Crown and Anchor WiFi discount

Recommended Posts

We are Crown and Anchor Diamond level. I seem to remember there was a discount for WiFi at this level. Can someone enlighten me on this?  I know each of us can get one free day but we will need it throughout our cruise on the Allure in August.

You can apply the value of your one free day of Surf (approximately $25.99) towards the purchase of a package onboard.

You get the equivalent of what a single 24 hour period would cost. You should use one of the 24 hour free periods first, then use the other discount for buying the remaining days.

This as long you are OK sharing one account. If you can go without it until day 2 (since you likely have cell service until you leave port) you can save another day that way.

I have never tried using it.  Does anyone know what the cost ends up being.   I guess I have just assumed buying it before the cruise was a better deal but really haven't checked it out.

We have found that it is cheaper to buy it on sale prior to the cruise.  In the past, we have bought a single device package through the cruise planner prior to the cruise and then used the discounts on sea days, so it would give us a second device.

most times it is cheaper to buy on cruise planner (if a sale).

Let's say onboard price is $25.99 and you purchase on day 2 (you can use Sharon's free diamond for 1st day) $25.99x6=$155.94

if on sale on cruise planner for $18.99 x 7 = $132.93

$23 cheaper to buy on cruise planner.    I am basing this on surf only prices that are currently offered for my next sailing.

Now if you are casino prime member you get 30% off onboard internet.     If we purchase at onboard price of $155.94 less 30% = $109.16 it is an onboard savings of $46.78    So for us it is usually cheaper to buy onboard with our "prime" discount then buying on cruise planner.

Thanks.  I just checked what we paid for our next cruise wifi.  DW got a good deal.  We are cruising with another couple so we got the 4 device package.   It comes out to 11.75 per day per device.   She did us good.

When I look at the planner and see the price I forget that they usually offer more discounts for multiple devices after you click on it.  Might not be as good of a deal if it was just the 2 of us.

Yeah bigger discount for families with 4 devices but that is still a lot of money for wifi.

Better to buy before boarding. U know u can buy 4 package under one name and sell two other people on board. I bought the 4 package on sale and have 2 other people on our FB page that are buying 2 off me. We got it for $82 each device for surf and stream. U can share with anybody on ship. Not just family

My Dh and I each go back and forth between laptop and cell phones so I wouldn't want to share and have login issues as the other 2 people could be doing the same.

No 4 people can be on 4 devices at same time. If they buy one they can only use 1. It doesn’t matter what device u use. U can go from phone to lap top or whatever and long as you log off of the one device before u use the other one.

Yes I know that but even when hubby and I share 2 device account we have login issues where even if I logoff laptop and go to login my cell phone it sometimes kicks him off whatever device he is on.

I have done this with others on multiple cruises and have never had an issue. Actually 3 cruises just this year.

Yes, on my last cruise I could have made out much better buying ahead of time. However, I had no idea the on board price had increased so much so my calculations were off when I decided to wait and use my D+ discount on board.

Yes, even the D+ discount isn't a better deal anymore.  We are going to buy voom through our cruise planner if our cabin doesn't come with voom.  We have both gotten used to having access all the time.

I really wish they'd make the CAS discounts applicable in advance.  They're pretty useless on board.

I either give my free days to someone else that I met on board, or I use them on my last two days so I don't have to log off my phone to connect my computer.

That's because you're not properly logging off from the network.  Just turning off the wifi or turning off the device doesn't log you off from the network -- you have to actually go to onboardicafe.com/royal/logout.aspx in order completely disconnect and open up that allotted device's space on the network.

Thanks for the info. We’re going fairly new diamonds, so this is all new to us. I knew about using one free day, then using the discount on the second day, but not that it could be cheaper buying online before our cruise. We did use our two free days on a three day cruise on Indy last year which worked out great, but that wouldn’t be the case on a longer sailing.

I already have a great price on our upcoming Harmony cruise purchased last year on Black Friday. I was wondering if I should cancel that to use the Diamond discount. Not going to do that now. I was already planning to shop this year’s Black Friday sale so I’ll do that and do a price comparison before I buy. We can always use our free days on a second device.

We buy a one device package before the cruise when there is a sale on - I monitor the prices.lthen onboard we activate the one free day we each have on different days which gives us 2 devices to use for at least part of the cruise. If you time I correctly around port days when you have connection to a mobile network you can have 2 devices for the majority of a cruise (depending on thee number of ports of course.

So, being D+, I get a full day of internet as a perk.  Can that be broken up into, say, 5 minutes one day and 10 minutes another day until you hit 24 hours or is it a full 1 day 24 hour period from the minute you start?   I usually just get the Voom Surf and Stream but I don't watch videos and the prices anymore are completely out of control. $249.52 for an 8 night cruise 😳.
