Coastal kitchen, Access

Yeah, they are always doing that with us as well.  Happened a lot of Harmony, and they also dogged us right away on Wonder this last time to change out the cards.

But they still charged our drinks to the vouchers.  Ughh...but as long as it did not go over six and we were not charged in actuality...I let it go.

So are you saying I will have to make sure when I'm ordering drinks in the lounge that they are not using my diamond + benefit since I am in an owners suite?

Guess I’ll have to show this to the Loyalty ambassador later. Currently on the mariner.

When I when I told her I had seen that junior suite would have priority over pinnacles she shook her head and said that’s not accurate.  That that was something she had never seen in the past or had heard was coming in the future.

So I’ll show her your comment later on up in the lounge and ask her to follow up with Miami.  Thanks!

If you are on Mariner, then there isn't a Coastal Kitchen, which is where JS are allowed to have dinner.  They do not have full access to the suite lounge/happy hour.  Just dinner, if space allows in Coastal Kitchen.  So it only applies to Oasis and Quantum class ships because they have Coastal Kitchen. Jr. Suites on other ships cannot go in the suite lounge.

Currently on SY. Coming Sunday starts the TA. Pins excluded from CK, lounge and suite/Pin sun deck. 30 highest Pins are allowed access to CK to include their possible non status companions in same cabin. Breakfast for Pins in Chops. No more 3 dinner/CK. Also it is confirmed that from the Pin count, Pins in suites are not subtracted, all casino masters have full access to CK and lounge as do the Junior suites. So all in all the priority is as follows:

1. suite guests unrestricted

2. Masters with no C&A status unrestricted

3. Junior suites unrestricted

4. Pins when below the threshold of approximately 100, restricted. Substituition for Pins: Dazzles lounge

My prediction is that “regular” junior suite access will eventually be eliminated and only the new Sky junior suites will have CK access.

My understanding is that the Sky Junior Suite is to be offered on the Icon starting January.  Since it will be in the Suite neighborhood, I would expect it to have priority over Pinnacles.

this thread is wondering why current Junior Suite guests would have priority over Pinnacles? 😂

I would simply monitor your vouchers daily to be sure.  Or indeed have your card changed.

It did not make a difference if we still had the Gold card or they replaced it with Suites colored card when they tallied the charges.

Wow. I totally disagree.  I have enjoyed the CK for my entire 15N cruise, but I also feel that Pinnacles have every right to be there.  We have eaten there several nights on the Anthem and there are always plenty of empty tables and we have 109 Pinns onboard.  Pinnacles have been cruising for several years and spent a lot of money with Royal, they all deserve a plate at the table.

My view is not as “tough” as Birdtravels, but having 109 Pinnacles able to dine in the CK does make it hectic for the dining staff/kitchen and will affect guests in suites.

You have empty tables but it would not be the same if all Pinnacles were able to join you. It is unfortunate for the Pinnacles had changes to the perks, but everyone knows that loyalty perks are subject to change and they have.  The success of the Crown and Anchor program has brought these changes. Royal is working on a balance to give suite guests their paid for amenities and a respectful medium to their most loyal guests.

True. On  our first leg on Mariner, we had suite colored (silver) cards and on the second leg we had Pin colored (gold) cards. Made no difference - the waiter in the suite lounge wanted to take our cards with him to the VC bar so they could be swiped. We only ended up with one $0 line item on our account from that bar. Probably because we never gave him our cards - just our suite number.

As a D+ member with the drink package we had one bartender use our D+ free drinks.  We just scratched our heads, and said nothing to him.  Sometimes decisions made just aren’t worth questioning.

The last time we were on Wonder, sitting at the bar in the SL waiting to be seated for dinner in CK, a couple that just came in made us move so they could sit together.  We simple left and took a seat in the lounge area.  Never uttered a complaint.

Our waiter came over later and apologized...though it was not his fault.  He told us the couple were in a JS cabin and were Diamonds.  And really had no business at the bar in the first place.  Dinner yes, SL no.

We were in a GS and are Pinnacle.

Yup, as long as the total charges dollar wise to us is zero...I am fine.

If $$ charges were to come up in the SL during happy hour (if we were to go over our six per person, which had never happened).....then...I would take issue.  😉

That is correct. Here on SY they speak effective Jan24, the JS cabins will be separated into regular JS and so called SkyJS (a quick price check shows a difference between reg JS and Sky JS of 2000$) That means regular JS have no whatsoever access to CK anymore , only the pricey SkyJSs

If you are on a Oasis class ship and ordering cocktails outside 5-8 it will be deducted from your D+ count.

Indeed...and is very nice if you have vouchers, deciding to make happy hour...any hour.  😉

Though what I was pointing out (referencing to myself), were the vouchers they put through on our account....during that dedicated happy hour time in the SL, though should not be that way being full suite guests.

  But...eh..free is free.

to tell the truth, I didn't know or know how to check (unless they tell you) if we got deducted from our D vouchers or not during happy hour in the SL

You are right, I did some checking,  There is quite a difference in pricing  between junior suites, and the sky junior suites. I imagine it will cause a lot of confusion, unless they change the name of the “old“ (not sky) Junior suites.

it will make it very difficult for staff to monitor any changes, that is, if there are changes at all.

It has always come up on the interactive TV under "account" for us.

The app usually shows it under the account link ($0 line item) as soon as it's rung up.

Not all ships have the account info. on the TV, but you can always access it on your Royal app.  Sometimes it is delayed, but it shows up eventually.

Pinnacles don't deserve anything. Suite guests have paid for access to CK. And, obviously, Royal has come to the same conclusion (e.g., Pins don't deserve access nor are entitled to access) and are limiting Pins to avoid crowding those who have paid for access.
