Just received an email from Celebrity that all cruises before 30 June 2021 cancelled. We were due to sail on Equinox from Fort Lauderdale 27 June 2021 and had only recently paid final balance. I was so looking forward to trying our first Penthouse. Clearly not to be.

Not surprising, but I imagine it is terribly disappointing.

We were so looking forward to this cruise as my sister died in September 2019 and my mother in law July 2020. We really needed a family break. We (DH, DS and self) have each had our first Covid vaccinations and are scheduled to be fully vaccinated by end of May. We were just waiting for President Biden to say we could enter the USA. Next cruise on Royal June 2022.

Royal has also announced they are  moving their European ships and cruises around, other than the Apex and Millennium nothing from Celebrity about their plans going forward. Certainly X knows what they will do with the Infinity in the Med by now.

Still some areas with problems and not allowing tourists.  Until countries open they can’t do much with the Infinity except leave the planned sailing in place until it is clear they can’t sail.  We are booked on her for October which is 5 months away - a lot could change in that time.

IF you had paid for your cruise in FULL (not just a deposit), you should be getting an enticement from Celebrity to cruise with them later or a full refund.  More info. on this should be coming out soon.  It the recent past it has been 125% credit toward another, "lift and shift" to transfer to similar or same cruise similar time frame - next year, or full refund.  Celebrity is a very good cruise line, and they will do their best to make it good.  They can't help the US Gov't / CDC isn't allowing US departures (or US possessions-ports) most likely before 1 Nov. 2021.  Disappointing, but try to find a way to make lemon aide out of lemons.  Maybe next year we won't have to wear masks, and can sit or stand "next" to others in casino, theater, dining, buffet, etc.  We'll see.

Celebrity will not be letting any other cruises besides Apex and Millennium be approved to go until those two ships have started sailing and they see how they perform safety-wise. That’s why I really feel we will not see a full restart to cruising here in the States until the November Caribbean season kicks off. That will give a couple months for Celebrity and the other lines to do their test cruises out of U.S. ports that the CDC will require.

So sorry but not surprised. Hope you haven’t committed to flights and hotels.

Have you looked at the around Britain cruises from Southampton this Summer on Silhouette?  Not exactly what you wanted but it would still give you a break after such a difficult year...

We have the PH booked on Silhouette in September to the Canary Islands, trying not to be too hopeful as I think it may go the way of the rest of the Summer itineraries...

Silhouette not mentioned, but UK round Britain summer sailings from Southampton started selling on Wednesday 7th April. Maybe the reason they haven’t been mentioned, is because sailings start on July 3rd 2021.

  • Host Anne changed the title to Celebrity Cruises - suspending global operations for all sailings departing on or before June 30, 2021 except Mille and Apex

The title is the from the actual Celebrity email which I received and was not of my creation!

Celebrity has an ongoing issue with its ability to communicate accurate information.

Fortunately, the non-cruise elements which wrapped around the the cruise were all booked with British Airways Holidays and they have a good cancellation policy.

We are a bit sad. The June 2021 sailing was a replacement for the same holiday booked for June 2020 which we moved following the 23 March 2020 UK lockdown. As a treat for missing that holiday, we did book the PH on Equinox for June 2021 instead of usual RS. As Covid has engulfed the world, we thought the 2021 sailing was touch and go, so have already booked the Royal Loft Suite on Anthem of the Seas for 2022 from Southampton. Problem is, we were awarded some Celebrity Future Cruise Certificates because of issues on a prior sailing. Not sure what to do with them so they may expire.

Funnily, I was speaking to our TA yesterday about those cruises around the UK, but the prices combined with unpredictable UK weather. No way, my Yorkshire roots would not cope.

The Canaries are always lovely. We did 14 nights with Royal Caribbean in 2019 to them. By September, the weather is nice but not too hot and children back at school. We did like the Silhouette to Iceland pre-renovation. Favourite restaurant was the Lawn Club Grill. Wish it was on all the other Solstice class ships.

Again, sincere sympathy for your very difficult year...Totally understand your view of the British Cruises. So pleased you have no added cost complications.

We are sitting on the fence at present regarding our September cruise. If it happens as planned and the world is a safer place we would love to go...If it becomes a British cruise we will think long and hard. This cruise should have been originally (last year) a 40th wedding anniversary cruise. Not our favourite destination (we have been, seen and done before) but this booking was all about just enjoying the ship.

To quote the wonderful Captain Tom “Tomorrow will be a good day...”. Whilst this year we may have to look at UK self catering options or book something last minute hopefully in the not too distant future we will all be cruising again.

Stay safe and well...
