My Grandad had a bath in front of the fire. I don't think he would have liked his bath in a ships corridor. Too many folk walking past and tripping over it.

I realised that's how it read after I posted it was waiting on a comment

Ive always wanted to enjoy a trip on the Orient Express

Not exactly cheap though

£2,400 ish per night for a basic cabin for two for a one night journey

No shower or toilet facilities at all for the cabin. Just a wash basin in the cabin. Shared gents and ladies toilets at the end of each carriage only! No shower facilities at all you can access!

And yet still considered the height of luxury

Suites do have their own  toilets and the opportunity to shower  I believe. But normally just 3 suites on each train available to book for a small upgrade fee of an extra £1,500 per cabin for one night

You could always ask a suite guest if you could borrow their shower!

You are 100 per cent paying for tradition and service rather than comfort and facilities

(Risk of murders on board as well I've heard)

I believe they do still offer nightly turndown service though for anyone looking to switch from P and O

I imagine there's also a chocolate on each pillow as well

Not sure they do towel animals?

Just to say that there is no turndown service on Princess either at the moment.

Too late to jump ship now. You will have some tales to tell about having to turn down your own bed. Did you take a box of mint chocs on board just in case  . Have a great cruise.🤣

You sure they've not put you in a quarantine cabin and just not told you yet?

Be careful you might be getting disembarked soon !

Lol

Surely the comments regarding single usage of towels and the environmental impact must be taken with a pinch of salt.

How many millions of litres of fossil fuel does a cruise ship burn during a two week cruise regardless of laundry capacity.

They've got to start somewhere I guess

I wondered why the rest of the cabins in the corridor were empty!

I bet they told you that they had upgraded you to one of their exclusive  24 hr Foc room service cabins ?

And gave you free wifi?

Thats the warning signs

You can still dress up for formal nights as long as you don't leave the cabin

You must choose your hotels very carefully Avril?

It's rare nowadays

(Edit unless you are saying you've not stayed in a hotel since 2010?)

We knew what we wanted in a hotel and so we did choose carefully.  The last hotel we've stayed in for longer than overnight was in Borneo 2008. 2010 we began cruising.

We had turndown service wowzz but he did ask me first if I wanted it and I said yes and quite a few people had it along the corridor, I’m sure if you ask your cabin steward will do it ..

To be honest we don't want it, and it means we don't have to tidy the cabin up before we go out for the evening!

Hmm we never leave our cabin in an untidy state, not always neat  but never untidy.

You have opened can of worms here ! Define the difference between 'not neat" and "untidy' !

I blame P and O cost cutting on cabins becoming more untidy in recent years!

Too many rif raf on board

Would never have happened in the glory days when you had to pay three times as much just to be allowed on the ship

Standards have slipped
