wolfcathorse Posted January 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2017 We have no clue how to tip CK Wait Staff. Please help us ?? If you've prepaid your tips, RCI will see they get their share. After all, the ship knows where you ate every night! If you didn't pre-pay your tips, the daily tip amount will show up on your Seapass account through out the cruise. Once again, RCI knows where you've been and will distribute accordingly. It's no different than eating in the MDR 3 out of 7 nights and the specialty venues the other 4. RCI knows and splits the tips between the MDR waiters and the waiters in the specialty restaurants.

We were told that they were covered under auto grats. So give extra to whomever you like. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Big_G Posted February 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We didn't eat there every night so we tipped a little extra each meal directly to the waiter we had. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
troykahack Posted February 1, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Your question is exactly why I love the prepaid tips! Takes all the guess work out of it. Always have done prepaid tips. But generally we dine in MDR. On Allure, or Oasis Class, the CK is a bit different.
chandom Posted February 1, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Ultimately treat it like you would a specialty restaurant. If you don't want to hand out green backs each night ask for a $0 balance bill. When I was using CK back in May 2016 they gave a receipt every night with the "additional tip" line. CGoguen Posted February 1, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 1, 2017 The CK staff on Allure was amazing when we went in December. We ate there multiple times a day and always left an extra few dollars on the table or gave it directly to our waiter. We also used a WOW envelope and left them some more on our last day. And yes, we prepaid gratuities too. For the service they provided us, it was well worth it to us.

frank808 Posted February 1, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 1, 2017 In addition to the prepaid tips we hand out extra to the wait staff that have helped us. When we find a good waiter you can ask the hostess to be in there sectoon for dinner. For breakfast and lunch you might not get your servers as they rotate for training and days off. Also some CK staff help out the MDR during early seating. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
Rare John&LaLa Posted February 1, 2017 #17 Share Posted February 1, 2017 So, tonight , we tipped about $10 extra. I have no clue what we should tip?? You might drop the host some green in an envelope at the end of the trip. We did, but back then dining by JS pax was a privilege not a right
PhoenixCruiser Posted February 1, 2017 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Is this your first cruise in a suite?
Rare John&LaLa Posted February 1, 2017 #19 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Is this your first cruise in a suite? No, but I believe the first time in Coastal Kitchen. That venue is unique and makes for a valid question. There are some older threads on the subject as well
suzyluvs2cruise Posted February 1, 2017 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2017 You will get a receipt at the end of the meal and you can add an extra tip if you want. Currently on Harmony and was on Allure on November. No receipt at the end of the meal in CK on either ship. Merion_Mom Posted February 1, 2017 #22 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Harmony, Oasis, Anthem. No receipt EVER in Coastal Kitchen. I give cash in an envelope at the end of the cruise. On Anthem, they definitely give you the same waiter every dinner, unless there is some major disruption. :)

Rare A&L_Ont Posted February 1, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) In the past we had slips on Oasis and Allure, but it has been a long time since we ate in the CK. I'd do a cash tip of your preference every night to your server. Your suggestion of $10 sounds good. Edited February 1, 2017 by A&L_Ont
troykahack Posted February 1, 2017 Author #25 Share Posted February 1, 2017 No receipts for us to use to tip with. We prepaid gratuities. Thanks for the responses. We have not had the same wait staff on first 3 days. The folks in the CK are awesome!!!
