Thanks David🙂 I sailed Summit many times.

I just wonder why the public spaces have to be so darn cold!!!(maybe it is just me).

Hi Lois,

I am usually very warm in the public areas on Celebrity ships.  However, I sailed Eclipse in May and can tell you I was very cold in most of the public areas.  So for someone like me who is usually warm to say it was very cold it must have been freezing!  Glad to hear that you would consider Celebrity again.

Sitting at the Newark Airport. It was overall a good week and David, I think I would sail Celebrity again but would do an M class ship and hopefully find a suite.

I am really tired ( didn't sleep well last night) and the Temps around the ship varied so much I seem to have caught a cough, which is a big PITA........

Anyway, if you have any further comments and/or questions, let me know.

Lois, thanks for taking time from your cruise to post.

I’m glad you had an enjoyable cruise.  We will be on the Eclipse in October, after many E class ships, which we love, so your MDR comment is encouraging.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on your cruise.  We will be on the Eclipse later this summer for the first time.  We just sailed the Ascent in May, and had a great time.  Beautiful ship.  We actually are looking forward to the Michaels Club.......actually prefer it over the impersonal Retreat Lounge.

Hi, I only ate in the main dining room once the entire cruise.

Lois, perhaps a cruise on the Connie will tempt you!

I hope you are home safe and sound, and you have a nice supply of cough drops.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

I was given a ticket for a free drink so went to the bar for a glass of wine. I met some very nice folks who are also on the cruise.

I always thought Embassy Suites had appetizers but in this case it was just nuts. Oh well.

The room is nice size with a big walk in shower.

They did give me another ticket for complimentary breakfast in the morning as well.

I am on the 10am shuttle to the ship. Will let you know how things go.🙂

looking forward to your review.....we leave for Bermuda on June 16th. 1st time on the Eclipse.  Love to hear about the shows? food? casino?  have a great time

Oh, something I did notice and I don't remember if it used to be this way but when I walk down the hallway to the elevator (I am all the way aft so it is along walk. ) But anyway, I notice TONS of silver containers on the floor with covers on them. I am guessing these are room service items and folks don't leave them in their cabin......and lots of of door signs too. Just observations on my part but why put that food container on the floor outside? Is this a thing now?

nasty...& serves no purpose...keep that stuff in your room for the attendant to take away

I only went to 2 shows. One was a rock show and the other was a guy who played Chello and Piano. I think I posted about this earlier in the thread. He was excellent.

I never went into the casino.

I ate my meals in Lumanie every night but one. I did not not always order from the Luminae menu though as you can also choose from the mdr menu. Food was pretty good.

This thread is a live from and I am not doing an additional review.. You might want re-start reading on page 1 and then you can see what I had previously posted.

Hope you feel better soon and thank you for taking the time from your 'quiet' vacation to do a live review.  As we'll sail on her in Nov. (first since 2017) and there have been somewhat negative comments as to her 'shape'...LOL....it's nice to hear she's still in pretty good condition for her age.

We were on this itinerary to Bermuda with Lois R.

