Good afternoon.   I survived my dose four of Moderna vaccine.  I had a great afternoon yesterday and just some nagging coughing and a migraine during the night.  It seems every vaccine causes a migraine.   I have learned that with the annual flu shot.

I live Cheesesteak but it is not on very many menus in the Midwest.  Chocolate covered raisins are yummy too, basically a a snack for the movie theater.   We are heading to dinner tonight at one of my favorite restaurants for my brother's 79th birthday and will start with a good cocktail.   The last time we ate there for dinner was in February 2020 right when all hell was breaking loose.  We go for a late lunch, prices are lower and the decibel level is about halved.   They have a really good Keto cheesecake.

I am no fan of Woody Allen but his quote is pretty good, I will take it as I would like to die in my sleep.   The sandwich looks tasty, the cocktail looks really good with strawberry liqueur rather than seedy fresh strawberries.   I like Zin so today's wine looks like a winner.  Have never been to Mallorca but Spain is lovely.

Prayers for everyone on Roy's care list.   Prayers that the Summit in Belgium goes well and comes with some answers for Ukraine.     Praying that Putin implodes.    🙏🙏🙏

More food porn today from Nami Sushi.    I don't think John got a Mariner's discount for our meals there.   Two soft shell crab rolls and Shrimp Tempura with a Shiso Sour, minus the bitters and the Shiso leaves.

@dfishyour experience about being told you were a no-show for your phone appointment reminded me of when that happened to DH with the VA.  He had been sitting by the phone too.  How do they manage to mess things up so much?!

Beats me but they seem to be pros at it.

Good morning from foggy San Francisco.

I love a good Philly cheesesteak, but since we moved back from Pennsylvania, we haven't had many.  We lived just outside Newark, DE, and there was a place that made the best Phiily cheesesteaks with sautéed onions and provolone not whiz (cheese whiz). Sadly, the last time we were in Newark, Angie's was not closed, but had been replaced with condos. 😒

In Philadelphia the two biggest names in cheesesteaks are across the street from each other.  One uses provolone and the other whiz.  Each has its very, very loyal following who would never dream of patronizing the other place.

This chocolate lover draws the line at chocolate covered raisins, since I do not like raisins. There are a fre cocktails I like.

Add me to the list of those who are not Woody Allen fans, but I agree with quote.

We'll pass on the frino, wine and meal, but the meal would be nice on a warm day.

We were in today's port in 2002 on the Noordam III.

Yesterday DH did not feel like gettimg off the ship so I went out for a walk.  I walked down Embarcadero to Pier 39 and found that the area has really changed since our visit in 2000.  Today, DH is staying on the ship, and I plan to take the streetcar (not the cablecar) into Union Square.

@Rowsby I hope your DH is better soon and can come home soon.  Take care of yourself.

@dfish  Debbie, sorry about the doctor's phone appointment.  I hope you get some answers soon.

@kazu Jacqui, I'm glad Jose is finally on the waiting list, and I hope he gets moved up on the list soon.  Hope the vet has some answers about Marley.  Take care.

@marshhawk  I hope your DH gets his pain relieved soon for both your sakes.

@St. Louis Sal  I hope the drug trial review has some positive news for you.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

All good days! I like cheesesteaks, although I haven't had one in a long time. I only used to eat chocolate covered raisins (Raisinets) when in the movie theater as a kid. National cocktail day will be popular; I have to think of something that I have the ingredients to make.

Funny quote.

I like the meal, drink and wine.

I've been to Spain, but not Palma de Mallorca. Thanks for the pictures.

Fortunately the storm petered out before it got to us, so just wind and rain last night. I was up very early this AM to move my car from the garage to the street, in case work in the alley might prevent me getting out for my doctor's appointment. They were doing something down at one end earlier, but that's about it. I'm not sure what I'll do for my 8AM dentist appointment tomorrow. And they're forecasting snow for Saturday and a high of 34F for Sunday!!

@Rowsby I'm sorry to hear of DH's hospitalization. Prayers for you both. I hope your sleep improves.

