ms Nieuw Statendam in Port Everglades April 8, 2022

Nieuw Statendam is already in Port Everglades at pier 2 (port to).  She is scheduled to leave on Friday, 8 April at 8 pm.  I was reading on their roll call that some have been given a 5 pm or later embarkation time.  She is headed out on a 9-day Southern Caribbean cruise (it was originally 11 days).

 

Also in port are Celebrity Silhouette at pier 25 (6 am - 4 pm), Vision of the Seas at pier 19 (4:45 am - 4 pm), Wonder of the Seas at pier 18 (5:15 am - 5 pm), and Celebrity Infinity (without passengers???) at pier 21 (9 am - 7 pm).

Because of other regular HAL cruises operating while the Nieuw Statendam is having some repair work done on an Azipod, with no Princess ships scheduled during this time frame, makes good sense for the ship to utilize the Pier 2 berth.

She may be leaving earlier than 8:00 pm. DW and DSIL are going to be aboard. They received an email this morning requesting passengers, even with a later embarkation, to try to be aboard by 3:30 pm.

DW just text me that azipod repairs are taking longer than anticipated - so estimated departure time is now pushed back to 2-3 am.

Just heard from friends on the NS and they said something about not sailing until after midnight.  Mechanical problems.  Anybody know what is going on?

With this continued delay in sailing in when the good ship Nieuw Statendam will sail because of propulsion issues, my I suggest that guests on the lower decks check their stateroom's closets for the oars that may be needed during their cruise?  🤣

Not sure how that will work as our ship the Enchanted Princess is scheduled to arrive at terminal 2 at 6:00 am. We can see the Statendam from our hotel room right now. I would think that moving Princess to another terminal would be a major undertaking, especially trying to get notifications to all incoming passengers. Maybe they move the Statendam to another dock in the port to complete repairs. Three other ships in port tomorrow including the giant Odyssey of the Seas.

It might be a little difficult moving the Nieuw Statendam to an adjoining dock to make room for Enchanted Princess since the repair work is being done on their azipod.  Not a good time to be starting up the engines!

Now Confirmed for 7AM.  Enchanted Princess moved to terminal 21.
