Be interesting ordering from the casino table, as phones at the table is a big no-no.

Princess states we can place orders from staff with electronic devices by accessing our medallion so it should be possible to order drinks in the casino.

Ditto with Island Wannabe - actually bar tenders quickly got used to the fact that we both had drinks package and we are not heavy drinkers, so it was not the number of visits 🙂 But your question is a good one, most often DW is still getting ready and she likes me to get out from under her feet, so I accept and trudge off to the bar !

Thanks guys - good to know that I am not the only one banished to the bar! Mind you,  there are worse places to be banished to!

While the ability to order via the app is a lovely idea, and certainly has a convenience factor I like, there is something about interacting with a human - the smile, the small talk, etc that can never be replaced!  Plus if one has specific requests that the app cannot handle you'd need a human to fulfill the order anyways :)  Thankfully both options will be available!

I had a lovely experience once, waiting for DW to get ready, I went to the bar for a pre dinner Scotch. Waiter asked if I would like a Double, I said no thanks. With a twinkle in his eye he asked if I would like a Double for the price of a Single. He smiled and said 'Order a Rob Roy and tell them to hold the Vermouth, they give you an extra shot of Scotch instead of Vermouth'. You cannot reproduce that with an App 🙂

Sort of related question. When you have Princess plus does each and every drink or  special coffee  or whatever show up on your folio?  Also, like Couticeguy, I wonder if one person can take both medallions to the coffee shop  snd get Two coffees to take back to room in the early AM?  Thx.

We have bought the drinks package. So, if I go ahead to the bar, with my wife joining me in 10 minutes or so later, it looks like I cannot get her a drink ready for when she arrives.

that wasn't our experience.   For example I would wait for my husband in the Princess theatre and he would go and get both of our drinks from a bar.   He was never declined, he didn't carry my medallion, and in every instance the drinks were "charged" to the correct account (I say charged because we had the drinks package).

I think bartenders can tell in the system what's what.  I imagine repeat customer sticks well in their minds.  I imagine they are pretty reasonable if customer seems reasonable.  After all, you weren't asking for 4 or 6 drinks for your seatmates in the theater!!

I'm an early riser, DW is not. Can I take both medallions to the international Cafe and bring back 2 coffees to the cabin?

Yes.  I don't see a problem there at all.  Have done similar.  Medallion = Cruise Card in terms of a tap to pay situation.  They can tell if you have a drink package that makes the coffee free.  Also, they know the cabin number, so it won't be like you found a Medallion on the floor and are out for a free drink on a stranger.

Princess does know. Does not show in your folio. Normally yes you can order two coffees if you bring both medallions.

Yes absolutely.  My husband did that every morning for two weeks and never took my medallion.   Would bring me back my specialty coffee with his along with yummy pastries.  The best husband (but also he had no issues what so ever with being asked for the 2nd medallion)

I guess by definition, if one has a Plus package the other must have one too. Often International Cafe did not bother to swipe cruise card.

I don't see the difference between handing over two cards and handing over two Medallions.

Wow, you don't see a difference? Cards are rectangular and Medallions are circles! 😁

Surely it isn't an issue when ordering non-alcoholic drinks?  These are uncapped when on a drinks plan and won't require "responsible" drinking.

I think it's more about 'sharing' a drink package. With the Plus plan, there may be less concern over that too....

It's not about responsible drinking. It is about not sharing with others that do not have the package. The terms clearly state:

  • Only one beverage is allowed per passenger per order (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

I could be 'snarky' and reply about how 'special' I must be as multiple times ( only one exception ) I have ordered 'an adult beverage' AND a San Pellegrino water AT THE SAME time with the beverage package in place at the time with NO additional charge !!!

I've even had bartenders ask If I wanted a 'double' when ordering a 'single malt' 🤑

I like bottled water with my (dry white) wine and when in Vines I was always ordering them separately. Finally the bartender told me I could order both at once. .  YMMV  I would just always ask if it's ok as I wouldn't want to be charged for one of them, especially post-Covid when there might be a lot of new staff and (perhaps) new rules. 😏

In the past a double has always been available but it is counted as 2 drinks on the package

Yes obviously ordering a Double is different from ordering Two G&Ts 🙂

I have never had a problem getting drinks in the casino either from a passing wait staff or just going up the the bar - rarely had a wait

We often get each other coffees or drinks - we used to note the other person's folio # on the back of the cruise card.

With the medallion its even easier - the crew's system shows other pax in the cabin and their accounts, or travel companions, or whatever allows them to see us, and we had no issues at all with crew posting purchases to the correct accounts / drink packages.    This technology worked well.  Not sure it works any better than keying in folio numbers, but certainly not any worse.

We also prefer to goto the bar, or ask a waiter, for our order.  The bartenders got to know us after the first day or so and knew we both had the package.   We didn't use the app to order, mostly because we don't lug our phones around with us on the ship. 😁

I often get a double as well. The only place I've had issues with a drink package is when ordering in the theater and the waiter gets the drink from the Casino Bar. If I'm on the upper level and they get my drink from Wheelhouse there's not a problem but, when I'm on the lower level and the waiter gets my drink from the Casino Bar, I have been charged for the drink on multiple instances. It's annoying to discover that I've been charged and then have to go to the Passenger Services Desk to have the charge removed. They always ask "if I'm sure" it wasn't in excess of the drink limit. GAH! I don't know what the issue is with the staff in the Casino Bar. No other venue manages to screw things up like that.

There is a special die behind the bar and they roll it and see what it says.  I guess it comes up "Charge him" each time for you.
