I booked a cruise on Royal, should I have asked for a military discount?

And me. Did you request the military/veteran discount for Bucky when you booked your Celebrity Constellation cruise?

I booked the Connie online.  Just now checked my paperwork...and yes indeed, I must have punched in military.  Received 200 bucks off the cruise.  🙂 Thanks!

I dunno guys, WHEN I have gotten it, it has always been an additional amount on top of whatever discount I already have.

We as well.  Has been anywhere between 600 and 1200 off the price, along with whatever other discounts apply.    I punch in military, senior and Fl resident.....then hope for the best.

The discount if applicable to your sailing results in a less than minimal savings... more than likely about 50 bucks, lol...probably not worth fretting over....play in the casino...that is where your real savings can occur once you become prime.

I spent over 20 years on active duty in the USAF   and I am currently Diamond Plus (I only mentioned the loyalty level to help emphasize how often I cruise on RCI). I have yet to see a military rate that was lower than the current rate available to anyone on any cruise I have booked. As others have stated the military rate is usually only offered on cruises that still have a lot of cabins available. For whatever reason I have never been able to take advantage of a military rate on RCI. Just a side note, but I have gotten a military discount on every Celebrity cruise I have sailed on.

Same with Princess.

I submitted my DD214...just once...$100 OBC automatically given...$250 OBC for 14 days or more.

See previous post.

ok...one of your above post was about Celebrity...and the OP is talking Royal Caribbean. Another of your posts indicates you put in various other discount options at the same time so you really don't even know for sure what discount was specific to military. I personally put in Military every booking and similar to Phillyfan...it was not a discount which was better than any other offer to a non-military. Simply window dressing. I like what Princess does...gives you $100.00 OBC regardless of what deal you were able to snag. Now that is a real, measurable military discount.

I've always had 10% discount - UK Military Veteran, been on 3 cruises, Carribbean, Bahamas and Greek never had an issue and was necer told only specific cruises. We call it Blue Light Discount and is for all services active and vets

I have a couple of input items to this.

  • I've upgraded a booking or two that included military discounts but when I did upgrade, the discount went away.  So, it is my belief that it is not only select sailings, it also has select categories.  I think it could be more like Dynamic pricing than select anything.  I guess one could argue that Dynamic pricing and "select" anything is the same.
  • If I'm not mistaken, the military status is in your C&A account if you have at some time put it into the C&A profile and automatically applied to subsequent bookings.  I hope so anyway as I don't even mention it anymore.

Military status doesn't appear to be anywhere in the C&A profile.

I didn't take the time to actually look up the C&A information.  I didn't think there was a possibility of having to discuss/debate this further.  However, I can tell you that somewhere in the system they know that you are a vet as I have had it applied automatically/without being asked.  It could be in the C&A or in your RCCL system somehow/where.

The military discount (same as residency, law enforcement, etc) is completely separate and has nothing to do with C&A and needs to be entered with every booking - even if C&A has been applied.

Need to find out how it was automatically added then.

I booked a cruise last week for spring 2024. My husband is a veteran and we get military discounts on Norwegian and Celebrity. I didn't think to check with Royal Caribbean. Do they offer military discounts and if so, how do I get it applied?

Hit and miss, many times it's only offered closer to sailing. Booking my Cruises 18-24 months out of 6-8 Cruises a yr I might get Military Disc 1/3 the time. During startup was offered lot more. Had some Cruises where it got me $600-1100 off, then with C&A Disc's it really added up on a couple cruises. Most time only a few hundred but I'll take it.

Okay, I went a pulled my cruise file and find that at least one of the cruises I went on and had a military discount applied and was booked through our usual TA.  Maybe it is the TA that has it in their loyal customer file/system or just remembers folks <(but I doubt that) and they apply it to the booking automatically.

Military discount has always been a separate line item on my invoice and I consider $600 ON TOP of the advertised sale offered to the general public significant.

Princess doesn't give a military/veteran discount. Princess gives a military/veteran OBC. The amount ranges from $50 to $250 depending on the length of the cruise.

As a TA I can tell you thst even though I enter clients C&A numbers if I don't check the box for military or what state they live in the won't get those discounts if they are available.
