Drink and wifi prices without the package?

We're looking at the Edge for a sailing next year. They offer the simple base price then the "always included" price. I might have 2 drinks each night, my wife doesn't drink at all. So the drinks included may not be worth it.  How much are drinks ala carte? Looking mainly at gin and tonic or occasional martini.

Also, what is the Wi-Fi price for basic internet on your phone per day? Trying to see if the simple price is worth it.

Don’t forget that without the drink package you would pay for teas and coffee’s at Café al Bacio, bottled waters, soft drinks, etc.

be sure to factor things like that in, as well as gratuities.

You can make life simple:

For whatever class of cabin you are looking at take the prices and subtract one from the other.

The difference is your "maximum" saving.

Now subtract the gratuities - what is left must  cover all your drinks (alcoholic,,water, lattes etc) and WiFi. You will probably find the amount you have is well under $25 a day - Celebrity add $100 per person per day to cover AI but only credit a fraction of it when you select Simply Sail. Plus Simply Sail is only available on guarantee cabins

Drinks are going to average at least $10 for alcoholic....the specialty coffees, etc...around 5 or so without booze.

Not sure on the price of bottled water, etc...

As others have said, don't forget the included room gratuities...$15 or so a day per person.

You do the math.

Thanks for the info, but how much are tips pp? and how much is wifi per day if it is bought separately?

Right now I am quoted $2616 for a E5 veranda vs $3549 for the same cabin with AI. That comes out to $78 pp/day difference.

Found this on a google search

From Celebrity website.

• $15.50 USD per person, per day for standard accommodations
• $16.00 USD per person, per day for Concierge Class and AquaClass® staterooms
• $19.00 USD per person, per day for guests of The Retreat

Just looked at my Cruise Planner the cost of wi-fi if purchased before boarding is less than on board.

The Surf wi-fi is $13.50 per day for 1 device and $22.50 for 2 devices.  Daily gratuity depends on cabin category but $14.50 would be a good figure to us to calculate.  I believe that generic bottled water is about $3.  All beverages have a 20% gratuity added to the cost, so a $10 drink would cost $12.

The Always Included fare does include the gratuity of the beverages.

Iike you, I am a moderate drinker and punished by AI.

You do the math.

If you are Elite or above this could be a very good deal,

As Elite you would get free alcoholic drinks for 2 hours a day plus 90 minutes each free WiFi.

If Elite +  same free drinks plus all lattes, teas and chocolate free all the time and 240 minutes each internet time.

We're you able to get Simply Sail rates with an actual cabin or only as a "guarantee"?

If not Elite you have to allow for all drinks and WiFi from your budget of $62.50 and if you only need 1 WiFi package which at per person per day is around $7  leaving around $55 for drinks

First timer with Celebrity.
Can someone tell me what type of coffee is include with the classic beverage package?  Are Expresso, lattes, cappuccinos included at Cafe al Bacio or will there be an additional up charge?

Thank you.

The vast majority of the specialty coffees at Cafe Al Bacio are included in the Classic beverage package - including some with alcohol included.  But there are a few with alcohol that are priced at over $9 and have an upcharge

For that price difference I would take the basic price. Your tips are $15.50 a day so that brings the difference down to $62.50. Do you really want/need unlimited wifi? I typically never get wifi on a cruise. The one time I did, I paid by the minute. I checked e-mails a handful of times. Think I spent around $20 of the course of the trip on wifi. But typically if you are just checking e-mails you can wait until you are in port and stop in a restaurant or bar that has free wifi.

If you only have a few drinks and barely use wifi the simply sail is much better.  I just go with the AI overall since I prefer to have everything charged ahead of time and can break it down.  The one time I did track the drinks, I did save on having the drink package overall  but thats just me, everyone is unique.  I enjoyed the fresh oj and many coffees/teas overall plus always a pelligrino bottle for dinner, adds up quickly.   The wifi as nice as it is, I only use it to clear out my work email once or twice a day so I dont go home to the 100-150 emails I get a day from work, really fun when your on vaca for 3 weeks. I prefer to have a very low on board account when leaving ship since I most likely will have other charges from the different locations visiting.  There is no wrong or right reason to get the AI, the ease of having any drink, any time makes it easier, less paper slips to track of.

We are on a 9 day cruise with 4 sea days and the tips/gratuity  alone will be $279.  Even though we are not too big of drinkers, I think it will be nice not to worry about a big bill at the end.

I’m assuming that we can still have  tequila shots or Baileys 🥃 .

This was allowed on NCL a few years ago.

I like paying for what I get, not overpaying (for things that I don't get).

Tequila, yes.

Baileys, no.

Baileys is on the Premium list so you can still get it with the Classic package but there will be a small up-charge.

You have had a lot of useful tips. So please would you answer a question about your quote:

Was the lower price only available as a " guarantee" cabin or were you able to book a specific one? Thanks

But thankfully you can still get specialty coffees with Baileys in them on the Classic so long as the Cafe al Bacio price remains under $9

You didn't put how many nights,  which could make a huge difference in the figures.

Gratuities are automatically added at $15.50 per person per day.  The Surf package on my future cruise is showing at $14.95 per person per day.  Sometimes they go on sale (usually 10%)

We have gone with and without a package.   There are plenty of free beverages available, and we take a refillable water bottle with us.    We could go the entire cruise without purchasing a single drink.   I do miss just grabbing bottles of water when we do not have a package.  And the coffees at Café Bacio.   We also gamble in the ports (or did pre pandemic) and a lot of the casinos have free drinks.

Usually I consider it a great deal if the drink package ends up "costing us" somewhere around $15 per person per day.  Any more than that and it's usually just cheaper to buy something if we want it.

Also, as mentioned above,  the difference between picking your own room and getting a guarantee room is a big factor for us.   Although most TAs do a  group booking  that is room only for the same price as Celebrity or cheaper then the simply sail (or senior rate), and you are able to pick your room.
