Our last cruise was March 2020, her last time out before shutdown. We had to return to port twice, missed a port and had an abbreviated visit to one. Celebrity was gracious with refunds and credits.
We were beyond excited for this 2022 trip. Triple vaxxed, masked, stayed away from crowds. Crew and ship were wonderful.
We did 3 ship excursions and 2 on own. Masked. Beach, beach and beach with one exception.
Most passengers were unmasked, including the indoor Silent Disco and in elevators. They moved the disco to outdoors later in the trip.
Early in we lost  CD Tim and then AD Gigi.

Yesterday morning husband started to feel blah and by afternoon we were in cabin. He had a fever. I had brought antigen tests and he tested positive. Doctor came up, took info, did a PCR. It was an hour wait for results which were +.
I was feeling fine. We were sad. We wanted to enjoy our last day and see our new friends and wonderful MDR team that evening. Instead we were in the cabin waiting for results (they also gave me an antigen which was through an app that was really confusing and I work w software all the time). I was neg.

More waiting till he got moved. I was starving (husband was nauseous), and it was almost impossible to get to room service. No answer on phone, or busy. Finally did and food came up fast though it was the strangest Turkey club I’ve ever seen. Onions, no bacon, weird.

Finally 3 hazmat suited crew came up to move him, and one was spraying the hallway in my husbands wake. It was so sad.

I was told up go to deck 5 to disembark early as we had an early flight. John the hotel manager brought me to front of line. My SeaPass card pinged that I needed to go to Deck 2. Got to deck 2 and someone said I needed to go to deck 3. Deck 3 said I had to go to deck 5. By now I was in tears from guilt leaving him (I have to be home for work - and our cat) and total stress. Finally I was escorted off by a crew member and left in the terminal on my own.

Husband will be at a hotel that we chose bc ship ran out of their normal hotel space. He’s still waiting in his cabin. They said he would have a “concierge” during his quarantine. We don’t know much more. All the docs we got were for mid-cruise situations. I guess we will get a refund for the final day.

I hope he has a balcony at the hotel. Was hard to tell on app w lousy wifi.

Wear your masks. I’m waiting to board our flight.

Sorry to hear your story. Hope all ends well. I am hoping since Royal and Celebrity are allowing more passengers that this doesn't happen across many of the ships. We board Apex Saturday, we will be wearing our masks! I fear Covid is going to be around for a while😩

We are boarding Silhouette on April 8 for a B3B and definitely will be wearing masks.    I've been criticized here for my view but wear our masks all the time at home but in our community I would say 90% of the people I see are still wearing masks.

I just posted on her thread to wear masks and take precautions. It’s not the ship. It’s the preppie 😔 At an early show the CD said something about no masks and some ppl stood up whooping.  And then we never saw Tim again 😔 literally had third string CD but did get to see Bennet more 🥰

So sorry to hear about this and I hope you both get home safely. Thank you for sharing your story and advice.

Apparently the Silhouette is currently on the CDC’s list of cruise ships under investigation. I sure hope whatever is going on is corrected by the time we sail on her in June.

According to the below link there is currently 64 ships either in yellow or orange as I post this. Won’t be surprised to see mask mandates make a return and I’m not posting this to start a debate. Just what is on the CDC’s website.

To the OP, so sorry that you and your husband are having to deal with this. Hopefully he gets well quickly and you can get him home. Good luck.

We were in Vegas for a few nights last week staying at the Palazzo. The place was PACKED due to the March Madness basketball tournaments. We were one of the few that still masked up. Personally I could care less if others like it or not. It’s a choice at this time and we did not feel comfortable enough to go maskless plus it made dealing with smoke bearable.

Thank you. It’s so not a big deal to wear a mask. It’s just…politics. Ya I said it. Some of the older folks who were onboard, I’m worried about them.

I'm so sorry your cruise had a worrisome ending. I very anxiously read your first post thinking the worst had happened by the title.  I'm so glad that wasn't so.  Hopefully your husband is getting better each day and this will soon become a distant memory.  Keep well.  We wear our masks all the time when in stores and with other people.  Thank you for your advice.  All the best to you both.

We were on the Equinox for 12 days in January near the height of Omicron. We felt we did everything right with masking and distancing,  even cancelled our excursions so we wouldn’t share a small minivan. The day after we got home, I had a mild cough and throat issues. I tested PCR Positive.  My wife never did… go figure.

I never regretted taking the cruise. In fact, we had also done an Alaskan cruise and a Transatlantic on the Apex in October.  Glad we were triple Vaxxed… I’m sure that helped me a lot.

You have my empathy.

