Ken at the beach Posted March 23 #1 Share Posted March 23 At least in the Comedy Club and Quest Not sure when this started but on our cruise last week on Odyssey they were carding kids at the doors and security was going around removing kids who had made it in prior to the event starting. It is unlike before where they could be there with their parent, now it does not matter, if they are not 18 they are forced to leave regardless of whether their parents are standing beside them or not. I heard the same thing from a friend with a 17 YO on Icon last week. I am suspect that there started to be too many entitled parents who decided that their 12 yo was mature enough to go so they just made it black or white with no option for parental consent. 54
DaniDanielle Posted March 23 #2 Share Posted March 23 It’s about time they enforced it. We went to a Quest where the cruise director stood right in front of a kid and parents and told them no children allowed. They never moved and were sitting in front. 17
leaveitallbehind Posted March 23 #3 Share Posted March 23 (edited) Now if they would consistently show the same level of enforcement in the Solarium and related pool and hot tubs...... Edited March 23 by leaveitallbehind 54

rockmom Posted March 23 #8 Share Posted March 23 Makes sense for the comedy shows for sure since those things sell out and have long standby lines. No need for a kid to take up a spot.

Cherful59 Posted March 24 #15 Share Posted March 24 We had a mother with their maybe 9 or 10 year old daughter near us and even after the announcement that it would not be appropriate for kids she did not leave. After a bit when the bra's and such started to come off and out, she grabbed her kid and took off like a pelican. I guess she had never been to a quest before and did not believe what was said and thought she new better than those running it. 4

I have done that. But it is not the most comfortable thing to do when the families with their young children are sitting next to you in the Solarium hot tub and ignore your comments regarding the rules. Nor should the passengers ever be put into the position to feel they have to resolve this themselves by notifying staff of the issue. The stated rules should just be enforced - plain and simple. And historically RCCL doesn't typically do that - unless someone complains. And so it goes.... Edited March 24 by leaveitallbehind

Wow, you witnessed this on one ship and heard about it on another ship and now think it is RCI policy fleet wide? I just got off Freedom a few days ago and this definitely wasn’t the case for Quest. It was also not the case in the comedy club on Symphony last week (I didn’t attend Quest on that cruise so can’t address that event).

The bras quest usually sends the helicopter parents flying, out of Studio B. 1

Kids running in packs- pushing etc. The parents perhaps are enjoying themselves in the Casino or doing other things allowing the kids to behave like wild wolves. I have children and grandchildren, and wouldn't allow them to run around the ship unsupervised. Some looked 7-8 years old. They should be at supervised activities or with a parent or guardian. lovesthebeach2 Posted March 24 #22 Share Posted March 24 (edited) I hope they continue to enforce it, especially in the comedy club as some of the language isn’t meant for young children. Edited March 24 by lovesthebeach2

And parents that don’t supervise their children to show them consideration of others are not teaching them valuable lessons in life.
leaveitallbehind Posted March 24 #24 Share Posted March 24 (edited) And as long as we are on the subject of rules enforcement, I will add one more. On our Oasis NYE cruise this year we experienced people vaping in the Royal Promenade, the elevator bank lobby on our stateroom deck, and two separate groups in the Solarium. When another passenger in the Solarium mentioned this to a crewmember, a staff member eventually came and discussed it with one of the individuals who then left the area. What the one who complained was told was that it is difficult to enforce unless a staff member actually witness it. The other passenger indicated that there were bartenders and other staff wondering past these individuals in the Solarium while it was occurring but only responded when someone complained. Sad.
