It was empty on the first sailing on the Mariner but I saw pics on FB of Labor Day weekend  Packed!!

It’s been that way on all of the sailings we have done this year (Adventure, Freedom, Mariner). You just logon to the Royal-WiFi or whatever it is on the given ship, and click the use the app for free icon without buying a package. Then iMessage works.

My friend was on Mariner for Labor day and was able to iMessage people at home. Couldn't facetime or face call. And if I'm remembering right she got photos but couldn't send them. None of us on the ship with her had an iPhone so it was all messages home. I tried facebook messenger and that did not work. I didn't bother to try whatsapp or something else.

Laura was successful in moving us from MTD to first seating. Table 266 I think.

 

Actually ran into our MDR waiter from test cruise MDR. 

 

He actually recognized us first, then I saw the name tag and remembered him. I kept calling him Donut 🍩

That explains the texts I received to iPhone and Apple Watch while on Ovation in September….at the time I was worried I’d neglected to turn off cellular data!

Sometime till 2019, this used to work and then for a while most reports had that "feature" cut off. The texting option within the RCI app may have forced RCI to open some avenue for at least iMessage texts to get through. The question is, like last time this worked, do text messages from apps like Google Voice also get through. Also, last time, the texts getting through were limited to ships with O3B internet, now it may be fleet wide.
