Canadian cruisers!!

Recommended Posts

They only update their exchange every so many months. I can't recall if it's every 6 months but I know it's something specific. That's why we benefited so long with the 1.10 exchange before.

Take it for what its worth but when I spoke with the agent about the drink package reduction I asked him to check my cruise rates as well as it looked like maybe their Canadian to u.s. rate had changed. He told me it is looked at weekly and it can change weekly as well.

He was quick with the answers to questions I asked and seemed to know what he was talking about with everything else. Wouldn't bet my next pay check he was telling the truth but might bet a quarter of it. :)

Do you have to call in to see what the rate is with RCCL?

On NCL's website, it will show you what a $100USD is in CDN, so you can calc the rate right away...

My cruise is not until March 2017 so hoping for some relief.

Yes you have to call. Do not expect to see any savings on the rates anytime soon. I'm fairly certain that the reason that we saw those great rates was our dollar was at or close to par for quite a while and then when it tanked Royal did not react and adjust their exchange rates.

Don't convert to Euros on board. Get US$ and convert it at home.

The best way to get cash is to set your Seapass up initially either online or at the pier as a cash account.

With a cash account you can withdraw up to $500 daily from the casino without paying the 5% fee that you would by securing your account with a credit card.

Withdraw the cash at the casino. They may or may not give you cash. If they don't then ask for the gaming slip for the slots. You can then insert this slip in any slot machine and then hit cash out. (You don't even have to play). This will give you a pay slip. Just take this pay slip to the casino cashier and you will get your cash.( I would wait a half hour to an hour between the two visits to the cashier, some have even added a few extra $ to the total)

Royal will charge you above bank rates to convert to Euros.

Just wanted to let everyone know that it appears Royal has increased the balcony discount for Canadians to reflect the exchange rates.

I have only found this to be in effect for cruises booked more than 6 months out but it did apply to all lengths of cruises.

Here are the examples for Diamond member discounts.

3-5 days ...listed discount $125......new discount $160

6-9 days ...listed discount $225......new discount $287

10+ days...listed discount $325......new discount $421

This works out to about a 28% increase in our balcony discount.

This certainly helps. Thanks Royal.

Question for the Nexus folks.

I have my card, I have my flight booked. Its out of the US. I know I can cross the boarder using the card, its very easy. My question is about using it at the airports. How do I do that? It needs to be in my flight information some where? Or do I need to apply my number some where else? I'm looking at avoiding t he long lines at security especially in Orlando.

Walk me through this, its our first time using it at the airport.

So do they change rates daily? Weekly? Monthly? Do they have sales? Or was the 1.10 to 1 rate (or any reduced rate) pure luck

That rate was in effect for at least a year. We personally made use of it multiple times. I didn't go back and check exactly how long but basically sometime before the first post on this thread till the date the first person reported that it was gone. It was a really long time.

Edited to say, first post was Jan 29/15 (no idea how long the rate was in effect prior to that date) and first report of deal having ended was Jan 7/16.

When you get your boarding pass, make sure you let them know about your nexus card and they will add the TSA imprint on it. Also, go to your booking and make sure your Nexus card # is added to the booking. It makes the travel a lot easier.

Every airline has an area to add you card #.
