July 25, 2021 Live From Majestic Princess Alaska sailing

Recommended Posts

Right now 428 of us watching - lol. I did notice what looked like a drape or covering of some type over the balconies on the forward facing cabins. If anyone is in one of those cabins, could you tell me what that might be?

Still hoping someone can report on how formal night looked.  What percentage of men wore tuxes or wore a jacket and tie or just wore a nice short and slacks.

One table had a gentleman in an orange futbol jersey, with the women in dresses. The table next to them had full tuxes. From what I saw around the ship I think formal night was maybe 50/50.

Sweet Soul Music was really good and a lot of fun.

I know you can get specialty coffee at the international cafe, is there a place on the lido deck for coffee.? No coffee and cones on the majestic. Thanks for the help and enjoy your vacay!

I haven't been on Majestic, but on Regal and Royal they have specialty coffee in a section of the buffet.

OK, curious to know how it was on your cruise. Especially, since we will be on there Aug 01-08. Here are my main questions:

1) Is there dancing in the piazza and Explorers Lounge?
2) Since it’s a fully vaccinated cruise, are masks required?
3) What is the buffet like?

4) Are masks required in the Alaskan ports.

They often do that for front cabins in bad weather and during maneuvers. Safety and visibility protection for the bridge.

Are reading any of the posts here?  These have all been discussed.

We do have that here, yes. For what it is worth I’ve had much faster service ordering a latte in the app and having it brought to me, versus standing in line to order at the cafe.

Thanks everyone for your posts, I appreciate you taking the time to answer questions.

Question:  What time were you able to get off the ship in Juneau?  Also, which deck did you disembark from?  Thanks.

No guarantee which deck you will get off on.  It all depends on the tides.  We've been on a ship and gotten of on one deck and later in the day the gangway was switched to board on a different deck.  Tides in Alaska can shift quite dramatically over the course of a day.

There seem to be some learning opportunities with getting off the ship in port. We have been sitting in the theater waiting for our tour to get off the ship. They took two groups about 15 minutes ago off deck 6, and then nobody else. I can only assume there are issues with the port authorities and the number of folks that can exit.

You may not know, but I assume others who are not on PCL excursions were able to get off like normal?

I hope I am missing something regarding a dance music venue. On the Royal Princess and Regal Princess there is a "Club 6" adjacent to the casino for DJ music, a bar and dancing.  Where the Club 6 is located on the other ships, the Majestic deck plan shows "VIP Gaming" and "Private Gaming," and I cannot find an alternative to Club 6.  The Princess Patters posted on this thread show "10:30 Onward   All Requests Express with DJ Sakary" in the Hollywood Conservatory.  Has anyone experienced this and can describe what it is like?  Is there a dance floor in the conservatory? Thank you.

Thank you for your response.  Sorry, I guess I should of mentioned that we are doing an independent tour and that is why I was curious as to what time you got off the ship.  Hope your tour is fabulous.

One word of warning about linking your reservations... Princess has stated something to the effect that if somebody tests positive for Covid or develops symptoms, they AND THEIR ENTIRE PARTY OR CLOSE CONTACTS  will be subject to refused boarding and or quarantine.  That COULD put you in jeopardy if your booking has been linked to theirs!

Wow!  Definitely something for some folks to think about before doing this.

We can make reservations for the show times in the theater, but not an actual seat number.image.thumb.png.59570534a96e2f103659aa724526d86f.png

How far in advance were you able to book the shows on the app?

Thanks for sharing your experience on these boards. We'll be there Aug 22nd

Any word on whether or no they will do the "Ultimate Ship Tour"?

I believe that's mentioned in the frequently asked questions on the princess site that unfortunately due to covid they will not be doing those tours behind the scenes

I am fortunate (or crazy enough) to be on the inaugural Princess 2021 Alaska sailings out of Seattle with a really great roll call group on CC that are going to join me in posting to this thread.  If you are on this sailing but not on the roll call, I hope you will also contribute.

We know there are a lot of very valid questions and concerns folks have about what this Alaska season will be like. What I love about live from feeds that have multiple contributors on the same sailing is the various different experiences and point of views presented.  While I appreciate the professional CC, Points Guy etc reviews and live feeds they are, by design, one dimensional.

Our experiences may differ from future sailings as policies, protocols and procedures will most likely be in flux as Princess finds what works (hopefully the the supply chain to restock the bar after we disembark) and what doesn’t (the ap, really?—-what were they thinking?) or as health advisories (OMG don’t even think Delta variant) change.

These are some topics that the roll call group (and hopefully others on our sailing) will try to address on this cruise.  I can not guarantee all will get discussed but hopefully most will.

Please refrain from asking a lot of premature questions if you can.  Try to wait until we are at that stage of the cruise. For example now we might be able to answer questions you have about how we got cruise ready and on Day 2 we could answer questions about All things Embarkation.   Questions about disembarkation would be best posted on our last day at sea.  Otherwise your questions might get buried and forgotten.

1. Getting Cruise Ready and how we fixed problems we had.  Maybe we will have hindsight on what to get worried about and what to just let go once we board.

2. All things embarkation: airport expedience, hotel experiences, transportation to the pier, arrival groups (how strict are they?), Elite/suite priority boarding, Blue lane, green lane and is there really a yellow lane (like I was given for a moment in time), showing proof of vaccination and all other travel docs, which MDR is open for lunch, when were the rooms ready (remember we have no disembarking PAX so YMMV).

3. Dining  Menus for all dining rooms/restaurants/pop ups and room service.  I believe we have some Full Suite in our group so hopefully we will get to see any special menus they get.  Wait times for Anytime, how the reserved times worked (they are every 20 minutes on Dine My Way), is there a chef’s table??????………………….can we dine with others outside of our travel group?

4. Journey View, Entertainment and reservations: I am so curious as to how this will work.  There is a midnight skies event that holds 35 people and it had no spaces left like 5 minutes after it opened.  What happens if show up to a “sold out” event? Can I still just wonder from venue to venue enjoying 10 minutes of this band or spending 20 minutes dancing in another venue like I used to?

5. Internet prices and how to purchase, elite/platinum pricing,  what is the speed

6. Patters if they exist.  I really hope they do since they answer so. many. questions.

7. Capacity  hopefully we will find out how full the ship is.

8. Ocean Now Food, Drinks & Shopping okay I will be one of the first to order a drink (with my beverage package) and wait in my room! How well does the ap work around the ship.

9. How does Princess enforce the restrictions on the unvaccinated?

If you happen to walk by the internet desk, can you ck and see if it's still $9.99/day for 1 device? I just learned that Platinum members no longer get their free wifi mins you get 50% off of the pkgs. Just wondering if any price difference ordering ahead of time or same once onboard.

Thanks! Enjoy the rest of your cruise.
