doone Posted August 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) I usually like to start off with a nice, fresh salad from the Lido and then some times I like to start with a Dive In Burger.............all is so good.............decisions, decisions, decisions...................... KroozNut Posted August 23, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2022 I prefer MDR, and DW likes the Lido; so we flip a coin. 🙂
Cruising-along Posted August 23, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2022 We head to the Lido, we love the hustle and bustle and excitement of the first day. But most of all I can't wait to get my first big Lido salad from the salad bar.

Is that true? Also, is it possible that HAL would assign you a boarding time that is too late to make it for lunch?

We eat a light lunch in the lido anticipating a delightful and full dinner in the dining room.
birdie16 Posted August 23, 2022 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2022 I usually try to eat low calorie and healthy. Then...reality hits and I realize I'm on a cruise! So, my first meal is a boring salad in the Lido...my last diet food of the cruise.

dns20 Posted August 23, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Looks like there is a consensus - Lido salad bar! Same here. Looking forward to our favorite dish for lunch: Asian salad with lots of seared ahi
Rare ACorgan Posted August 23, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 23, 2022 I thought I remembered someone raving about the peanut butter pie at the Lido on embarkation day? I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my list to look for on my next cruise

AKJonesy Posted August 23, 2022 #16 Share Posted August 23, 2022 I like to go and see what they are having in the Lido, and if it doesn't appeal then I grab a salad then look forward to dinner. It usually takes me a few days to make it to the Dive In. I don't go to MDR much but will join my husband at least on the first day and for gala. He goes to MDR every night with exception when we go to specialty dining.

rkacruiser Posted August 23, 2022 #20 Share Posted August 23, 2022 If the MDR is open, lunch there on embarkation day is where I prefer. Otherwise, depending on the ship, lunch at the New York Deli and Pizza or a Lido Lunch would be my preferences.

kdakda Posted August 24, 2022 #22 Share Posted August 24, 2022 The Lido, if cruising with friends, but probably Dive-In if just the two of us (or a little of both 😇)
iflyrc5 Posted August 24, 2022 #23 Share Posted August 24, 2022 We like the MDR - much less crowded than the Lido. Quiet and calm and a great way to start the cruise.
