Good morning and thanks for the Daily Report.

Very windy here, chance of rain this afternoon and only getting up to 7C.

Interesting days.  I tried learning ASL years ago, but did not get proficient in it.🙁  The Titanic will live on in history.  Art is wonderful.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate Easter.   Happy Pesach to those who celebrate Passover.  Happy Weekend to everyone else.

Not sure what to make of the quote.

I'll wait to see the recipe before I decide about the meal suggestion.  Hope the drink and wine are good.

Prayers for our world.

Stay safe.

Thank you for the Good Friday Daily, Rich.  A great selection of days as well as Jackie Robinson Day.  I know I've been to Chiapas but don't really remember it.    I find the quote a bit baffling.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Peach and Ginger Soup, Summer Fruit Salad with Sambuca and Fried Chicken Nuggets as served on MS Amsterdam April 15, 2014.

Today’s care list:

Strength for Jacqui
Sea Viewer DH recovering from heart attack and reluctant to take care of himself
Lady Hudson SIL in rehab after stroke
Lung cancer surgery for lazey1 BIL
Hartgrove older sister entering hospice
Durangoscots new leaky shelter roof
From the rotation:
Jen slow recovery from fall
Welfare of furloughed crews
Mr Boston’s sister with shingles
msmayor’s daughter struggling with motherhood

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Volendam housing refugees
Noordam in service April rather than May
6 BHB with guests
Marshhawk DH doctor giving him the straight truth
Lady Hudson visiting SIL
msmayor, her daughter, and her great bosses
ottahand7 DB almost ready for rehab discharge
2 days for sailingdutchy (Nieuw Statendam 4/17 to 5/8)
Heartgrove DW and DSIL (Nieuw Statendam  to 4/17) and Cruzin Terri (Nautica 4/11 to 5 /5 plus Rome stay)  at sea
Welcome home Oceansaway17
Dismomx5 on grandchild watch
Norseh2o on family  celebration
Ancient Wanderer with 2 sore arms
Koningsdan Staff Captain Sabine - Our first female Staff Captain and HAL’s likely first female Captain(I know this is a repeat but she’s worth it)

Happy Good Friday.

Thank you for today's daily and fleet reports Rich and Roy for the various lists.

We have been to several Titanic museums.

Strange  quote.

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich. The three oldest fawns are zooming around my neighbor’s and my yards this morning. Boy, they have come a long way from the wobbly leg stage.

Thank you for our lists, Roy! Morning Dailyites. Sun is just chasing away the clouds, but it is already 70 here. Mani - pedi morning for me today.

************

Arboleda Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile JS9

I used the 2018 vintage, since it might be easiest to find, but it may need to age a bit. A few online distributors with prices starting at $21.99.

Winemaker Notes

This bright, ruby-red Cabernet Sauvignon is very appealing on the nose with a complex character of fresh black and red fruits, with notes of mint and licorice, framed by clove, nuts and pastries. Pleasing aromas of cherry and plum appears as it opens. This is a wine with great balance and medium-high structure, fine-grained tannins contribute to itselegant texture, freshness and great persistence.
JS93 James Suckling
The subtle tobacco, blackcurrant and sliced-mushroom character is impressive on the nose with hints of spice and black chocolate. Medium to full body with a compressed fruit and tannin feel. Racy and structured at the finish. Grippy. Needs time to come around.

Thanks for our TGIF & Good Friday Daily, Rich.

Wonderful collection of days.  Sign language is so important for the deaf and where would we be without art?  A gentleman in Nova Scotia has just completed and in depth miniature of the Titanic to celebrate the day.

A blessed Good Friday to all our Christian CC friends;

@JAM37 I am glad to hear that your throat is better.  Hopefully a solution can be found for the allergies 🤞

@Sharon in AZ I saw your question on CCL stock and I agree with the answers - I USED to get a reply very quickly but that was B.C. (Before Covid).  I sent my request in and never got an email back.  When I called World Cruise he confirmed it had been applied, however they have a lot of new people that now require training.  He told me to take my updated confirmation & my stock statement with me “in case”.  It is taking them up to 4 weeks currently to apply the credit.  Mine took around 3 weeks based on the date he told me it was applied.

@marshhawk Glad to hear your tests were negative 👍 Very good to hear that our DH saw the wise doctor who knows him and hopefully he will be on the right track 🤞

@Heartgrove  I am so sorry to hear your sister is in hospice.  I hope she is made as comfortable as possible.

Not a good day yesterday and my tolerance for poor service is very, very low.  Went to the car dealership to get the car serviced & tires changed and had requested a loaner (DH always had one except for the very height of covid).  Girl tries to give me a line that there haven’t been any.  I was NOT in the mood and told her to talk to the boss.  So they paid for my cab to get to the hospital but I was pretty much trapped either there or at the dealership.

Meanwhile at the hospital I had changed my gloves and gown 3x as I was quite busy helping the nurses with Jose.  I won’t go into details as to why I changed 😉 But, I discovered there would be ramifications.

