RickT Posted August 5 #1 Share Posted August 5 My last two Celebrity cruises were devoid of Decoy Cab Sauv. It was listed on the menu but both times I was told it was unavailable. If unavailable was there any similar Cab’s available? I’m on the Edge next month and hoping to find a decent red to drink.

jelayne Posted August 6 #3 Share Posted August 6 Decoy was available on the Edge in late April. I read on these boards a day or so ago it has been moved back out of the Premium package. 1

Check your wine menus for these 2 options; 1) Silver Ghost Cabernet Sauvignon 2) St Francis Old Vines Zinfandel Both are available by the glass and are covered under the Premium Beverage Package.

You’ve been lucky. I’ve not seen either of those on a ship, and don’t see them on the menu tonight. But, yeah, those would both kick Decoy’s butt…

If Silver Ghost is not available, I could drink St Francis wine every night and be happy. Just my taste…it may not necessarily be everyone’s. George C Posted August 6 #10 Share Posted August 6 Every celebrity cruise we did had Decoy Cab , including summit in March . Celebrity also had a Chianti Classico which I liked . Last couple of cruises we had a high end suite which gives you a bottle of champagne, I traded the champagne for two bottles of decoy.
chuckroast1 Posted August 6 #11 Share Posted August 6 Heh, it wasn't very long ago that the Excelsior was a mainstay of the Classic Package!

Beyond current sailing is showing these in the app. Not sure what the strange prices are about. This is from the MDR. zitsky Posted August 6 #18 Share Posted August 6 @DaKahuna thanks for that wine list and photos. But don’t we need to discuss what restaurants? As I hear availability is not consistent.

As I hear availability is not consistent. Those were all in Luminae except for the Chanti Classico, which we had in Tuscan. Availability does vary from location to location with Cellar Masters having the widest variet of choices. However, I drink wine primarily with meals and cocktails at other times so I did not order wine outside a restaurant, with the exception of the occassional glass of champagne in the Retreat Lounge. My tried and true method of choosing my wines is to inform the Sommelier that I only drink red wine, that I will be on board for X number of days, I will let her/him know what I am having for my main, and ask her/him to pair a wine for me and I would prefer not to receive the same wine twice.

paulh84 Posted August 6 #23 Share Posted August 6 See if the wine steward can suggest something that isn't Decoy. They should enjoy offering better alternatives and could explaining why. Most of the bottles pictures above...the MAN Syrah, Vive Malbec, Excelsior Cab are $9 to $10 bottles retail. Those should really be on the classic package. That's lower shelf grocery store wine.
