Are you sure it isn't being held by a stowaway? Or a mannequin? I really doubt Princess management would allow an on duty crew member looking like that to represent the cruise line. The son had to be 18+ years to buy the ticket and get in the casino. It’s completely irrelevant if this is him in the photo or not. The point is the son is not a young child, but a teenager. I don’t know why you have issues with that.

I don’t know who is in photo holding check, but check has the OP S son’s name on it! Too many crew/ staff/ employees are making mistakes and those of us who are paying for a vacation are having to put up with their carelessness and misinformation. ( think all the complaints we see on here about phone agents). Princess should have been more thorough before/ during the phone call. In my opinion- Princess has been a jerk to these people. This was Princess prizes - activated if you purchase the premiere package or at $20 per day without the package. You do it on the stateroom door. Still, anyone under 18 should NOT have been allowed to activate it...

This could have been the beginning of "the big mistake" in that he was accidentally sold a ticket when he was underage. As far as "entering" the casino...I have never seen any casino staff member turn anybody away who *might* have been underage. And...we really don't know what this person's age is. We're having a lot of "fun" with this one making some unsubstantiated assumptions. There are a LOT of inconsistencies with what was represented.... Just curious. Perhaps he is the actual winner, posing with the check. IIRC, the rules say you need to be present to win. So no winner on that cruise. I've no idea who that kid is, but I'll eat my hat if he's an on duty crew member. There is no way he'd be allowed on duty looking that disheveled and without a name tag. Methinks OP has a bad case of "sore loser". She'd be happy to take a prize to which she knew she wasn't entitled, but will shift blame to the ship Whelen the mistake was found out in time. The issue here is the child's crushing disappointment. No, the issue is that the kid knew he was not eligible and that he had withdrawn. He was hoping to scam the system by not telling them he was not an entrant. The mother is at fault also for not telling them that he was not an entrant. They were the ones who did wrong. 2

The OP said he withdrew it once he found out it costs money.

MustangGT Posted January 10, 2023 #92 Share Posted January 10, 2023 To the OP - if you wanted to grab everyone’s attention, your title certainly did that. I was almost afraid to open the thread because I was sure something truly tragic had happened. I’m happy to know that your family is alive and well. 2
Rare Colorado Coasty Posted January 10, 2023 #93 Share Posted January 10, 2023 It really doesn't matter who the kid in the picture is or how old he is, and maybe Princess didn't handle the situation as they should have, but the OP, and those defending her, need a reality check. 1
Rare Colorado Coasty Posted January 10, 2023 #94 Share Posted January 10, 2023 On our last cruise the bar ran out of my favorite single malt. They offered me a free drink but that just made matters worse. Now that is truly HEARTBREAKING and devastating.

So they had no responsibility to mention to the caller that his entry had been canceled and his money refunded. They seemed happy to accept a prize that would have only been awarded by mistake. Then upset because the mistake was found prior to the actual award.

JAT0303 Posted January 10, 2023 #97 Share Posted January 10, 2023 I have to say that after coming back to Cruise Critic after several years, I am saddened by the mean spirited and rude responses that are being given to many people in this forum. Regardless of how people feel about a post, it seems that responses can be worded more politely. Or perhaps no response at all would be best. Being anonymous seems to give people a sense that they can say whatever they like which is really a shame. Thanks for listening. 3

roobug Posted January 10, 2023 #99 Share Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) From looking at his Facebook page - the young man in the picture is her son (she made a similar post on Facebook). Her son is at least 18 years old according to his Facebook so this has nothing to do with a child but a young man who thought he would win something that he withdrew from.
