Just wondering We were on Silhouette on its first Med Voyage last August Food was not exactly Celebrity Standard How did you find it ?

They recently changed the menus. I just came off the Silhouette a couple of days ago, and the menus on this cruise were much better then what was on the November Silhouette cruise. Thought there were better and more selections, too, although escargot is no longer available.

Thank you for the wonderful photos and tips. We leave on the TA in a few weeks and look forward to cruising on this beautiful ship. I have a question regarding quiet places to read and wonder if you come across any, would you please pass that information on to us? We had a hard time finding such a location onboard the Century a few years ago, and hope to locate some comfortable chairs in 'off the beaten path' on the Silhouette.

That is what the Hideaway Lounge is for.

Or if you want outside, go up to the Sunset Bar at the rear of the ship.

Radio's pics of the Dining room are the best I've seen.

In 12 nights on the Silly we never saw anyone eating in the Porch.

Meg, it 's real grass but winter takes it's toll on it. The grass was very nice in Nov when we were on her. It was covered with plastic the first day or so and then they covered it again on the way back to NJ. I was wondering how it was going to hold up in our weather.

We were on the March 5 sailing andhad lunch at The Porch 4 times, twice there were only three tables of people and twice the place was full. Loved it...great food, great service, great views. We ate there both while in port and while sailing. We'll be on Reflection in October and we're looking forward to lunching there again and also trying breakfast. When the Ocean View Cafe gets crazy, The Porch is a wonderful alternative.

I agree. The menu changes are wonderful. I missed the escargot, but the replacement of crab stuffed mushroom caps served in the escargot dishes with leftover butter and garlic left in the little pods was delicious. hopefully, the problems with supplying escargot will be resolved and it will return to the menu.

Hi Radio,

I am enjoying "sailing" with you again. We just got off of the Solstice--sister ship and I am enjoying the similarities and differences of the two ships.

Anyone sailing with you this time?? Mrs Radio ??

As someone already mentioned the tree is for real. When we were on the Solstice we were lucky enought to have dinner with the Environmental Engineer and the tree (on all of this class of ships) came up in the converstion. He told me that Dan Hanneran(didn't spell that right) was checking things out on the Solstice before it was launched and said he that area of the ship was very boring----it needed a tree, and that is how the trees came to be.

The Environmental Engineer said keeping the tree and grass growing, at times is extremely difficult.

Keep up the great pictures--always love them:D

take a few shots of the casino while it's closed Mark? i know you said the machines were up to date. From what i've seen so far I think I might like the Silouette as much as the JOS.... this itinery is fantastic.. almost worth taking the Amtrak down from Boston to do! Thanks and thoroughly enjoying the cruise and your pics!

If you are going to try this itinerary of the Silhouette, you had better hurry and book. April 10 is her last sailing from Bayonne. Why not drive? It will only take about 4-5 hours from CarVer! Wish we could join the 4/10 group, but we just bought a new house so can't make it work.

Hello everyone. . . I had a very relaxing and beautiful day at sea today. . . There was a lot of relaxing, reading, and “News watching” I started the day by attending some of the Celebrity Life discussions. There are several each sea day (5-6), and they are also rebroadcast on TV if you are unable to attend one of them. Today’s included Silhouette Art our, and the magic of Caribbean Cuisine.

I spent the afternoon out on the decks of Silhouette with warm weather (75F), and blue skies. I heard it will get much warmer tomorrow as we head several hundred miles to the south.

There was music out on the decks, but they only play for about an hour. The rest of the time there is piped in music that sounds pretty good.

There is always live music somewhere inside the ship. . .

I heard there will be comedy in the Silhouette Theater tonight, and I think I may have to visit Fortunes Casino for a little while. During the evenings there are multiple “live” bands throughout the ship in different areas. . .mostly Deck 4 and Deck 5.

So far I am really enjoying the Ship, and it may not be easy to compare Celebrity with Royal Caribbean. . .Things are much different in Silhouette that they are on other ships I have sailed (Millennium, Century, Mercury). I am sure you can see that there are many differences between the RCI Fleet as well. I really love that there are NO announcements with Celebrity. The daily Captain discussion at noon will be the only time you will hear much of anything . . . Nice. . . The art work is fabulous, and the food id very good so far. The Service on the ship may be near the top for any ship I have sailed.

Here are a few pics from today. . . Thanks for tuning in!

Hi Radio! Just love the pictures - what a glamorous ship. I'm so jealous. Hopefully by Nov I will become a more skilled camera/IPod user. I loved my past Celebrity cruises but switched to RCL because the crowd was more my mother's age - what demographics are you seeing on this cruise?

I see many of my friends are posting - Hello to all.

Great question. That is a bit of my fear with my booked Celebrity cruise. My Explorer cruise had a lot of older folks and not that I have a problem with them, but it was hard to find anyone my age to talk to.

Radio,

Great shots of the ship!! Have you tried having lunch at the Mast grill yet? Best burgers I ever had on a ship!! This is like re-living my past cruise. Can't wait to see more photos.

Nancy, sorry to hear the escargo is off the menu but those stuffed mushrooms sound delicious............I'd be quite happy with them! :) I loved their french onion soup too......had that and/or shrimp cocktail every night.

Meg, our dining room table was 1 away from that wine thingy!! It really is amazing to see all that wine and I didn't even know there was wine in until after a few days.........LOL The lounge chairs at the pool are very nice because they all have pads on them - so they're not just hard plastic.

Barbara, glad to hear that the Porch is getting some business now. I think on our entire 12 days whenever we walked thru there, we may have seen 4 people one morning. I wonder if the menu changed because it looked like all pre-made sandwiches and the waiters were just standing behind the counter......I kind of felt sorry for them because they were looking for customers.
