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Rare Vict0riann Posted February 28, 2021 #63 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Good Sunday morning to all, and many thanks to Rich and Roy, and everyone who posts. Condolences to @cunnorl on the loss of your brother. My computer did an upgrade last night and now I can't open my mail. I did get Safari to open so I am here, but I don't know what to do - when I try to shut down my computer, it just asks for my password and won't turn off! Going to do a search.

Cruising-along Posted February 28, 2021 #67 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Good morning all! Late to the party today, page 3 already! Kind of a broken sleep kind of night last night, by the time I was able to sleep it was nearly my usual time to get up. 😉 I've gone to a few flower arranging demonstrations on HAL cruises, and always enjoyed them. As for me, I do my best, but am far, far, from being a floral design expert. Chili sounds really good, but we will be having steak tonight. And no public sleeping for me, I'm lucky to be able to sleep in my own bed. 😅 I agree with Debbie, the meal sounds more like a snack. We just had pizza a couple nights ago, and garlic toast last night, so I'll pass. Love the quote! @kazu have fun deciding where to put your seedlings and perennials! I have some new bulbs so I'll be doing the same thing here. And so funny about your DH -- I've always been thankful my DH isn't interested in gardening, so I have no problem doing whatever I want. He has learned the names of some of the flowers over the years though, lol. @cat shepardthat wine sounds so good with the chocolate, cherry and raspberry. I might even be tempted even though it's a red wine. Thank you for all you do every day! @St. Louis Saloh my those cupcakes are SO pretty!!! @smitty34877I'm sorry your visit has been delayed. Your family is keeping you safe, and that's what is important now. @cunnorlmy deepest sympathies for the sudden passing of your brother. 13

Sending prayers to all who are in need.🙏 @cunnorl Firstly, I would like to offer my condolences to you and your family. @cat shepard Love the "coffee" jokes....that's me for sure.☕🙃 @Aardvaark The itinerary seeing all the sites in Norway was special and especially up to North Cape (Nordkapp).✏️ Oh, yes, I am probably one of the cruise passengers holding a book and napping in the Crow's Nest, LOL !🤓📚
Horizon chaser 1957 Posted February 28, 2021 #69 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Good morning, all! Floral design, chilli, and public sleeping - rally only one of this three work in Canada at the end of a cold, nasty February. Although if the flowers and the sleeping are indoors, it could be doable. Tonight’s dinner is shepherds pie, left from yesterday. @cunnorlI am so sorry for your loss, and with no warning. @kazuI would swear in court that I laughed at your cartoons and liked your post yesterday morning. Either something devilish is afoot, or we are both losing our minds. At the end of February in a pandemic winter, I suspect the second option is likely correct. A year ago today, the Amsterdam brought us to the Kingdom of Tonga. We were the first cruise ship to receive permission to land in three weeks, and I believe we were the last. Because we had been in areas untouched by the virus, parliament actually reconvened to give us special permission to land! Tonga is extremely flat, unlike the jagged volcanic islands we had been seeing. The culture and geography were very different, with a much higher level of agriculture. David met and talked with the previous King of Tonga when he visited Canada and took the ferry to Vancouver Island. He spent the crossing on the bridge with his body guards, and chatted for an hour and a half.David was on the wheel, and has never forgotten it. I’m so glad Tonga wasn’t one of the ports we lost. A view of the palace through the gates. The King’s standard is not flying, so he’s not in residence at the moment. The tombs of the more recent kings, topped by their statues. The one on the far right is the King that David talked to, father of the current King. The flat, open countryside is given to crops. An ancient tsunami washed this massive chunk of coral reef more than a kilometre inland, as there were no slopes to stop it. A three headed coconut tree. The blowholes that wind up the western coast, like a long nautical pan pipe. Flying foxes - enormous bats the size of foxes without tails. The site of Captain Cooks Landing. He was so impressed with the greeting he named these ‘The Friendly Islands’. He never knew that it was HIS decision to be friendly that scuttled the original plan to kill him when he came ashore! Making tapa cloth by pounding mulberry bark. Small, sweet bananas for sale in the market a few blocks from the pier. T-shirts, pearls, and handicrafts in the pop up market by the ship. A last view of the palace from the ship as we sail away, bound for New Zealand. And finally, Happy Sunday, from our blue hulled beauties. 24

In looking through my files of photos, I saw something that looked very similar. That was me, I was remembering our first cruise which was on the Noordam III 34 years ago. @65 Gator was remembering their cruise from 1990 on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Here are a few more from the Noordam at anchor in St. Thomas, February 1987: These were taken during the tender ride back to the ship in St. Thomas: It was a lovely introduction to cruising and got us hooked. Can't wait to be on one again, hopefully soon!

I know I once had a thread removed on the Cunard forum and when I emailed the mod it was not intentional, possibly just a misplaced cursor. I think usually once a post is deleted anything related to it goes away as well. I'm pretty sure I saw your post as well. Roy
