Nope and nope on this!

The smoke totally spills out to the piazza, and it was especially strong in Crooners last night.  I guess that's why it's not smoky in the casino!!!

Haha.  Maybe the ventilation system is such that it blows the smoke out of the casinos into the surrounding spaces.

I hate cigarette smoke as much as the next person, but I definitely think the smoke INSIDE the casino is not bad at all, considering they allow smoking.

Does it take several days for the results?  It only took a few minutes when we were in transit.

The Antigen test is quick, 15 minutes tops for results.  My PCR test on the Emerald took about an hour for the results.

We had one of the tables outside our door when on the Majestic Princess in August.

I woke up one day with several of the symptoms they ask you to report. This was during the period they asked that no one actually go to the Medical center without an appointment. So I phoned Medical and was told to stay in our room and someone would be there shortly. A nurse came, did an assessment, checked pulse ox, throat and nose, BP,  listened to my lungs, etc. She then did a COVID test and told me and my husband to stay in our room, and the doctor would call.

About a hour later, the senior doctor called. I had tested negative but had to stay in our room for 24 hours, when I would be tested again. My husband was free to leave the cabin during that period. If I tested negative the next day, then I was too. The table appeared, our steward was not allowed to come in the cabin, and I spent a rainy Juneau day in bed. I did order one room service item which was delivered to the table, but my husband also got me a noodle bowl, which was really all that I wanted.

The next morning I was tested again, it was negative, crew in special gear came and cleaned our cabin, the table disappeared and that was the end of that story…except two weeks later I was still so sick I ended up in the hospital. But it wasn’t COVID!

Oh dear, I hope you got better soon.  It just upset me because I was told not to worry because Covid positive passengers were moved to an isolation area that has doors closed off due to the airflow. I have been trying to figure out how I picked up Covid and thought probably the casino since I spent so much time there.  Germs travel in the air, right?

I worry about the ventilation systems. It was the Diamond Princess that they discovered it traveled via air.

Exactly. I was at the ER yesterday.  I told them that I needed a breathing treatment but instead of receiving one I sat on a bench outside of the hospital by the Covid tent and they gave me a script for an  inhaler to use at home because they don’t give breathing treatments in the ER to a Covid positive patient because it travels in the air.  So if someone had just coughed, talked, sang a song, and then opened a door, couldn’t germs travel?

No, I don’t think they figured out the ventilation in the casino. I think it’s still smokey and my clothes smell when I come out of there. I was surprised the fornal night was NOT a non-smoking night….no signs and lots of smokers.

BTW: PescadoAmaillo…..got to meet “G” last night at the Captain’s Party…he’s having a good time 😄.  Unfortunately we left Ensenada late so the Captain missed his own party.

Yes good party.  Lots of people we recognize from prior cruises!

Yes...but. They don't float all alone, they need help. Germs are carried by droplets/fine particles. Hence, the cover when you cough. The size of the droplet determines how far they go. The heavier the droplet, the shorter the trip before they fall to the ground. Generally the max is about 11 feet. Saying hello from across the hall likely wouldn't do it...unless you sneeze or cough at the same time.

Did you have your mask on when you opened the door?

@MsSoCalCruiser see above.

I’d never before been on a ship where it was quite that bad.

I am left wondering why they eliminated the no-smoking nights.  PCL indoor smoking policy is terrible. I see G has been outed... lol.  Didn't seem like he was home.  Sorry you had to leave.  It's longer alone on a cruise than I would want... unless a good Bridge group.

Thank you.  Then I’m not sure I understand why they talk about having isolation areas with close the fire doors. It was just upsetting after feeling so horrible and not being able to get a breathing treatment in the ER because I was Covid positive. Instead I was out by the Covid tent and given a script for an inhaler because they don’t give breathing treatments in the ER to a Covid positive patient because it travels in the air.  That’s what I was told.  Thank you for the information that you tagged me in because that was helpful and appreciated.

There were a few times that I would forget my masks and and have to run back to the room.  After two years you would think I would remember but me being on a cruise is like a kid in a candy shop.

I wonder if the tables in the hallway are Princess's way of trying not to instill panic yet they are able to identify "covid rooms".    I think if they put a big red X on the door all the passengers would figure it out and they are just trying to minimize what's really happening.

As for the rust:   I just got off the Zuiderdam and it was rusty, inside and out.    I know the cruise companies are hurting, but "you only make one good first impression" and if they want people to cruise, they need to consider this.    We were docked next to the Disney Wonder in SD and in Cabo the ship was gleaming with new paint (or at least it looked new and there was no rust).

The Ruby pulled upside us when we were debarking in SD and it was rusty.   I was sad to see it as we have 2 cruises booked on her in the next few months.

Where on Marina deck? Forward or Aft? Sailing Sunday again... we were on the inaugural.

In the upper left hand corner of the photo it shows M601 looking aft…about 6 rooms in that area on the starboard side. I didn’t check other decks but never saw any on Emerald (8) starboard walking to/from our midship cabin.

As explained to me those tables were used for passengers who reported possible Covid symptoms to deliver food until fully testing as negative and not for quarantined passengers who were in closed areas of the ship.

Don't call it a comeback ... he was never gone ..

This is correct. He had already booked this 5 day cruise before I ever arrived on the ship. He then added the next 7 day cruise for free using the FCC he received as a result of being in isolation. He does not want to leave the ship with any remaining FCCs that will go unused. His thinking is that he doesn’t want to bring any germs home to me until I am well enough to cope with them, and he can’t catch COVID again so soon.

I never said he left the ship and had returned home.

Your post made me laugh… we are on Grand and ordered cocktails via medallion app… after a while I checked to see the progress of the order and it showed “delivered”. Not sure who got them but I sure hope they are enjoying them!

Julia .. so sad we never got a chance to meet on this cruise.  We also had a terrible embarkation but put that behind us and have had the best cruise since that time!  The food has been phenomenal.  The service has been exceptional.  Our room is our favorite on the ship and is in great shape.  Like everyone, we've had an issue here and there but, guest services has been incredible!  We never let one or two incidents hover like a dark cloud over our enjoyment.
I hope you don’t give up on Princess, even though there are some growing pains right now.  The capacity hasn’t been filled until they discontinued the mask mandate.   Plus, I’m not trying to be a Princess apologist by any means but I can’t imagine the challenges of going from 1000 passengers to over 2800 passengers without some hiccups.
I do agree that embarkation was not planned out very well, though.  I’m not sure what they were thinking when they gave Pier 27 to the Majestic, which was just there as a port of call and not for disembarkation and embarkation.  Thankfully, it wasn’t raining.  I just let it go once we were onboard and sitting down for a wonderful embarkation lunch, which they kept open late for embarking passengers.

Hopefully, you enjoy the last day of this sailing!

We were on Ruby Feb/March Panama Canal .....docked next to the Disney Wonder in Cartagenga . Wonder was having her perfect black paint touched up ,3 people out with paint rollers on sticks.

Poor Ruby was rusty and horrible black scuff marks on her side .
