My all time favorite NCL ship is The Norway but that's a blast in the past. Pearl would be current favorite.

I am going on the Pearl next October (2022). What do you like best about the Pearl?

Our favorite was our first NCL ship, the Dream.  No Haven, no specialty restaurants, and a tiny gym.  But the food in her restaurants was great, and the ship had a nice, cozy feel about her.  She was the smallest ship in NCL's fleet at 58,000 tons (still bigger than Titanic) but she was the only NCL ship that could fit through the Kiel Canal, and transiting that canal one of the many highlights of the 12-day Baltic cruise from Dover NCL use to have.  The ship literally flipped her lid to get under the Kiel bridges.  Her stack had been modified to flip over.  NCL sold Dream shortly after we sailed on her because she didn't really fit in with the new Freestyle philosophy and there was no room to add the specialty restaurants to gouge more money out of us.

I like the Bliss because of it's observation lounge, spice, non smoking casino, whole color palette of the ship is pleasing to the eye.  But the Getaway has a special place in my heart too, as it is the ship that really sold me on cruising NCL.

Wonder why Escape is leading the pack?

After 50 votes both Dawn & Star have yet to find a single fan, while Bliss, Encore and Escape have a combined 42% of the vote ……. Spirit surprisingly has 10% of the vote.

That speaks volumes

The Spirit doing well isn’t a surprise to me. There are quite a few of us who love that ship, and it always gets lots of good mentions on here.

Size and location mean that fewer people on here have sailed Spirit lately compared to the newer ships, so it has a disadvantage there.

For me the Escape is the sweet spot of the NCL mega ships. The improvements over the Breakaway/Getaway were a real benefit (Food Republic/Brew House) and the changes made for newer ships (race tracks, loss of deck space) are a negative to many people.

We loved both Escape and Encore, but would give the edge to Escape.

We're sundeck people and Escape had more sundeck space outside of Vibe and the Haven.

Escape had sundeck space for all passengers on deck 19 outside of Vibe, which was very nice. It had a bar, whirlpool and most people didn't even know it was there until like the 3rd or 4th day.

On Encore they expanded Vibe and this extra sundeck space on deck 19 didn't exist.

Escape also has Spice which Encore doesn't have and we did miss it a little.

Of course Encore has the Observation Lounge which is just an outstanding space but is less used on the Caribbean itineraries that we frequent. It was great for my aunt and uncle, who spent much of their days there sitting at the bar. And we always knew where to find them. Lol..

Because of these minor differences, we've chosen Joy for our next sailing in January, 2022.

From what I can see, Joy has the OL, Spice and the extra sundeck space on deck 19.

Maybe it'll be the best of both worlds for us. We'll find out soon enough and, anyway, it's a cruise and they are all awesome to us.

ah ok. Escape/Breakaway/Getaway always lose points because of the smoking casino but I hope one day they will get smoking room like the Bliss

Escape wins for me because I think it has the perfect lineup of the things I like: the larger tube slide, the double deck ropes course with multiple zip lines, the specific waterfront bars, headliners, Spice H2O, and especially District Brew House.

The ships before have some of those things, and the ships after have others.  Escape is the only one with all of them.
