Rare Kmkub Posted February 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2022 I was surprised not to see a thread on this, so if there is, please direct me to it. We are considering Harmony or Oasis, but the rules indicate that unvaxxed guests will have private time at venues. Is this true?
crzndeb Posted February 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) Not true. Not sure where you read that. Glad Rockmom explained it perfectly as I was editing to add exactly what she said. 😉 Edited February 2, 2022 by crzndeb
rockmom Posted February 2, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) Everyone 12 and older is required to be vaccinated. Kids 11 and under do not have to be vaccinated. There are venues set up as vaccinated only where the unvaccinated can't go. Main dining has a vaxxed dining room, unvaxxed (anyone traveling with an unvaxxed child is considered unvaxxed themselves in this regard). If someone traveling with an unvaxxed child wants to go ashore, they are required to only take a Royal excursion, they can't go out on their own, not even to just look around the port. NRWPA Posted February 2, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2022 Per Royal Caribbean website (for all cruises leaving from the US): All Royal Caribbean guests age 12 and older must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days before sailing. Kids age 5 to 11 who have been vaccinated may present proof of full vaccination and follow the protocols for vaccinated guests.

smplybcause Posted February 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2022 It's very much not smart to take any cruising protocols from anywhere but the cruise line's website.

You really should go to Royal's actual site and click on the Health Protocols from the city/country where you will be sailing from. And keep in mind, those can be updated at any time. Currently restrictions are tighter than the article you posted. Always go to the source--the cruise line's own website--for the most current and correct info.

Extremely outdated. And yes, back then, if unvaxxed guests (kids) or those that had gotten a very rare exception to sail without being vaccinated, if they wanted to visit the gym, they had small bits of time. It's annoying that it's not dated, but you can tell when the author says 'starting in November' before talking about some upcoming requirements. Again, and I can't stress this enough, go to the actual website and read what current protocols are for each country--they have changed many, many times since last summer. Protocols for this coming summer season in Europe have not been released and will probably be different. Edited February 2, 2022 by sgmn

If the child is not with them, they can do what they want. 1

Joseph2017China Posted February 2, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 2, 2022 The main reason for the vaccination rule, is that the ship goes to countries that require it, so therefore, they are forced to require it. Ships are international and must follow multiple countries laws

Just reading someone else's post that you were considered not vaccinated if you were traveling with a child who was not. I guess I was kind of thinking that those who were vaccinated could go into those areas if the non vaccinated person was not with them at the time? If the child is not with you and you are vaccinated, you can go into the casino. Your thinking is correct. You are considered not vaccinated if the child is physically with you at the time. 1

But there's nothing to prevent vaccinated people from using those facilities at the same time. In the Casino and fitness center on the Harmony, you still had to wear a face mask vaxxed or unvaxxed. According to the blog that shall not be named, Royal released their protocols through April and left it open that vaccine mandates can become even stricter. They did not rule out required boosters and lowering the age of mandatory vaccines for children. Doesn't look like the vaccine mandates are gong to ease up anytime soon, and even get stricter. I actually called today to inquire about a cruise this fall and the first thing the rep asked me was if everyone in the party was vaccinated. I took that to mean that they are anticipating vaccine mandates well into the fall.
