Tatra603 Posted April 14 #4651 Share Posted April 14 Can anyone onboard tell me whether RC have said anything about a visa for Madagascar? Are they being sorted by RC or do we have to apply ourselves online?
ThirdGenCruiser Posted April 15 #4652 Share Posted April 15 @Tatra603 This video from on onboard town hall meeting discussed Visas (5:27 to 7:29): TL;DR: the ship will organise visas for Ghana, and for other countries it is case by case where guests should reach out to Royal Caribbean to discuss individually. 2

LadyZolt Posted April 15 #4654 Share Posted April 15 We were in Shimizu, Japan, today and could see Mount Fuji from the ship. We took an excursion and saw Mt. Fuji from a lake area, and two waterfalls, and a Shinto shrine, and also the Mount Fuji World Heritage Center. It was a beautiful day with Cherry Blossoms still in bloom! Here are some photos... 58

Your pictures are just amazing. I doubt I will ever get to that part of the world and you bring it to life with your pictures. Everything is so clean. What a trip you must be having. LadyZolt Posted April 16 #4658 Share Posted April 16 We're in Osaka, Japan, today. The ship docked right beside the Tempozan Ferris wheel, which says it's the largest in Japan. We rode that and then also took the subway to the station where we could get on a bullet train and then took the bullet train to Kyoto. My husband had his phone out showing the speed in miles per hour and I got a photo when it was 175 mph. I think the top speed I noticed was 185 mph. It was fun! We'd never ridden the bullet train before, so we figured we'd do that while we were in Japan. This is the ship's last stop in Japan. Here are some photos I took today..... 46

newxmascruiser Posted April 16 #4661 Share Posted April 16 Wow great photos. Have loved following this thread from the start. Shame it got derailed for a bit, but fully back on track with fantastic photos to boot. Im so intrigued by this experience for those on board and can only imagine being able to take enough time out for this trip. Safe travels to you all and looking forward to whoever shares more of the rest 8

I expect it to still be cold. The world cruise received a warm welcome from Japan in some of the videos I’ve seen.
LadyZolt Posted April 21 #4663 Share Posted April 21 We're in Nha Trang, Vietnam, today after four sea days. My husband and I took the Vinpearl cable cars over to the amusement park and rode the Ferris wheel and enjoyed the park. It was hot out -- in the 90's -- and there were hardly any other people around even though all the stores and things were open. We had a nice afternoon! 32

LadyZolt Posted April 22 #4670 Share Posted April 22 Today we took an excursion into Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City. We saw the post office; the Notre Dame cathedral that is not open and still under construction (our guide said that they're actually using building supplies from France, so that's why it's been 7 years and still not done); walked by the war museum and saw an H1 "Huey" helicopter; and we went up to the Skydeck in the Bitexco Financial Tower and saw some great views from there. It was another very hot day, though! We definitely appreciated the air conditioning today!
newcruiser2310 Posted April 22 #4671 Share Posted April 22 1 minute ago, LadyZolt said: If you're boarding in Singapore, then you're not transiting from any of the Sri Lankan airports. You're arriving and departing by the cruise ship. Yes I understand that. In the email they asked us to apply for 2 day transit visa though, and there is no other option for seaports. I am assuming (maybe wrongly) that airports is the default message but includes seaports. And regardless, there is no other way to apply for 2 day transit visa. I am also a Singapore passport holder and it is 1 of 4 countries (Singapore, Seychelles, Maldives, Czech Republic) that has visa waiver. So even if I want to apply for tourist visa the system also does not allow me. I wonder who has successfully apply for 2 day transit visa, or any of the 4 countries' passport holders has applied for tourist visa. Or if RC will even let us board the ship in 30 hours. suzyluvs2cruise Posted April 22 #4672 Share Posted April 22 @LadyZolt thanks for taking us along on your adventure. I've enjoyed all your pictures. We did Ovation in April 2018 and were to have had a stop at Phu My for Saigon. Much to our disappointment....and everyone else on the ship....the Captain told us we could stop due to "port congestion". That was a 1st for us and we've been cruising since 1987. Happy that didn't happen with Serenade.
CSHS1979 Posted April 22 #4673 Share Posted April 22 John is on his way back to the ship. Getting back on in Singapore. I believe he's now in Qatar with a 6 hour layover. He got to fly in or out of the top 3 airports in the world. Hard to believe not one US airport made this list It was nice he could come home for a couple weeks.

Are you boarding in Singapore with him? Edited April 22 by Jimbo

He had Sri Lanka worked out before he left. Latest hurdle was a Singapore arrival card. Filled it out before he boarded his flight from JFK
