Just seen this article.  It answered my question.

Thanks!  My Daughter and her Husband are booked for September on Carnival.  I'll mention this to her and see if she was notified.  She didn't say anything to me this morning when I spoke with her.

Until things get better under control they need to do Vaccinated Only!  I felt very safe on the Nieuw Amsterdam but after having a Connector to SEA and same home I will not fly for awhile.  Our Plane especially from SEA to ATL was loaded with young people and small kids and I wondered how many had been Vaccinated.  I'll be sailing out of Florida for awhile where I can drive to the Port!

Cruising during COVID is a personal choice. I was on the 1st HAL cruise and went with the thought that anyone I met could be a carrier.  Working in health care one looks at each patient as contagious until proven otherwise. Did I cruise in fear, no, I am vaccinated and know that I am less likely to contract a severe/deadly case.

In the airport and transportation you don’t know who may have it.  I avoided anyone wearing their mask under their nose or I even saw a few with the mask under their chin.

Be smart about your choices and who is around you. Enjoy your cruise, I did, and I will cruise again soon.

Are the Carnival cruises sailing with all vaccinated passengers?  I can't keep up with what cruise line is requiring what.

Allowing small percentage (not sure exactly what %) of unvaccinated and required testing for those not vaccinated.  However, now all passengers are required to be tested (vaccinated and unvaccinated) 3 days prior and provide proof of negative test. And, all passengers over 2 required to wear masks onboard unless eating or drinking. Supposedly effective with 8/14 sailings.

And also suddenly all the rules have changed and a new list has come out on the HAL web site - I imagine that was spurred by what is happening on the Alaska cruises

Thank you for pointing this out! I would have never known. It looks like the testing will start for the cruise after ours.

Noted Carnival has just announced masks for everyone over  2 onboard and now requires COVID test for everyone 3 days prior to cruising beginning 8/14.  Holland America??.

Yes, Holland America site now says testing beginning 8/14. Not sure about masks.

Looks like 2nd / 3 rd quarter 2022 might be optimistic regarding no need for 72 hour pre- embarkation testing & masking in indoor public spaces, elevators and such.

Not to enticing for us but we’ll see how it “shakes out”. We’re “staying tuned”.

Be well.

From the prior link:

MASKS & PHYSICAL DISTANCING
We strongly encourage guests wear face masks when in public spaces indoors. ALL guests will be required to wear a face mask – with no exceptions – in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino except when eating or drinking. Guests will also be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the buffet area, and occasionally in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate. As a reminder, masks are required during embark and debark in the terminal, and masks should also be worn during the debarkation process on board..

As usual, things remain in “flux”.

Be well.

Nieuw Amsterdam is still Yellow (8/12), after today’s update, based on data submitted yesterday. Koningsdam is back to Green and Zuiderdam (both crew only) is still Orange.

@SeaHunt yes, I saw that and the press release from Belize’s Tourism Board about Carnival Vista’s 27 confirmed cases.  https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Press-Release----CARNIVAL-VISTA-PORT-CALL-TO-BELIZE-CITY.html?soid=1105674443419&aid=pRDExy-q1lY

I recall a couple of weeks ago the account of one vaccinated passenger who tested positive, and the number keeps increasing. Praying for all involved.

Frankly I'm glad of this, I'm tired of CNN et. al. up the cruise lines bums for every little thing right now.

100% enough is enough . This hysteria should stop in some point . It will be always a case of Covid somewhere . If someone is afraid they should stay home . Talking about it 24/7 doesn't help.

The other extreme is to ignore that Covid even exists. No testing, no one has it.

Transparency is better. Yes, one should not panic over small numbers, but giving no numbers tends to make people think that things are being hidden.

A friend just got back from a Viking cruise around Iceland.  They have testing machines on board.  Everyone gets tested every day.  A few cases- they can isolate the positive cases and then do contract tracing via the badge/bracelets.  Too many cases- they return to port and issue a partial refund.  This takes all the guess work out of it.
