  1. Just to add to this. I had the Spend $1000 get $250 back. I paid $1000 on my January cruise Friday. The $250 credit was on my online statement today. Oddly enough out of the many offers that I have taken advantage of with Amex this was the first one that I didn't receive an email from them telling me that I have used the offer. Had me a little worried over the weekend, but all is fine. This one expires 8/15.
  2. Don't forget quality of food, the comfort of the beds on Oceania, and an item that you just can't measure on a spreadsheet. That would be the intrinsic value of being on a smaller Oceania ship and the overall experience of Oceania. It's not for everyone. There are those that still prefer the action and size of the Mass Market ships. I've met people that keep wanting what they have on those lines, and much of it doesn't exist on Oceania, and that's quite otay with me. Also, for those that plan on multiple sailings with Oceania their loyalty program is hard to beat.
  3. A few years ago the Revenue dept made some changes in the discounts and upgrade offers. It seems there was way too much overselling and taking care of that had them having to offer deals to people already booked that were way too good. They also used to quietly sell unsold rooms. Haven't seen any of those sales in a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if something like that doesn't come back in the future though.
  4. Just to be clear, the free drinks in the bars has always been a part of the Captain's Welcome party, I've been doing it over 12 years now, what was different about yours in March is that the Captain wasn't in Horizons shaking hands with people. Personally, I've stopped shaking hands with officers and crew a long time before Covid. I've always felt it is not good for them or me. Looks like a great way to spread germs. FWIW, I've never gone to Horizons for the Captain's Welcome party, I'm fine in Martinis or the Grand Bar.
  5. While you folks in the UK usually have different package deals than us in North America do, what you've described would take reasonable price, what the OP is asking about, and knock it into the stratosphere.
  6. Or maybe people that need a test and don't have one. I'd double and triple check this before leaving.
  7. If you're staying in a hotel the night before a proctored test you could take in your hotel room would probably be the cheapest and easiest.
  8. I'm pretty sure no hotel will be in reasonable walking distance (with luggage) to the ship, unless you're on an R ship that might park at the World Trade Center dock.
  9. In our current environment there are those that can't have a conversation that within 15 to 20 seconds they turn the subject to politics. I live in a major tourist area and talk to the public on a daily basis. I see it every day. They are consumed by it. Sad really.
  10. Remember that guy that used to post about the huge demand on the West Coast and insisting Celebrity base a ship there? I guess this answers that question. Can't fill the ships so having to comp them. We also got this offer; on our May cruise we might have spent a couple hundred in the casino. It had been 4 years prior to that when we had last sailed on Celebrity. Maybe they are targeting people that look like (gambling behavior) they might spend more. I'll probably do this, free beats wholesale.
  11. And a 1, and a 2, and 3, and Poof! Expect yours and my posts to disappear, you can't mention Travel Agents here.
  12. I don't mind the brochures, I actually read them, I have one sitting by me right now I need to leaf through. Amazing what you might learn from them that you won't online. I'm more concerned about the daily deluge I get from all the political candidates running for two open rep districts here. Our election is this coming Tuesday, and it's nonstop, along with the TV ads.
  13. First I've ever heard of this in 12 years on this board. Interesting, learn something new some days.
  14. I'm not sure where the original question was. Although Paul Simon wrote the song I believe the bigger hit was by Harpers Bizarre in 67. Much like Red Rubber Ball with Cyrkle. So who is Dale and where was the question?
  15. This reminds me of another advantage of booking your air through Oceania. Another poster was asking for advantages recently in a thread that got locked. This one is obvious. I also noticed another poster recently mentioned their embarkation port being changed within a month of embarkation by about 1500 miles. If you had your flights through Oceania they would fix it. I'm not saying it's more advantageous to book through them, but it is certainly a consideration if you have concerns about these issues.
  16. I don't mind meeting and having conversations with others at dinner, BUT, my main goal when selecting sharing in a specialty is to get an earlier time than what I otherwise could by not sharing. I've met some very nice people over the years, and a couple that made for stories later.
  17. I'll post this question here since it's a related topic. Looking at flights DFW-LHR, have the option at the same price in PE for either AA 77W Boeing 777 or BA 789 Boeing 787. Any opinions/experience on which would be the best choice for PE? I've flown the AA PE there before and had no real issues or dislikes. Thanks
  18. If you turned Silver before I think Nov of 2013 you used to get the full value of the grats instead of the $250. Not sure if that's still the case.
  19. I just looked at the deck plan and that one seems to be midship. Doesn't seem to be aft at all. Less than a 30 second walk to the lounge. Are you sure on that number? I was trying to figure out what cruise we were on together and if I've got it right it was on the Regatta to Alaska in 15.
  20. Maybe they mean Regatta from Aug 18th-27th
  21. I don't get Biz class, but when I get PE or E and fly on AA or Delta I always get FF points with the O air. I usually don't use them for Domestic flights. I usually get seat assignments when flights are assigned, and once they are ticketed, or maybe before I can move them around to improve my location.
  22. This is from the email reply they sent you. Not sure what else they could have said.
  23. I have been in 9041 and would not recommend that area. If available, I would opt for the area close to the aft stairs/elevator. In my experience the area by the stairs and elevators is not noisy at all, although many people seem to have that notion. When we were close to the lounge & laundry the issue wasn't with those but due to a crew door that is not shown on deck plan. The laundry entrance door also leads to a crew service access area. They were going every morning between 6:30- 7:00.
  24. Can you refresh my memory on how this works. Seems I remember something about having to also be paid in full before booking. Or is that to be ticketed?
  25. There are two documents, the sail safe one sail-safe-program.pdf (oceaniacruises.com) And this one you have to click on further in the page where is says Additional Prembarkation Health Screening. Apparently the Sail Safe one has not been updated yet. This is probably what is causing a bit of confusion for people. ADDITIONAL PRE-EMBARKATION HEALTH SCREENING FOR SAILINGS EMBARKING ON OR AFTER AUGUST 1, 2022, Oceania Cruises will no longer require guests to produce a negative covid test to embark their cruise, subject to local regulations. Please Note: Voyages embarking from the United States, Canada and Greece as well as those sailing to Bermuda, will still require a negative covid test at embarkation, until further notice.