For those recently sailing E class or refurbed X ships, you will certainly see the age (and wear) of this ship.  If you can get past that, all will be well.  Our room steward (we were in a Sunset Veranda) was outstanding.  Always nearby and we had fresh ice twice per day and we did the 'Go Green' (or whatever it's called) but if we put used towels etc on the shower floor they were always refreshed.  Food in the MDR was adequate.  OVC was also.  We had one dinner in Murano, Tuscan and then lunch at Sushi on Five.  We enjoy all those venues.  The carving station was probably the most disappoining in the OVC.  We tended to head to the Solarium on sea days as the air temps at the pool were quite chilly 🙂
Our routine for dinner is a stop at the Martini Bar (best bar at Sea) then to our dinner venue (most dinners we had about 8P).  The prime rib on day 1 in MDR was not great - maybe our own fault for ordering it rare.  Breakfast we had in OVC and MDR and can't complain about anything.  I tend to stay away from Omelets as (I think) they are made with powdered eggs so I stayed with boiled or fried eggs which were just fine.
We did a snorkel excursion and Harbor nights on Day 1 in Bermuda.
Snorkel was 'just ok' (not great)
Harbor Nights is a must do One and Done.
We also did the mini golf at the dockyard - Must Do.
Day 2 and 3 we rented an E-Car and drove the island for two days.
We did many stops including , St George, Tobacco Bay, Swizzle Inn, Blue Hole, Crystal Caves, Lost in the Triangle (bar), several beaches including Elbow, Warwick, and Horseshoe.
Expect to pay $20 per chair and $20 per umbrella and $17 per drink at Horseshoe Bay.
Chic Nights were Day 3 and Day 6.  Few were 'dressed up'.  Some didn't get the idea at all.
The demographic of this cruise was unlike any of our previous X cruises.  This was a much younger and more New York crowd (understandable given it was Port Liberty NJ).  The Casino was hopping (much more than I remember on previous FLL and MIA cruises).
I missed not having Lawn Club Grill on this S class ship.  We did skip the glass blowing as that was a one and done for us.  Our dinner the night before our cruise was at Hudson and Company in Jersey City.  Great View of Manhattan from the restaurant.  It was a little hazy for our sail away but got a great look at the Statue of Liberty!

Harbor Nights is a street fair with craft, food, and other product vendors under tents.  Many of the stores along Front St remain open for shopping.  Live band, dancing, and Gombay dancers are entertaining.  Try the local fish and donuts. Here is a link that does a better job of describing this .... https://www.gotobermuda.com/inspiration/article/bermudas-summer-street-festival-harbour-nights

Hello Lois,

Welcome back to Celebrity!  We enjoy the ships, our favorite Celebrity ships are now the E-class ships- but always enjoy the silhouette and reflection our favorite S class ships.

We also have been doing many Royal Caribbean cruises and love the oasis class ship.

Yes, Moniek was an assistant on Summit a few years back.  She's leaving Eclipse some time in June (I cannot for the life of me remember the date but I know she will not be onboard when I sail again on July 7).  Moniek deserved the promotion......she's a very hard worker and excellent at her job.  Enjoy your sailing.

@jcpc @philpcruiser Moniek will be back on Eclipse in September. I've already booked fall and spring sailings to sail with her again...she is the BEST!

We were on Eclipse last week too and found the following:

1. Murano and Sushi on Five very good.  Tuscan was okay.  Think Murano and Tuscan need to update their menu - I guess I feel that way as have been to both many times(maybe too many).

2. MDR - found the menu more limited and quality not as good. Vegetables were so over cooked.

3. We enjoyed the buffet for lunch and breakfast and found it to be very good.

4. Elite breakfast - Do not care for a toasted cold bagel. Coffee and drink selection were good but much better food for breakfast in Ocean View(hot toasted bagel).

5. Really enjoyed Jacob Yates(cellist and pianist). Different.

6. Sunset Bar - Cigar smoke too close to us to enjoy the bar. The wind direction did not cooperate.

I do like Eclipse and Summit but will be on Beyond in November. Assume it will be similar to Apex and Edge.  We do enjoy trying the specialty restaurants although we prefer Sushi on Five to the sushi restaurant on Apex and Edge.  The Bistro is nice for lunch.

We left our snack plate in the room thinking our cabin assistant would take it but after two days of me trying to put it where he would definitely see it, I caught on to the new not-too-pleasant way of returning dishes and glasses.  They did seem to disappear quickly though.

Service is always great on any ship we have sailed.  Hope you enjoy your first Celebrity cruise.

Found that to be all to common,

seen it where cigar smokers will sit right edge of smoking section and blow smoke into the non smoking section and laugh about it 🤢

Always a peeve for us was having to step over room service trays on the floor in the corridors.   Considerate of you to leave it in your room.  The attendant should have known enough to remove it.  The ships should indicate the preferred method of tray pick up.
