Mike45LC Posted March 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2023 Not in a hard copy in the cabin, but I THINK you can access a port destination guide on the App once you are on board. But not prior to boarding, so worthless for planning. I suspect that "cotton wool" might be cotton balls, not Q-Tips. Either way, not generally provided. paradiselivin1 Posted March 15, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2023 You no longer get your own body lotion to use/keep but they do have some in the cabins that get refilled when low. Bathrobes always available on request with no problem.
Vic The Parrot Posted March 15, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2023 No pen and stationary? No more chocolate? Is this still supply chain issues, or has Princess upper management been outsourced to Motel 6? 😵🤪
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted March 15, 2023 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2023 Oops....When OP mentioned stationary, I thought they were asking about the personalized printed stationery that was in suites. Reading it again (reading comprehension issue by this OP), I see they are referring to the notepad. I received them on the Grand within the past few months. Sometimes you need to ask your steward. They can "find" things that have been eliminated.
Mike45LC Posted March 15, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 15, 2023 I have had no pens or paper in the past four cruises, in balcony, mini-suite and Club Class. But I did not ask my steward, having come prepared with plenty of pens and legal pads. And pillow chocolates!
Redwing55 Posted March 15, 2023 #10 Share Posted March 15, 2023 I'm not complaining, but I thought they use to offer a fruit basket in most cabins. There would be a card in it and one would check what fruit they would like to see in it. Neither of the 2 cruises we've taken since July '22 had this.

We had a fruit basket in our mini-suite in Jan 2023, but I think it was a gift from the casino. I kept asking the steward to take it away, confident that it would go to waste. The steward didn’t take it away for days.

Pens and notepads in the cabin were eliminated due to Covid precautions. You can ask your cabin steward and/or the passenger services desk for both. Chocolates were also eliminated due to Covid precautions, but I think they are now gone to save Princess $$$.

I didn't see any writing paper though so I used toilet paper to leave his notes. 😁 Plenty of cholates available at the buffet. Just ask for a cup full. People used to get lotion in an individual plastic container and now you get it in a refillable dispenser. People still get it, so what's the big deal? As far as I can tell, the issue seems to be that the former could be taken off the ship at the end of the cruise while the latter can not. Is it that important to people to depart with small bottles of lotion? If it is, then go to any retail pharmacy and buy empty travel size containers and fill 'em up on your last day! But no one ever does that because the idea of walking off the ship with an ounce and a half of lotion just isn't that important. And if it isn't important enough to load up one's own empty container, is it worth moaning about the loss of environmentally disastrous mini bottles of personal products?

And if it isn't important enough to load up one's own empty container, is it worth moaning about the loss of environmentally disastrous mini bottles of personal products? I will admit that I am a germaphobe. When refillable bottles first came on the market, I asked the vendor how sanitary this would be. I was attending a Tourism/Hotel/Hospitality fair. We had a very long discussion about the benefits of refillable bottles (and environmental uses). But representative did admit that this was not the healthiest and safest method for all. There was no way to control someone removing the spout and contaminating to fluid. There was no way to assure that the contents were "fresh" since bottles would be refilled from the top over left over/old products. Sure....the pump takes from the bottom. There were many other reasons that were discussed that convinced me that refillable bottles are not for me. So I just bring my own. I'm not in the mindset of removing the small bottles to take because "I paid for them". My reasons for small bottles were strictly for personal hygiene.

Unless the small bottles that are placed in the cabins have a seal on them, there is nothing preventing them from being refilled or tampered with. Does anyone think that if a guest departs and leaves a bottle 9/10ths full of content that the steward or housekeeper in a hotel tosses it in the trash and places a new bottle in the room? It could happen, but then again, it might not.

OK I heard / read some place someone brought empty bottles with them for the purpose of filling them up with the soap/conditioner/hand cream that was left over when they left the cruise. And there was a big discussion as to weather it was right or wrong for them to do that.
