WoodstockGirl Posted December 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2023 My husband needs an extension cord to use his CPAP machine. I see we are not permitted to bring our own from home. Can we count on getting one by asking our steward on day of sailing? How would we go about requesting one ahead of time? Thank You.
MeHeartCruising Posted December 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) You can request the cord and distilled water using this form. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/resources/guest-special-needs However, if the supplies are not in your cabin upon arrival, ask your steward to get them for you. I’ve never had a problem getting them. But more times than not, for me, I’ve had to ask for them upon arrival, even after filling out the form. The cord will likely be a big heavy orange cord like you use in your garage. You might want to bring duct tape to tape it to the floor since it likely will have to run from an outlet on the desk. Rare craig01020 Posted December 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) I always bring my own cord and it's never been taken away. As far as running the cord to an outlet, I recently started using magnetic clips along the wall and ceiling. They have worked very well. https://a.co/d/5aRyNQZ Edited December 3, 2023 by craig01020

If you don't want to pack the duct tape, your cabin steward will tape it down. Ours have always done it without being asked, during a room clean

Husky1987 Posted December 3, 2023 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2023 I've asked pre-cruise every time and never had one show up. I've asked my cabin steward first day every time and always had one within a few hours.
HicksRA Posted December 3, 2023 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) Just buy one of these. It replaces the shorter plug in cord on the Cpap power supply and becomes part of the machine. This is what I use. It’s also a lot easier to deal with than that heavy cord they provide. Edited December 3, 2023 by HicksRA
BND Posted December 3, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2023 DH requested it ahead of time using the special needs link. Cord and distilled water were in our cabin when we boarded Jewel last month. Second leg of our b2b, we asked our steward and she made sure we had the water. They are more than prepared for CPAPs.
Rare Tree_skier Posted December 3, 2023 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2023 I’ve gotten it about 50% of the time. When it hadn’t been there the cabin steward gets it by dinner time.

Thanks, will mention this to my Son in Law for his CPAP, he's Hooked and starting Cruise as much as me. This will be handy
Rare VernRDH Posted December 3, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 3, 2023 DH just got a 12 foot cord for his CPAP. No need to get the heavy duty extension cord. He just plugs it in at night and wraps the cord up during the day if he has to plug it in at the desk.
Rare BecciBoo Posted December 3, 2023 #12 Share Posted December 3, 2023 Our steward happily got us one for my electric wheelchair. It's good because then you are assured it's legit with the ship.
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 3, 2023 #13 Share Posted December 3, 2023 Never had a problem with regular cord from CPAP and plug in by bed. Carry a 12 footer but only had to use in in some hotel rooms.
Rare brillohead Posted December 4, 2023 #14 Share Posted December 4, 2023 If bringing your own cord from home, just wrap it up with the regular power cord in the CPAP case and they won't even notice it in the X-ray process. That's what I do with my extension for my laptop, and I have never once had it questioned (and I've been on 26 cruises since COVID).
