Is the credit for owning 100 shares still available?

I just got an alert that the CCL stock is down to $13.78 a share.  I remember when it was $59.

Yes, it is still available. Nothing has been done to negate it. It is a marketing tool, and it would be counterproductive to take it away.

Here is the way I look at it....

100 shares @13.78 = $1,378

If you cruise 2x a year for 14 days or longer that's $400 in OBC ($200 for each cruise)

That gives you a dividend yield of 29% ($400/$1,378).

One of our "better" investments for sure.....and then there is the chance for the stock to go back up, It's a no brainer.

The shareholder credit is still there. Just be aware that if you get casino offers, the shareholder credit can't be used. There are different levels of casino offers too and some do qualify for the shareholder credit. Just something to be aware of.

Since when? It's been $250 for longer cruises for a long time. Was the amount decreased recently?

Got my obc for our recent cruise on Koningsdam and have received it on other carnival brands so I take the view that its a low risk investment with reasonable returns, and the more you cruise the more the returns, that said I purchased mine as they were falling at the start of the pandemic, by the beginning of 2024 I will have made up what I paid in obc, any dividends will be a bonus👍. Just a quick mention ,first time with HAL and very, very impressed🙂

I bought my shares a long time ago, so I think I’ve recouped my initial investment,  but it’s worrisome.  A friend has been loyal to Crystal and they’ve gone bust.

Correction:  2x a year for 14 days = $500 in OBC!

That gives you a 36% dividend yield!!!!!  Incredible.

(Thanks RuthC for pointing out my error.....I should have checked before I guessed!)

I bought 300 shares each of CCL and NCLH in 2020. When they recovered to the point that I could sell 200 shares and recoup  my entire investment, I sold. Now, I'm sitting on 100 shares of each at no cost and get OBC.

I bought my shares just before our last cruise several weeks ago. I’m a sophisticated investor (former pro) and don’t much care what happens to the price. Up, great; down, it’s a long-term hold.

A tip for those looking to buy 100 shares of CCL to get the shareholder credit.  If possible, buy them in a joint account, that way if only one of you go on a cruise you can still get the credit.  Otherwise the person who is on the stock account (like an IRA, etc.) is the only one who can get it.  Limit one credit per cabin of course.

Unfortunately, the way the stock market is going, it may very well get there or even lower.

I just hope they don’t go bust like Crystal.

Not a pro, but if unless you sell, you won't have to book a loss, just like you're saying. However, the same holds true for theoretical gains. If you don't sell, there's no profit. IMHO, it's best to hold cash for the time being and DCA in the current (and probably coming) bear market.

At what price today would you buy?

I bought CCL at $21 in 2020.  My thinking right now is to DCA a few more over the coming months.

My banker warned me not to buy in April 2020 as he thought that bankruptcy was a possibility. At that time, it was $8. It has since gone to $30 and come back down to $13.5.  It could go down a little further, but I don't expect it to go below the previous low at $8 since a similar level of restrictions as back in April 2020 is highly unlikely.  IMHO the time to start DCAing CCL is in the coming weeks

I emailed last Friday and got confirmation last night that it was accepted, this is for a booking that goes out next week, in case you were wondering the time that it takes to get it processed.