@Cruzin Terri Wishing you safe travels and good blood test results.

@aliaschief It looks like you're having a grand time!

@dfish That's awful about the doctor phone visit! I'm glad your PCP is helping.

@kazu Prayers for Jose, you and Marley. Sorry to hear about more icy weather. I hope the home visiting vet has some insight for you. I'm glad Jose got on the wait list, and hopefully the wait won't be too terribly long.

@marshhawk I'm sorry to hear DH still has a lot of pain; it's hard when you can't get answers for your symptoms (I know all about that).

@ger_77 I hope DH's call with the cardiologist results in a plan to get him back to his usual self. Oh my on the goings on in the salon.

@St. Louis Sal That Lenten event at your church sounds wonderful. And I hope the screening for the drug trial goes well.

Prayers for the Care List, Ukraine and its people and helpers. Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

Good morning from Aruba! We did a food tour last night in Curacao that consisted of dining at three restaurants. Main meal was as close to waterfront as you can get highlighted by a beautiful sunset behind the ship.

I have a local pizza place and I go there for cheesesteaks.  For me it is about the fresh soft roll and how good they chopped and cook the beef so that it is tender.  For cheese I can add my own if they did not give me enough.

Costco has very good chocolate covered raisins.  Just saying.  big and plump

I discovered my new "favorite cocktail on the Zuiderdam in February.  An Aperol Spritz:

  • 1 part Aperol
  • 1 part dry Prosecco
  • Splash of club soda
  • Orange slice, for garnish
  • Serve over ice

classic aperol spritz recipe

We often have these before dinner when cruising!

Greetings from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.  It is a very rainy day here.  As a matter of fact it rained the whole way down from South Carolina this morning and I anticipate that it will be the same going home.

Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you Roy for putting me on the Cares list today.  I almost feel foolish asking for prayers when there are so many with problems and illnesses far greater than mine.

I am waiting for my appointment with the Doctor at 3:45 pm.  I tried to see if there was an earlier slot but—no luck.

I do know the results of my blood work.  While not perfect, they are pretty darn close.  The CBC was really good as was the Sed Rate.  The C-Reactive Protein came in a 9.3.  Normal was below 8.  That is still a big improvement over 19 the last time, 15 the time before that and 58 the first time.  So I’ll take it.  We’ll see if the doc says the prednisone dosage can be further reduced.

Will write more later.

God bless,

Terri

Thanks for sharing about the fourth shot.  Wondering if anyone else has had a fourth Pfizer?

I know some here had Moderna as a booster after two Pfizer’s, as it was said to provide better immunity.

The Moderna booster dose is a half dose, whereas the Pfizer booster is the same strength as the original shots, I believe. They are supposed to have equal efficacy.

I'm scheduled to get a 4th shot (booster) on Saturday. My 3rd Moderna shot was a full dose, as it was given under the immunosuppressed person protocol. I would imagine the one on Saturday will be the half dose as my "booster".

That is certainly worth celebrating!    While perhaps not perfect, it shows really marked improvement.  So happy for you!  I may go buy a bottle of wine for a toast.

@kazu Good news about Jose being on the list.  You will get there!   Lean on us.

@marshhawk this is your ‘big sister’. Get your own tests, please don’t keep putting them off.

Absolutely.  Your symptoms may very well not be aging.  You need to get those tests done.

Yay on the improvement in your lab tests! I hope the doctor feels your steroid dose can be reduced, and hopefully no flare of symptoms if he/she does.

I received my fourth Moderna shot two weeks ago with very little reaction the next day.  My doctor recommended it as I am immunocompromised (leukemia from exposure to Agent Orange) and my age (82).  Had to have a new record card made as the original only had room for three shots.

I should mention that I may be 82 and immunocompromised, but today I took my chainsaw and cut down a tree leaning over the driveway cut it up for firewood and cut and stacked the branches and put the firewood in a pile for my neighbor to use.  This afternoon I need to start on my income tax return.
