  1. Yeah, book that hotel room ASAP. Just suck up the price. To give you an idea, I got married the weekend of Head of the Charles. I didn't realize it (hadn't even heard of Head of the Charles). We got married in Newton. The closest hotel I could get a room block in was in Billerica.
  2. If you booked a guarantee room, your room will be assigned any time between now and the time you get to the port.
  3. In your case, because you are in Aqua class, your assigned dining room is Blu. Since there is no assigned dining in Blu, the assigned time is meaningless. If you wish to eat in the MDR, you need to make arrangements with the Maitre D at Blu.
  4. Just a note that while what people wear may vary based on destination, the printed dress code is the same.
  5. While this might be the case, I find the water from the dispensers to be chilled more than from the sink, plus the ice is right there.
  6. I stopped playing Bingo when they switched to the computer generated stuff. Now all they do is scan your card to validate the win. To me, it makes me feel the game can be fixed since the computer knows what card sets are out there and can draw the appropriate numbers.
  7. If all you are looking for is a place to sleep, then look in the Seaport area. Close enough to the airport as well as the cruise port. Many new places.
  8. Let's be real. Cruise ships NEVER want to leave passengers behind. If it's feasible to do so, they will wait. Sometimes it's not. The reality of a ship's excursion is that if the ship does need to leave, the cruise line will get the passengers to the next port. Whereas, if you aren't on a ship's excursion, you're on your own to get there (though you will get assistance in making arrangements). It's possible the two passengers in question were in contact with the ship to let them know their situation.
  9. The third person pays a surcharge equal to the value of the Cheers package. Of course, they can then get whatever non-alcoholic drinks they want....
  10. Here's the issue with a debit card. Every hold removes balance from your account until the hold is released. So, if the ships puts 3 $200 holds on your account during the cruise, that's $600 that is held until it's released 7-10 days later. However, at the end of the cruise, the final charge of $600 will be charged, so that is $600 that is immediately withdrawn from your account, plus $600 in holds waiting 7-10 days. With a credit card, the holds (pending charges) don't affect your cash balance.
  11. Are they using the island tenders or the ship tenders? Apex is a large ship, so it can take awhile, and as you know, ship's tours get priority.
  12. Due to the way holds work with a debit card, while it can be used, it's not recommended.
  13. The hotels that offer a shuttle to the port are not ones that would be recommended. How long are you in Boston. You looking to sightsee, or just a place to sleep?
  14. The most popular cruise is a 7 day out of Florida. Only so far they can go in 7 days.
  15. Generally speaking, unless you are in a suite or in concierge, your only option are the buffet or possibly the grill. Breakfast will be served in the MDR daily. Lunch on sea days.
  16. Don't rely on the app to show the proper menus until you are onboard.
  17. NCL will call it a privacy violation to announce what groups are booking as a private charter. Plus, they know people will cancel if they can.
  18. I don't think it's something to worry about this year as the king crab season was cancelled.
  19. I wouldn't do Salem unless on a cruise excursion.
  20. When I took the White Pass, the bus driver wouldn't let us on the bus without viewing our passports.
