Celebrity Edge (11/6 - 11/14/21)

Edge (pier 25?) will dock at 7am on 11/14.

i have 2 choices of flight back to Virginia/IAD:

- 8:45am (united)

- 1:05pm (united) but +$100 more expensive ($300 total)

doors of airplane close 20 minutes before flight so 8:25am.

Think i can walk off (only have 1 carry on luggage), get uber, and make airport at 8am?

Or get the 1:05pm?

Thx

I would not chance the morning flight.  Too many variables out of your control and just because the ship is scheduled to dock at 7 does not mean it will be exactly that  timeand then it would be awhile before passengers can disembark.

I would never book a flight that early

You will need to deal with immigration after walking off and I doubt your cruise ship suggests that early time as doable

A wise choice.  Enjoy a relaxing, stress free breakfast in the ship's dining room and avoid the rush of those who "just have to be the first off the ship".

We have an 11:00 in February but I’d never do earlier then that.  The FLL airport can be really busy.  We’ve made it to the gate by 10:00 but that means self assist luggage being some of the first off the ship, cab to airport and no delays.  While we are pre check it still takes time to wait in line to check bags.  We’ve done the 11:00 before but it always makes me nervous.

No....a couple of years ago we were on a cruise with friends.  One lives in Fla and drove and parked at the pier in FLL , one flew.  They did the walk off, the one who drove, drove the other to the FLL airport the got to the airport at 8'oclock. It was about 8:30 when he got to his gate.  Obviously, getting to your gate around 8:30 for an 8:30 flight.....you won't be on it.

Pre covid you could have possibly done it if everything went absolutely perfect, you carried off your own luggage, a taxi was waiting right there for you etc. and I’m all about the gamble, but even I wouldn’t take that gamble. That’s too stressful for me.

Is it a Saturday or Sunday - no way

How many ships are in port, more than three - no way

Immigration officers on coffee break - no way

Any flights prior to 11am are still risky

Hope it’s not Southwest!
