Wonder of the Seas – The Inaugural Cruise Live

Recommended Posts

Here’s something The Bird has never seen before, the Promenade fire door closed. Earlier, the Hi Fog fire suppression system was activating, flooding the Promenade with a high pressure water mist. Quick thinking staff were able to save the classic vintage car, but water damage to the Promenade of Royal’s newest ship was extensive.

Oh no - What damage was done??

Beth

Lots of videos of the water pouring down, much more than a mist.  Not sure of the extensive damage that Bird is saying exists as other site says fire doors are open and promenade is open as usual.

Please elaborate?

The crew did an outstanding job and vacuuming up the water and getting the space reopened.

There continues to be water draining from the walls which is being dealt with continuous mopping. Around our parts, Water intrusion into walls usually has other undesirable side effects in about a week’s time with mold and mildew. Down on Deck 4, water is dripping from the ceiling in spots. Again, they are dealing with it with mops.

The crew of the Wonder of the Seas have been… well… Wonderful.

Royal Caribbean wanted to ensure the successful launch of this flagship of the fleet. Approximately 95% of the crew are seasoned Royal crew employees (although some have been off for nearly two years because of the pandemic). And a lot of the remaining 5% “new hires” are performers (e.g., Aqua Theater team) who do not directly interface with guests.

Service has been great. Sailing with just shy of 4000 passenger has been a good test.