Called the dealership and they said they were working on it and “it wouldn’t be long” so I went back to wait and wait and wait.  Finally, the car was ready over  5 HOURS later.  I was seething and told them not to worry about storing my tires - put them in the SUV.  I’ll get the tires changed closer to home in the future.  (I made a trip to the tire place on the way home and they have my tires now). I was there on time and saw who was in the waiting room.  None of them were there when I got back so they had obviously been serviced.

To add panic to my day, while I was waiting at the dealership, my left hand felt funny.  I looked and my engagement ring was gone 😱 I checked my purse, the bag for the hospital, retraced my steps at the dealership and out of desperation called the hospital.  If the ring was in the gloves, they go in the garbage with the blue gowns and the yellow in laundry.  I was sure it was gone but had to try.  It had been found on the floor in the room next to Jose’s - probably bounced when I took off the gloves and Melanie will have it for me this morning.  Whew!

By the time I got home I had been gone for nearly 8 hours and I was starving, fuming and tired.  Jose would have tolerated it - I won’t.  My time is too valuable now and I don’t have time to waste and am tired enough without further aggravation.

OK Vent over - let’s celebrate Easter:

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone !!!!!

@kazu So glad to hear your ring was found.  A little ray of sunshine in a bad day.

Thanks both.  The ring is insured of course, but it’s not the same.  It has huge sentimental value to me and if I had lost it I would have been devastated.  I think I will take it off in the future before going to the hospital.  I’m late - better get moving and driving 😉

Good morning, everyone.

It is a bright, sunny start to the day here in northeast Ohio.  Clouds are supposed to move in later today, but we'll take what we can get.  Temps should get up to 65F.  I'll be heading to the pool in a bit - my form of physical therapy for the time being.

Today's meal is a staple in Portugal and Spain with many versions of how to prepare it.  Bacalhau is salt cod and the many preparations are all delicious.   First up:   Bacalhau à Brás is one of the most famous Portuguese dishes and is considered the ultimate comfort meal in Portugal. The dish uses many of the quintessential ingredients found in Portuguese cooking: bacalhau (salt cod), eggs, potatoes and black olives.  https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/bacalhau-bras-salt-cod-eggs-and-potatoes

Next, Portuguese salt cod stew (bacalhau or bacalhoada) is layered and baked in the oven. Made with salt cod, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, onions, olives, and lots of olive oil, it’s a satisfying recipe for cozy nights.  https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/portuguese_salt_cod_stew_bacalhoada/

972056098_bacalhau2.thumb.jpg.dbc56a8d4b812ebf110bd6a5ef13f98c.jpg

Next up is Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa:  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/salt-cod-onions-and-potatoes-bacalhau-a-gomes-de-sa-3644699

In Brazil, parties go on for hours and people don't like to sit down and have a full meal. Brazilians strike a great balance between drinking and eating, which means that people can prolong their gatherings. They like to socialise, so canapés are a great option: you get the whole party going and people just nibble. Bolinho de bacalhau, or cod fritters, are a national favourite and can be found at bars, markets and street stalls all over the country. You can find cured codfish in most delis.  https://www.sbs.com.au/food/recipes/codfish-fritters-bolinho-de-bacalhau

Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo is a traditional Portuguese dish, but even more specifically from Porto. This recipe owes its name to its creator José Valentim who was the author of the recipe and the owner of a restaurant in Porto in the 1940s.  https://tasteporto.com/recipe-bacalhau-a-ze-do-pipo-codfish-series/

1967493410_bacalhau5.jpg.2c9894df05bebb160370d987a24f4651.jpg

And, finally:  This is a very popular dish in Portugal and the Azores (an island group off the coast of Portugal). It's not very salty, instead it's a really delicious dish with a fantastic combination of potatoes, cheese, cod and a delectable cream sauce. You'll want to plan ahead though, because the salted cod needs to soak in water for about 24 hours, to remove the salt.  https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/fish/cod-with-cream-bacalhau-com-natas.html

Hopefully there is an option for just about everyone here today.  I've already picked out my favorite.  Which one is yours?

Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine and our Daily family.   Prayers of thanksgiving that @kazu Jacqui's ring was found.   Cheers for all who are celebrating.  May you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone on a very sunny Good Friday morning.  Love watching people converse in ASL. Sailed over the spot where the Titanic went down on our QM2 crossing, a very eerie feeling.  It’s nice to celebrate art today as it brings joy, something we can never have too much of.  The quote, meh.  I’ll have to wait to see what the meal suggestion is but the drink sounds tasty.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list and for a more peaceful day for @kazu.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today.  Blessings to everyone celebrating Good Friday and Passover today.

Good morning! @kazuI get tired just reading about your days! Glad you found your ring. What a sinking feeling that must have been.

We tried a new NY style pizza place last night. It was pretty good but I definitely will not order extra cheese again. There was so much cheese I was full after one slice!

Maybe a good day to Fast since it’s Good Friday and start of Sabbath.

The following picture popped up on my memory photo of the day April 14, 2019 we were enjoying sail-away from Auckland New Zealand on one of our old favorites the MS Maasdam!

Prayers for all especially the brave Ukrainian’s.

Good Morning. Thanks for the daily and the care lists.

I've had bacalhau but found it too salty for my taste.

The quote is great - it reminds me of another one : "I've always been crazy, it keeps me from going insane".

Stay safe everyone
