Not quite Ready -- How far off are you pushing your cruises ?

Recommended Posts

We pushed our cruise (cancelled 4x) to January figuring 1. covid would be mostly gone by then, or most people would be vaccinated, and 2.  all the "kinks" would be worked out by the cruise lines before we cruised.

I am ready to cruise right now, but I am not excited about the restrictions. I want the regular cruising experience back and will book a cruise for the first week that PCR tests, Vaccine Requirements and Masks are gone. Currently I have a January cruise booked, but if any of that is still in place, I will cancel and head back to my no requirements all inclusive resort.

we pushed our next one to October 2022 and have 2 booked in 2023. the first one is 470 days out so hoping things are back to somewhere near normal by then. we will just do some road trips as vacations until that time.

We would cruise right now if our schedules allowed it, though we typically avoid times when school is out.  Since our original September cruise on the Valor was cancelled, we booked another September cruise.  That will be our first since January 2020.  We have two booked for next year on the Mardi Gras and Vista.

I'm still scheduled on my Sept 26th cruise on the Glory and still plan to go as long the ship sails (or any other ship that sails that week). I don't want to reschedule it because it's my birthday cruise.

DH and I booked Jan 2022 because that is the time we usually sail.  Although there have been some great casino offers so I booked a cruise in Oct for my son and me for his 40th birthday.  I gifted a cruise to my granddaughter for her honeymoon in Nov.  I'm hoping everything goes well with these early cruises so there are no problems for when I get to cruise.

We had six Carnival cruises booked before Covid.  Four have been cancelled.  The last two were B2B's starting September 19 out of NOLA.

We rescheduled these two September Carnival cruises out of NOLA to April 2024, still keeping a B2B, and basically the same itinerary.

How far into the future do y'all feel comfortable cruising again ?

Once the vaccines were announced and it looked like we would be able to be vaccinated we looked for a late fall cruise to take the place of our cancelled Bermuda cruise (which we replaced with a Bahamas cruise in 2/22). We then booked a mid-November cruise, thinking that by that time things should be relatively back to normal. As each day passes it looks better and better.

We have had 7 cruises cancelled 3 B2Bs. Also cancelled out of New Orleans on August 16th this year. Our next try is B2B on December 12th this year. Then hopefully Hawaii for February 20, 2022.  Rebooked Alaska 14 days for April 23, 2023

I’m honestly worried about my November cruise being cancelled; it’s out of Mobile and the boat is only scheduled to start cruising the month prior.  Booked it because I can drive to Mobile and I’m trying to avoid getting back on planes as long as possible (crowds, huge TSA lines, expensive flights, masks on flights...or so I’ve heard).

If that is cancelled, my next one is February.

We're also booked to cruise from Mobile this November.  (An easy drive)  I think there's just a couple of short cruises before ours.  I'm hopeful we'll get to go but if not, our next cruise is to Alaska from Seattle in May.

Spring 2022. We will be sitting out any further travel until then and letting all the issues/kinks get resolved and avoiding the inflated prices and reduced experiences. Everything should be back to normal by then and prices should stabilize by then. Plus my youngest isn't vaccinated yet so cruising is not even a consideration until then.

Maybe we’ll see you! Ours is November 8. If it doesn’t go, we’re booked on Mardi Gras for February.

We sailed last week. We had two sailings cancelled in 2020 and two this year, and our TA called us with the idea of doing a US cruise. Obviously, not Carnival - it was American Cruise Lines American Spirit Puget Sound RT Seattle. Two negative Covid tests and proof of vaccination required. We were very comfortable with the precautions being taken, which included reduced capacity (I think we had 60 pax out of 100 max) and constant mask use by the crew. The one constant theme I heard from other pax: "I'm so glad we can travel again!"

I kept reminding my PVP that we only live just over an hour for the port, and could be onboard immediately if we get the call. Offered to be part of any test cruise, etc. Can't get on the ship FAST enough, we currently have 4 cruises booked between Aug & Dec!