Sailed on the Constellation Jan 2022 with 7 other family members.  We all were triple vaxxed, wore masks, did Celebrity excursions,  basically stuck together due to the risks.  Felt fairly confident as 3 of us are healthcare workers that work with Covid positive patients and never had a positive test.  At disembarkation we needed PCR tests to go home to Canada, here is where the issues began.  Six out of eight tested positive at the port and therefore could not board a flight. We were all asymptomatic! Attempted numerous times to contact Celebrity Engagement through phone and email prior to leaving the port.  Finally  after 3 hours or more we waved down a Constellation employee who told us to find our own accommodations and keep receipts to submit.  We booked an Air B and B as we felt it was the best for our group of 6.  After 5 days we moved to a hotel as we still had another 5 days to isolate (10 days total for Canada).  We then were able to fly home.  During our isolation period we emailed and called Celebrity with poor response.  Finally got a nice person with Captain's Club that gave us the most information as to where to email receipts, to whose attention ect.  Receipts and detailed outline and description have been sent to Celebrity on Feb 18 with no response.  Last week I finally contacted Celebrity and was told it takes 3-45 business days for approval and then extra time for payment processing.  I am fairly certain we got Covid from our cabin steward-he was wonderful but disappeared at day 5, and we later found out nearly everyone that he was responsible for cabin cleaning  got covid.  I am ok with that-we took the risk-no blaming.  I am however very disappointed in Celebrity for their lack of guidance, follow up and customer service.  I am really hoping we do receive reimbursement for the 5 days otherwise it will turn out to be a very expensive vacation.  Has anyone else had to isolate and been reimbursed by Celebrity??  I cannot seem to find much on the boards.   thanks!

Literally on hold with Celebrity Engagement now that I'm home. Agree with everything you said. Dump him off at a hotel and that's it? See ya, wouldn't want to be ya?

If you're comfortable can you share the receipt info with me - ie, where to send? My email is vkelba@gmail.com  Thank you.

Well, that’s plain wrong!  No one has any right to criticize your decision to wear a mask!

Really doesn't bother me.    I respect others choices to either wear them or not.   All I can say is luckily it has helped me avoid Covid, The Flu, Common Colds and recently allergies for the past 2 years.   I can't remember ever not getting at least one winter cold.

Yikes!  So sorry this happened to you both!  Extremely alarming to hear Celebrity has “run out” of their normal hotel space!!  Is this with crew that are quarantining prior to starting service or are there a lot of covid cases we aren’t hearing about?

We were on this sailing. They announced one case the first night and then a few more then nothing.  We do know of one person who was taken off at the first port (day four I think). He was an older gentleman who had it and was two cabins away from us.

There were quarantining crew onboard when we boarded. Every day the captain said “a few more mild or asymptomatic cases.” Still under the 1%. Then a few days in he said “over the 1%.” And then I stopped listening bc the “ding dong” gave me anxiety 😟

I must have missed those additional announcements.  I only heard the first two although sometimes the announcements were hard to hear.

5 days, and JetBlue said we just need to call them and change his flight. But how do we know for sure he will have 2 meg tests by then? He has heard nothing from his “Celebrity shoreside concierge.”

I spent 6 days in quarantine on an 11 night sailing, DH joined me for the final 2 days.  There was no testing for negative prior to travel, just his 5 days of quarantine.  We were able to walk to get dinner and stay outside so he was never near anyone.  I had a lot of contact with Celebrity while in quarantine but none after we disembarked.

I am glad you are OK and hope your husband gets through this OK.

Can anyone comment how Celebrity *usually* treats pax with Covid because it sounds like the OP's husband's case is not typical?

I have a cruise in September and there is a good chance we are still dealing with this.  I have bought trip insurance and would probably do any reimbursements through them.  OP got the hotel on their own.  I suppose if I go through travel insurance that maybe I'll have the same chance to pick my own hotel, should the worst happen.

Sorry to hear about your situation. You say you were masked and avoided crowds but were you eating in the dining rooms and restaurants? If so were they busy as they usually are? Were servers unmasked?

I'm sorry too.  Can we help you find another hotel? Last month I was in the Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport in Dania Beach. New hotel, they had room service which was decent (drop and go in a bag).  No balconies but there was a small refrigerator. Good luck to you both.

Every single crew member was masked 100% of the time. We had 1464 on board. No dining was crowded including specialties we experienced. Martini Bar and WCB were quite busy and crowded at times. Pool deck and bar pretty crowded. Solarium and Sunset Bar areas, our favorites, weren’t too crowded.

We’ve now personally heard of 20 individuals who disembarked after testing positive. 8 of them were w my husband and taken to hotels. The rest drove home.

I did reach someone earlier who said “the care team” would be reaching out to husband. Still waiting….
