mferranti Posted March 27, 2011 #301 Share Posted March 27, 2011 To please everyone' date=' they should have it from 4-7pm. Do you suppose a large percentage would take advantage and drink that much more? If so, here's the solution: Between 4 & 5, hand out chits that can be used only until 6pm. People arriving after 5, wouldn't need them.[/quote']How would this help? Would they make people who entered between 4 and 5 stop drinking after 6? How would they keep track of who was who? Hand stamps? Easier solution: scrap the perk and let everyone be completely equal in receiving nothing. caladezi Posted March 27, 2011 #302 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Boy, I can't believe that there are so many people upset about not being able to guzzle down enough free drinks to make it worth anything. The Elite time is great no matter what hours it is held. I like to drink as much and probably more than the next guy but I don't try to knock down as many as possible in the two hours of free drinks. I do however purchase a premium alcohol package and then it's not necessary to sneak a drink out of the lounge or have my day ruined because I missed out on a half hour of freebies. Just buy a package and then you can spend time talking to people rather than keeping track of where the waiter is so that you can order the next one. beachbuddy Posted March 27, 2011 #303 Share Posted March 27, 2011 i got off hte Connie today.. I eat late. .somedays i got there as early as 530.. most days leter. i went more this cruise as i had friends on board. Do all early dinner people really think people rush back from a port to shower and go for free drinks. .i did not!!many of us are enjoying our day in port and want to enjoy the balcony too. many of us left the lounge to go work out or do other things not just sit and drink. We're late seating and Ditto to what you said!! Let's see, if we have a choice of not having to be back on the ship until 5 pm or go back at 3 or 4 to shower and dress in order to get a free drink???? Guess what we'll choose.......we'd definitely stay in port till 5 pm when we have to get on the ship!! LOL We like to enjoy our balcony too especially after a port day. Love to sit out there and watch as we leave a port.
Wine-O Posted March 27, 2011 #304 Share Posted March 27, 2011 What about the morning breakfast in Michael's? It's normally held from 8-10am. That's fine on sea days, but I'm usually heading out on an excursion by 8am. I think they should change those hours on port days to 6-8am. That way I can get in my double espresso and my free 5-6 bloody marys in before I go ashore.

RodPat Posted March 27, 2011 #310 Share Posted March 27, 2011 There are way too many elite members for this perk. On Constellation in November if you were not there by 4 you would have had trouble getting a seat with friends in Reflections. I think with all these people trying to get as many free drinks they can drink in 2 hours, Celebrity will be forced to adjust who gets this perk. Celebrity used to allow you to take money out of the casino without a service charge. Many people did this so they could pad their Celebrity charge and get free obcs. Well Celebrity caught on and stopped that. I was told that at least 5 eyes watch this Cruise Critic sight. I am afraid that with all the people who want to drink themselves silly for free,it will not go over well with Celebrity. Pat

Dick in Falls Church Posted March 28, 2011 #313 Share Posted March 28, 2011 >>>There are way too many elite members for this perk.<<< OK, what is your proposed solution? 1. Change the Elite requirements to minimum of 50 credits? 2. Do away with the perk? 3. Ban discussion on the board because someone might take an action? 4. something else? Personally, I really appreciate the perk. If they change it to 3-5, so be it-I might show up on some sea days. If they change it to 11-12 pm, I'll likely never show. It could be like RC, where you can drink 2Buck Chuck equivalent, or pay 50% for something else. We've met some really nice folks on the ships, and have yet to see someone fall down drunk. I have never saw anyone fall down drunk on a Celebrity ship but some of the people here are not very appreciative of this perk. I would like to see them keep this perk and I am a believer in free speech so no ban here. I do believe that they will change the elite status to an elite plus with more cruise credits. I don't think they were very forward thinking about so few cruises required for these perks. This was supposed to be held in Michaels Club which is an intimate attmosphere but now is being held in the lounge at the top of the ship because on many sailings there are 600 elites on board. You can't make money giving away that many drinks a day. Just a fact of life. Pat

By the end of my Mariner of the Seas cruise in October, I'll be Diamond+ which would, hopefully, transfer to a higher Elite category if they do change it. Tucker in Texas At some point they are going to have to do something about creating a higher tier in Celebrity. There are just too many Elites now. At the moment, Diamond Plus can access Celebrity's highest benefits, but Celebrity Elites cannot access Diamond Plus benefits, no matter how many cruise credits the Elite member has. This leads me to believe that a higher Celebrity loyalty category is in the works.

At the moment, Diamond Plus can access Celebrity's highest benefits, but Celebrity Elites cannot access Diamond Plus benefits, no matter how many cruise credits the Elite member has. This leads me to believe that a higher Celebrity loyalty category is in the works. Of course, that would only accomplish the reverse-- overburdening the Diamond Plus amenities... Whatever they do, I (along with many others) am likely not to be completely happy...Once they've given an amenity, it's hard to take it away... And, with all the new accounting and new tiers, some of us are in this strange position: I am Diamond--still a few cruises short of Diamond Plus on RCCL...and Elite (with 16 credits...at the end of my currently booked Celebrity cruises, I'll be at 20 credits) with X... Say they add an "elite Plus" at 25 credits to mirror RCCL's Diamond Plus, I'll be closing in on 40 cruise credits on the combined lines but still several cruises short of "Plus" while many people with 25 cruises will have the "Plus" amenities on both!! Anyone sense an inherent unfairness with that?
