I'm an American,  we are easily confused😉

I think we all should be writing  the month in letters always.

I always now give a date  09 March 2024 because Americans are different.

Not 3/9/24 or 9/3/24.

I agree and, in fact, in my work as a translator it's standard procedure to avoid potentially serious issues arising out of a misunderstanding of dates. If I'm informed in advance that the piece is for US readership I will switch the day and month order around but the month is always written out in full.

I get a laugh each time I arrive in the USA as the Arrivals forms are in the date format the rest of the world uses. Not the American way.

Apologies, as it's cruises in Australia, I thought it would've made sense to use the date format that we Aussies use.

Don't worry, month-date-year confuses me most of the time too 😂😂

Funny but true story. My youngest nephew went to a wedding in the US just a couple of months before his 21st birthday and was a bit annoyed at the happy couple for having chosen a date that meant he wasn't going to be able to drink alcohol at the wedding. When it came down to it, the people at the venue misread his birth date to mean the 9th of January rather than the 1st of September so he got away with it because they thought he was already 21! :classic_laugh:

New Melbourne port calendar entries in the name of Rhapsody of the Seas:

14 Nov 2023

29 Jan 2024

08 Mar 2024

All are listed as Transits.
These are obviously not placeholders for Wonder of the Seas or a Quantum class ship as they are both too big to enter Port Philip Bay.

More likely they are for Celebrity Edge or another Royal ship of a smaller class.  My guess is the former.

I hope it is Rhapsody as I would like to sail the Suez Canal again.  Has anyone seen anymore of when Rhapsody will be leaving Europe?

Adelaide Ports schedule is showing Rhapsody of the Seas on

12 Nov 2023

06 Mar 2024

The port schedule also lists Celebrity Edge on 09-10April 2024.

To me Rhapsody or placeholder will be coming from either Asia or Europe.

Celebrity edge is 10 meters shorter than voyager class so it shouldn’t be a problem with Melbourne.

I don’t know about Rhapsody? Sydney is to congested to warrant a small ship unless they can use the new wharf at Garden island.09C08753-32C2-47FA-A479-288C17C52840.thumb.jpeg.a84e1e3439714b39c3faabe0514e05bc.jpeg

For folks interested in a circumnavigation of Australia, these port calendar entries are encouraging:

Darwin 22 Feb 2024 Rhapsody
Fremantle 01 Mar 2024 Radiance

Adelaide 06 Mar 2024 Rhapsody

Melbourne 08 Mar 2024 Rhapsody

I’d say the ship names are just placeholders.
Departure port would be Brisbane or Sydney.

Yes, Edge should be ok for Melbourne.  Celebrity don’t seem to do the Aussie circumnavigations any more though.
I don’t think they’ll bring back Rhapsody, or any another Vision class ship.

In the Royal fleet, that only leaves Freedom, Voyager and Radiance classes given the larger classes won’t go to Melbourne.  Don’t know why they’d use a placeholder to obfuscate their intentions in this case.

Sounds like one of the Radiance Class ships from Alaska. By not putting a name up could be a newbie like Jewel or Brilliance.

That would be good, but you’d think the entries would just be in the name of Radiance.
My guess is the November entries (and perhaps others as well) are for Edge, coming from Europe.

The new wharf at Garden island would take a vision class.

Its in the public area of Garden island.

Checkin somewhere else,White bay,OPT ,Barangaroo and a ferry to garden island.

Bags and provision could be trucked in.

Geoff, What do you make of the entry on Darwin Ports for 01December2023 for Celebrity Edge, which has now disappeared? It was there last weekend.

It’s too late to be the ship’s entry in Australia.

Not the right timing for a circumnavigation either.
So, I don’t know.
Good chance a new calendar entry will appear, dated Oct or Nov.

Would the Navy need to agree?  If so, I can’t see it happening.
