  1. @OCSC MikeI have that font style on my first Ovation, from Oct/2022 cruise. @StrikeEagleI just got my 2nd Ovation today, and it was new style. I personally like it better, because the color pops..LOL
  2. I just got one from Ovation, but I’m missing one. I did fill out paper on the Wonder TA, but haven’t gotten that one. I should be due another one from the Jewel in Sept. I have an old and new from the Ovation, and I do like it better in person.
  3. If it was true Champagne, then it’s truly a gift. Sparkling wine, not so much.
  4. I just did both on the Ovation in Australia/ NZ. I used OBC for the pay, and thought it was worth it. I probably wouldn’t do pay again, but that could change, depending on location. These pics were the free.
  5. I usually go to AAA for a little cash before I go. There’s a fee, but it’s not much.
  6. I personally like the show. There are a couple of slow spots, but being from a musical background, I tend to like production/cabaret shows. As was said, only you can decide. I wish they still had the aerialist. I just finished 5 legs on the Ovation, and still went to see it multiple times. Everybody has their own taste on entertainment. I don’t enjoy comedy shows, but others love them.
  7. I would try to switch to early traditional. Even if it’s 5-5:30, with 10 people, you may not even get your food until 6. Royal has made a mess of their MTD, and now start it later, and seat MTD when early traditional diners leave their tables.
  8. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2942079-no-usa-passport-for-alaska-cruise-departing-vancouver/ Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. So, if you are going to need a passport, plan way ahead.
  9. If you don’t want to use app, I would suggest printing out the decks at home you will need the most, and bringing along, just in case.
  10. If you are on the ship in July, reservations should be open now for Spectra’s Cabaret in Two70. I just got off the ship (5 legs) on May 19, and that is the only show that needs reservations. Personally, I find it easier to reserve on website. Upper left, pull down menu and pick entertainment. You should see Spectra’s.
  11. This has been the nice thing about vouchers, is you can share, even with strangers. Remember, the vouchers also include other things besides alcohol, that you can use them on.
  12. My 14 day to Greenland in Sept., prior to yours, is $55.99 Just goes to show how much fluctuation there is between same ship, different itineraries.
  13. Making sure that everyone has notifications turned ON in settings for the Royal app will sometimes help in messages coming through. Not always, but a few may pop up on screen.
  14. You don’t get better deals. You get a reduced deposit (non refundable) and OBC.
  15. I am going on my first Celebrity cruise next May. Had to cancel a couple, so it’s a swap, so I don’t lose deposits. I wanted something close to home, so just doing the 6 night to Alaska on the Edge. Looking forward to that ship. I get benefits from my sailings on Royal, so I’m sure I will enjoy it. Least of my concerns are snootiness. I have run across several, what I call, “ugly Diamonds” on Carnival, so it’s definitely not a brand trait. LOL
  16. In a nutshell, a foreign registered vessel can’t transport passengers from one US city to another US city, without stopping at a distant foreign port. There are no “Distant” foreign ports on the Westcoast. However, round trips only need to stop at a foreign port. California usually has the Hawaii round trips, and they make a stop in Ensenada, Mexico. Cruises from Vancouver, to and from Hawaii are normally repo cruises and one way.
  17. You will never see a one way out of Seattle to Hawaii on any cruise line, due to the Passenger Vessel Service Act. That’s why they leave from Vancouver.
  18. You can also take a 12 pack of water, or soda, plus a bottle of wine. Are there any Diamond and above in your family? If they get vouchers, they can also share those. You can also take a sports bottle and fill up with ship water. It’s perfectly fine. They usually have a flavored water at the dispenser in Windjammer. Specialty cocktails are usually $14, mixed drinks, like rum & coke, $10ish. Each drink will have an 18% gratuity added. And figure port days. Will that $70-80 per day be worth it on those days. Some people are allday drinkers, some like a couple in the evening.
  19. Not true…you can order anything alcoholic or non, up to $14
  20. I just logged in on my IPad and it’s fine.
  21. Yup, my daughter made all her reservations on June 1 for her July cruise on the Wonder.
  22. Doesn’t sound like you’re being cheap. Cheap would be bringing a 12 pack of Coke Zero onboard with you, and maybe bringing a sports bottle and fill with ship water if you drink a lot of water. Do you think you would need more than 8 non alcoholic beverages per day? Or let your husband use the 8 vouchers and you buy a soda package.
  23. My daughters have the points when they sailed with me as minors, but they stopped sailing with me when I was Platinum, so they remain at that level. My oldest is missing a couple of cruises with me, one being her graduation cruise and she was 18. Adding the 2 won’t change her current level, but it will add more points to next level. Hope to get it straightened out before she sails Wonder next month.
  24. You should have seen me hauling Tim Tams and Australia’s Kettle chips (the flavors are amazing) recently on the Ovation 😂. I restocked on the 3 legs out of Sydney. I do like to bring salty snacks, which I find are lacking on the ships.
