Day 5 - Still no hot water!!! We have had to call Guest Services a few times a day (and night) to advise them of our hot water problem since embarkation. It is intermittent but seems never to be available at dinner time or morning when it is most needed. We are getting really frustrated at having to call the front desk every time we want to wash our hands. The Guest Services Manager refuses to meet with us and keeps advising his staff to tell us everything is fine.

Everything else about the cruise is wonderful but this situation is clearly preventing us from "savoring the journey" !!! On the positive side, we have a new favorite friend on board ... the ship's plumber ... He is spending more time in our bathroom more than we are!

Hauntingly reminiscent of Lizzie's problem last year. Pretty sure you are getting tired of using the shower in the spa!!!!!!!

:(

We had a non-operating toilet on the Rotterdam. I'm not sure which is worse actually, no hot water would be brutal.

That isn't good that the contracts are done. North of us had some ice and yesterday and the salt trucks were out doing their job.

We don't live in a city. The main streets in our town are being cleared but not where we live. Good job we have not removed the snow tires. I heard on the news that Toronto's ploughs are reduced by 50%.

Oh dear Gail, not good at all.

We had snow too, but our plows are still working, thankfully!!!

Really sorry we missed a storm (NOT). Hope yours gets cleared up and melts away. DH is summoning me (LOL) for breakfast. Back later

Sorry about the "drift" :p not to worry, these storms seem to be liking sw Ontario. The polar vortex is loving us. Should be good by next week. I hope they are right as my next hospital appointment is next week.

hope you enjoyed breakfast! :)

Oh dear, it seems they have still not fixed the problem a year later! Some of our roll call last year had scalding hot water, while we and a few others had no hot water at all. We were on first-name terms with the plumber, too. The most annoying part for me was that they had to come and try it for themselves each time I called it in, as if I was incapable of determining the temperature of the water. Every day I was told it had been fixed. Yeah right. It took 2 weeks, but it did finally get sorted.

Just in case the Canadians are missing home (ha) we are having another snow storm today. No snow clearing equipment as the contracts have ended.

Now doesn't that make you feel good? :D Enjoy your sea day!

Oh dear, Gail. You definitely live in the wrong part of Canada.:D We have been absolutely balmy out here on the wet coast.

Yesterday was our Suite Luncheon in the Pinnacle Grill. We sat next to a lovely Dutch couple and had a great conversation.

They also showed us the proper way to eat the Dutch dessert.

Here's a little food porn to put a smile to your face.

shrimp tartar - yummy!!!!

PG onion soup...

Oops, I forgot to take the pics before we had started. I know, you should slap my hands. You had your choice between the tenderloin and the salmon. DH had the salmon and I the tenderloin and thought they were both excellent. Our Dutch tablemate had the pasta and said it was very good, but I didn't feel I knew here well enough to subject her to a food porn pic - LOL

And our dessert.....It is based on a Dutch dessert and our table mates said the best way to eat it was to remove the different wafer layers and eat them one bit at a time. Eva, our PG manager agreed with them when she passed by.

Captain Van Eerten welcomed us back on board and apologized that he was not at he Meet & Greet. He said that he didn't get the invitation until after it was over. Not sure how that happened but I'll make sure the ones for the second one are passed over for delivery a few days early - LOL. :)

I heard from Jacqui and she is having problems getting on to CC, so I assume that's why we haven't heard anything from the roll call since much earlier today. Either that or they are just too darn busy with all the activities onboard right now. Decisions, decisions, what to go to.:D

We were just in PS 7046 -- again.

My main computer had to go to Geek Doctor this morning so I have not had a chance to down load new pictures -- most of the living room furniture is still the same as when we were in that cabin in 2013.

The verandah furniture has been changed -- black -- and not as nice as the original furniture we had.

Thanks KK. On a well know HAL website, it shows one of the PS7045 on the Westerdam with dark brown furniture, with no date. I also saw your offerings on PS7046 from 2013. The whole cabin looks pinkish-brown. Hoping they did the same thing in 7046, but apparently not.

We have been in PS7045 on the Zuiderdam four consecutive cruises and the only thing added in February is a 5-6 ft tripod with binoculars attached.

Thanks for the info. I'll be in that 7046 when it gets to Seattle.

That Tripod has also been added to 7046 -- it is a telescope. The new, heavy binoculars are in a big case on the desk.

The sofa has been re-covered in a dark material - ughly. The 2 chairs and the coffee table are the same.

New mattress -- very low to the floor.

I hope to get my laptop back tomorrow and maybe I can do some pictures of the verandah over the weekend.

Concerning the toilets.

On our cruise we got a note indicating that while we were in Curaçao, the toilets on the port side would be out of service from 9 AM until 2 PM for maintenance. We didn't experience any toilet problems the entire cruise.

Never had any problems with the hot water either. We did have to let it run a couple of minutes before it was hot to our liking.

Apparently, the folks on the PoP cruise can access facebook and messenger, but not Cruise Critic or anything else on the internet. Hopefully once they hit land they can report in once again. I've been told they are having a great time, and seas are smooth.

Just finally got on the internet - ship's has been out [except for just Google and Bing] since just after lunch yesterday. I'm on my own hot spot using Hawaii's resources.

We are just off O'ahu and Diamondhead is clearly in sight. Went past Molokai at about 6-7 am this am.

We had a lot of swells yesterday, we went a little south of our track to avoid a passing storm/front heading to the US 'left coast', but couldn't avoid the waves.

Hopefully they will get the internet fixed while we are overnighting in Honolulu.

I've been struggling with the CC app and my email but FB has continued to work. This morning I deleted and then reloaded the app and it is working although I have my regular cellular service now as we're sailing along the coast of Oahu. We have been extremely busy with all the wonderful activities and lectures on board! I told my daughter that we need sport to rest up [emoji6]

We're docked now,at Pier 2, and Internet seems to be better. Maybe some people have logged off? Looks like it will be a nice day. I think we will check in and get our hop on tickets, can't decide if we will use them both days, but I think the 2-day price of $35 was pretty good. We have to be back at the ship well before 3, to join Jacqui et al for our evening luau.

I've been on a Missionaries and Monarchs tour this afternoon and the missionaries portion has been fascinating. We started our tour (there's only 22 of us) by driving up to Pali Lookout. Windy and chilly!

Have not been able to get on the ship's internet in close to 24 hours. Those who are reading my blog, I am hoping to get yesterday's post up tonight. On the bus headed to the luau now.

Beautiful and warm in Honolulu today.

Here is the On Location from our second day at sea as well as the menus for that evening in the MDR.

Boy, oh boy - I have to say that there are lots of activities. Leia making, Hula hula dancing, lecturers - I can't see how anyone can complain really. There has to be something for everyone so far on this sailing. Lecturers are really good IMO. and the hula hula dancing is great. Looks like we have a natural in our midst on our roll call. Sherifa is very good.

Thanks for the compliment! The team is great and so much fun! It really helps get us involved in the cultures we will visit. Wonderful luau show tonight!
