We have been emailing the requests and have had some delays of a few days.

Our issue has been with the OBC being removed after making a change to a booking. Yesterday, we changed a booking from a balcony to a mini (for Nov of 2022).  After doing so, the Stockholder OBC was removed.

After spending 30 mins on hold, the customer service rep told me that they still showed the OBC on their end.  She could not explain why it was not showing on my end?  Not much help!

I'm just going to resubmit the request.

This can be helped if the person making the booking change advises Princess to restore the S/H OBC.  So, either point it out to Princess rep or make sure your TA knows so they can alert Princess.  I was affected by this as I thought a recent change was going to be a re-fare at first and then didn't advise the TA about it.  I can re-submit, but have not yet done so.  One or two people reported getting it restored with a phone call.  I suppose I could try that if I called Booking Support on the phone and indicated I had it before the changes.  I imagine they can look it up in history and see it was there.

my last one took 8 days from the time I faxes the info until it displayed.

I recently refared and yesterday noticed that the credit had been removed. A phone call to Princess had it replaced immediately. Wonders never cease!

I am on the phone with the them right now. The rep told me they are working on Oct. 26 today and are running way behind. She asked me to email her photos of my proof of ownership. I used photos and she applied the credit immediately. The whole process took 9 minutes.

Yay! Princess!

11 days to posting!

After sending an updated version of an old home-made fax  my onboard credit was posted on day 11 after sending it. This was for a 2/28/22 trip.

My old fax had a paragraph thanking them for their efficiency - based on the pre-Covid postings that happened in minutes or hours.  I don't think I need that paragraph in future requests. Sigh. The problem is not the time lapse, but you don't know if they actually GOT the fax.

Still, a nice benefit!

Has anyone had a s/h obc refused? I and many others on the Carnival boards have had obc denied for 2022 cruises, because they are ‘reduced-rate’. It’s making me consider switching from the Panorama to Majestic in January, since $200 in s/h and military obc on Princess makes the fares roughly equal. I’m just afraid of Princess using the same justification for stiffing shareholders, no matter how short-sighted it would be.

We have never been denied our stockholder obc when cruising with Princess.  Lately, it's been taking longer for it to post to our account,  so give it two weeks.  Personally, I feel Princess is a bit above Carnival in all aspects.

No one single time.

BTW- I was told by the phone rep- they are awarding CCL stockholder credit for any booked cruises through 2023. (used to be- you needed proof within 90 days of the cruise). She asked me at least 3 times if I had any other cruises booked- so she could add the credit.

YMMV

I've had shareholder benefits for HAL rejected, and my Princess one has been in email limbo for about 35 days. Though my trips are fully comped, so it's kind of hit or miss if they qualify or not (technically not reduced fare or complimentary-- but it's also not me paying).

Rates not available to everyone such as Friends&Family rates, travel agent rates, special casino rates, etc. are not eligible for stockholder OBC.

Any pricing for normal sales is eligible for stockholder OBC.

If you read the Carnival board, you will find several people reporting that they have been turned down on normal rates available to everyone. There are even people reporting that they were approved, but then after boarding finding out that the shareholder OBC was taken away.

A Carnival shareholder just reported receiving this detailed justification for denial of his shareholder benefit request on a Carnival cruise:

Regrettably, we are unable to process your request and as a valued investor, we trust you understand.

Currently, only those rates available which are a publicly advertised fare available to the general public, not an offer that requires a qualifying VIFP Club Member number, will be eligible for consideration of the shareholder onboard credit benefit.

We value your loyalty and understand that the shareholder onboard credit benefit may have been applied previously to exclusive offers for our VIFP (past guest) members, Casino players, complimentary cruises, discounted Resident, Senior, Military, Travel agent/ employee rates; however, these are discounted rates which are excluded from the shareholder benefit and we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding.

In closing, we ask that you not let this color all the fun that is in store for you when you sail with us.

This is a really a drastic tightening in the way Carnival cruise line used to interpret the Carnival corporation shareholder benefit.  Of course, Carnival Corporation also owns Princess.  Hopefully Princess cruise line wont go the same way (e.g., denial of benefit for cruises booked using Captain's Circle rates).

We are now 13 days (and counting) when we sent in our initial request for Shareholders Credit.  A few days ago we e-mailed a 2nd request (marked accordingly).  Since our cruise is less than 2 weeks distant we are assuming that our requests have gone into some dark hole (it is the way of the COVID world).  So what to do?  We simply print-out copies of our e-mails along with a copy of the appropriate back-up document (indicating ownership of the shares) and take them along on the cruise.  Sometime during the first few days of the voyage, when Guest Relations does not have a line, I simply pay them a visit with the documentation and politely ask them to take care of the issue.  When this has happened with past cruises the onboard folks either immediately add the OBC or they will e-mail the home office and eventually add the OBC.

Since all but first time Princess cruisers will have a Captain's Circle number and most will have likely booked with the "early booking discount" available when signing in to Princess, if that policy was implemented it would basically eliminate the benefit for almost everyone. And first time Princess cruisers are probably less likely to own CCL stock anyway.

I faxed documents 11/8 and credits are not yet posted. Called yesterday and was told they are behind in processing and my request should be done by December. Seemed like rep received this call often as her responses were rather canned. My cruise is in February so I will chill.

I’ll share my experience.  I emailed my request on Oct 28 for my Nov 28 cruise, and followed up with a fax on Nov 3. When it hadn’t been credited by Nov 15, (also 13 days out) I felt there was a reasonable chance it wasn’t going to be credited so I called. The very friendly agent asked for my email address and searched for it and pulled it. I watched it pop up on the personalizer as she did it. Very easy. I was not willing to find out if there was some administrative reason they wouldn’t be able to do it once onboard.

Wow, thank you for all the information regarding this subject!!  I called the 1-800-872-6779 Ext. 30317 number and was on hold for approx 4 minutes.  I was assisted by Rosie, she was wonderful!!!

I snail mailed (dumb) my proxy statement and letter requesting a credit back in the first week of October.  I cruise in December and had not seen my credit.  Rosie checked my records and they rec'd my letter on Oct. 30 and credited my account, she indicated it appears to have fallen off and she re-applied it !! I logged in after our call and it was there!!                                                                                           I want to share some information given to me by Rosie-  She said it is best to send the information via email.  They are all working from home and somebody goes in to the office to get the mail approx. 1 time per week.  The electronic records can be sent directly to the processors.  Currently they have 1,700 pieces of mail to go through and yes they are behind.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         (Sorry to the people that love our USPS. I should have known better when last March (2021) I received 3 Christmas cards that were post marked Dec. 4, 2020, in my opinion they are no longer dependable).

YMMV, but here's my data point:

I submitted my request for my December 2021 and March 2022 sailings on October 7. Nothing posted by October 15, so I called the phone number (800 872 6779 ext. 30317) listed on the information sheet that day. After about 15 minutes on hold, the phone agent went and searched for my submission and applied the credits for both voyages.

Interesting as I was on the Princess Chat yesterday & they gave me the following number 1-800-774-6237 but your phone number sounds better. What information did they want from you?

I just called the 800 number that was posted & the nice lady on the phone looked & saw that I had just cruises on October 31 & she was able to manually apply the credits. A great number to use if you need it as someone answered the phone right away.

This information is what makes Cruise Critic so great.
